VailedPhoenix
This is my very own sort of mission... quest... thing. I've had my quest written out for a few months now, and I just turned 26, so I figured this was as good a time as any to post it up for the NF family to see. (I already have it on a blog of mine just for a couple friends of mine to see and keep up with.) I'm 5 ft even and about 225lbs. I have knee problems, and trouble sleeping, and I'm tired of it, which is the largest (and main) reason for my fitness goals. I've always been overweight or had troubles with my weight, and I'm finally tired of it. All of my other goals have always been around in my life, and more things will probably pop up on here every now and then. But as of right now, this is it. (I adore LOTR and The Hobbit, hence the theme and stuff) Guard of the Citadel (Physical) 200 lbs180 lbs160 lbs140 lbs (pre-pregnancy weight!)120 lbs115 lbs I will stick to a Paleo diet for weight loss (this may continue afterwards.) VailedPhoenix
Fell behind on things, so starting with a clean slate tomorrow (first of the month falling on a Monday? You really can't come up with an excuse to not start..) I'm currently learning Spanish and German on Duoling (follow me and I'll follow back). Also getting back on track with exercising, which very well may kill me because I hate haaate the cold. At least I'll have warm showers and warm green tea to look forward to. VailedPhoenix
just got an email from duolingo, and they're adding Klingon... should I add that to my quest of amazingness? I think the correct answer here is of freaking course I should. Quote My Epic QuestFollow me on Duolingo Link to comment
Tixnleeches
Absolutely LOVE your epic quest goals!! Many of them are the same as mine! I've been told to look into duolingo to complete my language goals. How is it working for you? I'm also trying to scrap the money together to buy an electric violin to start learning that (hopefully within the next month or two) I don't think it'll be too hard for me to learn since I played the string bass back in middle school / high school so I know the basics and was pretty good. How are you choosing what to tackle first? Also, followed! 1 Quote Starting: Weight 176lbs | Bodyfat ~19% | Current: Weight 184lbs | Bodyfat ~16.5% | Goal: Weight 190-200lbs | Bodyfat 6-10% Level 2 Human Assassin STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 3 | CON 2 | WIS 2 | CHA 3First Challenge : Completed.Second Challenge : In progress.Tixnleeches Epic Quest (Life Goals) : In Progress Link to comment

How are you choosing what to tackle first? Also, followed! thanks! I love duolingo. its really easy, and builds up in difficulty and speed, and it makes learning a game. I've played a little bit on violin before. it was my ex's, and he got frustrated I was learning it faster than him, when he put in twice as much work as I did, but like you, I have a history in music (I play saxophone) so it made reading the music a lot easier, and hearing if I was hitting the right notes easier. I think you'll get it even easier than I did since you've already got some background with strings. as to what I'm choosing first, its mostly whatever jumps out at me the most. as for my languages, I just think Spanish in general is a good language to learn for living in my area since there are tons of people that are native Spanish users who don't know English very well. and I picked German because of a few different reasons. 1. I've got some German ancestry. 2. its spooky close to English already, which makes it surprisingly easy to pick up. and 3. my dad knows a few random words in German here and there, so its basically become me competing against him, and he doesn't even know it lol. I've taken a break from anything on my quest because this year has just been absolutely crazy. but since things are finally starting to calm down and fall back into a routine of some sort, I'm going to start back with my languages and bbww tomorrow. Tixnleeches
Sounds great! I will have to try duolingo out! I was thinking about doing rosetta stone but for the amount of languages I want to learn it would cost me a fortune! It's nice to hear that even though you played a saxophone it made learning the violin a lot easier! You should pick it up again, I'm really wanting to get one now. Time to sell off some stuff I don't use anymore and get a violin! I work in a town that is 70% Spanish speaking and I want to say more then half of that 70% knows very little to no English so I think I will attempt to learn Spanish first. Plus going into healthcare seeing that I can speak Spanish will mean I have to beat the employers off with a stick! Everyone will want to hire me, even more so with each additional language I learn. There is this nurse at work who knows English, Spanish, French, German, and Zulu (his native language) and he got offers from 90% of the major hospitals in all the surrounding states. I think he even makes more then the nurses who have been working in the Emergency Department for 10+ years.... Insane! Sorry to hear about life being crazy and you having to take a break, but glad to hear that you are starting back up again!! 1 Quote Starting: Weight 176lbs | Bodyfat ~19% | Current: Weight 184lbs | Bodyfat ~16.5% | Goal: Weight 190-200lbs | Bodyfat 6-10% Level 2 Human Assassin STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 3 | CON 2 | WIS 2 | CHA 3First Challenge : Completed.Second Challenge : In progress.Tixnleeches Epic Quest (Life Goals) : In Progress Link to comment
VailedPhoenix
so, this wasn't on my Quest, but it was the reason for some of my goals above, but I've just been hired for a parapro position at a local elementary school. I'll be working in the k-2 Autism class, and I am so beyond excited. just because I got to skip a level or two before I got here doesn't mean I'm taking those particular goals off of my list. Namely, learning Mandarin, as the school I will be working at is a duel immersion school. Meaning for half the day, the students do classes in English, and the other half they do them completely in Mandarin. I still want to learn it (and will), its just not going to be as high up on my priorities now since the students I -will- be working with aren't part of the duel immersion. But AHHHHHHH so excited! A lot of my other goals should start falling into place very soon since with the new job I can afford to do things (like buy my own food now, Paleo-ish, here I come!!) on my list instead of saving for months and months at a time just to scrape up enough cash for something small.
