That is some damn fine rowing there.

Cheers bud!

Actually, I was meaning to ask - what do you do during the longer rows? Do you have music on, or just focus on the display screen?

I have sunglasses too for just that reason. Even if it's a cloudy day.

Saturday 5th March - 111.9kg

I feel I have done plenty to earn that breakfast today.

Up first thing again, this time to go the gym.  It was once again deserted - I counted five other guys in there today, none of them the annoying gym bros you get during the week.  One of them was a legitimately huge body-builder type guy who was waving round the 200lb dumbbells like they were balloons.  Impressive stuff.

- w/u

- Goblet Squat 3x8: (1x60lbs), 3x 95lbs - next time I shoot for the 100lbs.

- DB Bench Press 3x8: (2x45lbs), 2x60lbs - 8,6,5*,3 reps - in the first three sets I managed exactly the same number of reps as last time, but I managed a fourth set to squeeze some more out. I'll keep at it until I hit 3x8 in one go.

- Press-ups 3x10: 10,8,8,5 - these are harder after doing a bench press!  Who'ld  have thought it...

- DB Step-ups 3x20: My grip was kind of wrecked by this point so I just did bodyweight lunges instead.

- Plank 3x30s: tick

- c/d

*At the end of my third set of bench press I was pushing with everything I had to get one last rep out, then I dropped the dumbbells, sat up, and the hulking bodybuilder caught my eye and gave me a nod.  I got a proper gym-bro nod for effort!  Quite chuffed with that.

This was all followed by that breakfast.  Turkey bacon and beef sausages aren't as good as proper pork ones, but beggars can't be choosers.  This time next week I'll be in Newcastle and eating all the pork they have!

Later on in the day I tried to do another row, but within a few strokes my grip told me to give it a rest.  Apparently I have the silken smooth palms of a pampered princess, and I've been using them quicker than I can form a decent set of callouses.  Postponed until tomorrow.

...which left me with no other option but to go for a run round the block instead.  Had to do it early as I have an appointment to Skype with a friend tonight that I can't miss (not been able to talk in sort-of-person for ages) so I was taking slightly odd detours in order to stay even vaguely in the shade as much as possible - ot was 81F, after all.

Plenty of batch cooking done too - I have a week's worth of scotch-ish eggs for breakfasts, several days worth of chicken for snacks, and I'm about to go serve up the slow cooker beef curry that's been making my flat smell so nice all day - that'll do the next two days' lunches as well.  I'd even have prepped some bacon burgers too if I'd remembered to buy the damn mushrooms!  There's always something...

Right, all this talk of food is making my stomach call me to the dinner table.  And who am I to argue?

The fake pig products look pretty convincing, it all looked pretty tasty except for the beans. Beans are evil.

If they only tasted convincing. *deep sigh*

Why do so many people have a problem with baked beans?  Someone else was just trying to tell me that it's wrong to have them with breakfast.  Surely it's wrong NOT to?

Sunday 6th March - 112.2kg

Weight has stayed around the same all week, but my waist has dropped half an inch.  That's all I really care about, so I'll stick with what I'm doing, I guess.

Been a bit of a shite day to be honest - woke up knackered despite having a quiet weekend and plenty of sleep, been tired all day, abandoned my row just 1k in because me legs were completely empty, yawned my way through a coffee at Starbucks, and now just been lying on the sofa watching a documentary about the history of country music in Nashville because I could be bothered to get up and change the channel.

I suppose this was my seventh consecutive day of training, and after two days of double sessions to boot.  Need to remember that I'm nowhere near ready to train as much as I did a few years ago yet.  This isn't low intensity Ironman stuff.

Time for an early night.  Hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow when I hit the gym after work.

That breakfast picture.  NOM.  And omg baked beans are the best.  Put that shit on toast and you're golden - breakfast of the gods.

Gym bro respect nod! How awesome is that?! Nice job on that.  And everything else - especially working so hard your hands said NOPE and you went for a run anyway.  Ugh 81 degrees.  But huzzah dedication!

Rest up and kick butt tomorrow!

Monday 7th March

I'm giving up even thinking about my weight until I get back from holiday.  I'm really not focussed on it at all; it's about at sensible as trying to start a cut at the beginning of December...

Today I changed my plans, and decided to row instead of doing the gym.  Hit the air con on to cool the room, loaded up some music on laptop, set the rowing machine up for 10,000m and set off.

Went nice and fine at first, went through 5k in 21:07 (faster than I did in both my 5k & 6k last week).  Legs started getting a bit tired after 7,000m, and when I attempted a sprint finish at 750m out I soon realised that I did not have 750m of sprint left in the tank!  Overall finished in 42:26.5 with a 22s/m average throughout.

This was followed by Nom Nom Paleo's Big-O's Bacon Burgers, Sweet Potato Hash, and a couple of fried eggs for good measure.

I also found out today that I passed my third assessment for my Australian Clinical Coding qualification, so that's just the final exam left next month before that's all out of the way.  Then I start working on my American qualification...

I am now retreating back to the sofa as I am well and truly bloody knackered.  So there.

Dang that's a lot of rowing!  Congrats!

I made Nom Nom Paleo's Madras Chicken Salad (with a few tweaks) for my lunch this week.  Everything from that site, so gooooood.

I have now drunk a bottle of wine and eaten an entire Terry's Chocolate Orange.

Still hungry, still knackered.

Rowing is good for you.

Gosh VICTORY

All of the Easter candy is out here and it's so hard for me to pretend it doesn't exist.  I've had one Cadbury creme egg this year and THAT'S ALL.

I have had a raspberry orange before and it was WONDERFUL~

I've only had one easter egg so far this year. That is a new personal record for pre-Easter.

Nice job pushing through on that rowing session! And congrats on the clinical coding qualification that's really exciting :D Those burgers sound pretty much amazing I'm going to have to give them a try.

I think taking it easy on the weight concern is a good plan for now, don't want to drive yourself crazy. Also I feel like you are always going on holiday! Does anyone even do any work on that side of the pond? Hahah

it's about at sensible as trying to start a cut at the beginning of December...

No one around here would be silly enough to try that... :D

Didn't see those other updates. OH MY GOSH CHOCOLATE ORANGES ARE THE BEST! My mom gets me one for my stocking every year at Christmas and I usually devour it immediately. So worth the tummy pains.

Also I am now beating myself up for forgetting about Michelle Tam's chicken salad. That stuff was THE absolute best.
