Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the good ideas. I have to google most of the yoga terms, but the idea of doing yoga sounds really good to me.

I will gladly come here during the break and discuss some ideas about what I could focus on.

I am also very sorry for your losses. My condolences. I send my best wishes to you, especially for the holidays.

Jan 5th should be easy to remember, since I'm starting work that day too. Hopefully I'll come poking around again around that time and feel up to doing something or another. So not exactly sure where to post this, but I have an issue with my workouts that I'm hoping for some insight on.

 

This whole challenge (and the ones before it), I've been struggling with the actual workout part - the shoulder stretches. the leg workout, etch... It shouldn't be that hard, because they are literally 5 minute workouts where I don't break a sweat (they are good, though, because it's joint strengthening and flexibility help in prep for harder workouts). It's a total mental block, and I finally figured out I'm just scared of overdoing it again. I think about how much I loved my morning routine and the body weight workouts and how excited I was to do them, but every time I think to do my mini-workout so I can get there again, my head goes "nope, not doing that again". It's rather frustrating, ya know?

 

So for all of you who have either recovered from burnout or gotten over a fear during the "get healthy, get stronger" journey, what helped you get through? I'm trying to plan my goals for the next round, so any insight you may have is greatly appreciated.

Go slowly and listen to your body. Acknowledging the fear is key, and you can say Yes, this is kinda scary, so we'll just do a bit, and stop if it's too much.

^Best advice here.

 

I ended up hurting myself (twice) after not listening to my body. I end hyper-extending my left thumb and hurting left shoulder and I still have days (when it's really cold out) they are acting up.

This! BUT don't let that become an excuse to not do anything at all, do even one squat, one rep of whatever exercise and stop if your body says that's enough, bc some days it will be, but don't let the fear keep you from starting at all, it will help to be consistent daily even if you don't do a whole lot every day, and you will not make excuses to do nothing bc you will know you can stop whenever. 

This is how it works for me anyways. I hope you find a way that suits you :)

Thanks everyone! I am hopeful that knowing the reason behind the stalling will help me move past it, but definitely paying more attention to what I am capable of that day is more important than my to-do list. That's what gets me most often.
