If there is one thing I've been good at in life it's starting over.

This last challenge I started off with a bang, then several things went bust and all did not end as well as I'd hoped. I ended up undoing several good things I had going, gained weight, stopped getting up to work out, and giving in to sugar cravings. So this challenge is going to be about starting over.

 

Work smarter, not harder...I will have 4 weeks left of school when this challenge starts, this is the last challenge I will need to make that part of my challenge!! 30 min a day, before doing anything else online +2 WIS

 

Got to move it, move it...I got out of the habit of getting up and working out due to injuries and other things going on in my life, if I need to modify this I did but I plan on doing this series of workouts at least 5 days a week...I did one, and now I cannot move! Not sure what I was thinking but I need to 'work up' to that workout...going to go back to elliptical 3 days a week, and bodyweight or yoga workouts 2 days (I was good on elliptical before, bodyweight needs work)

 

Elliptical

A – All 18 workouts (+1 DEX, +2STA)
B – Skipped 1-3 workouts (.75 DEX, +1.5 STA)
C – Skipped 3-6 workouts (+.5 DEX, +1 STA)
D – Skipped 7-9 workouts (+.25 DEX, +.5 STA)
F – Skipped more than 10 workouts.

 

Bodyweight or Yoga

A – All 12 workouts (+2 STR, +1 DEX)
B – Skipped 1-3 workouts (+1.5 STR, +.75 DEX)
C – Skipped 4-5 workouts (+1 STR, +.5 DEX)
D – Skipped 6-7 workouts (+.5 STR, +.25 DEX)
F – Skipped more than 8 workouts.

 

 

Come on inner peace, I don't have all day...there are a lot of things going on right now that I'm struggling with, I've been interested in doing meditation for a while now so I signed up with Meditation Experience (yes, the Oprah and Deepak thing) to encourage me to do it...pass or fail, +2 CHA if I do it, nothing if I don't...

 

Sugar, paleo, etc...just do it, I know I feel better when I do and like crap when I don't...just take it, and everything else...one day at a time...

 

Longish term goal...I want to RUN in a 5k, specifically the Race for the Cure on April 11th, for time...this gives me something to work towards...doing the elliptical will help build my endurance, and we're going to buy a treadmill soon to use until the weather gets warmer.

I crashed out last challenge as well. Good time to reboot and re-zen so we can tackle next year head on, no?

Not sure if it's just me, but does anyone else notice how so many struggled with the last challenge and are simplifying this one? It may be just the nerds I follow but it seems to be a reoccurring theme lately...

Oh, almost forgot, I got a promotion at work, I'm now in charge of environmental services (aka housekeeping) as well as the kitchen...in addition to my accounting duties...which is another reason I'm trying to simplify this challenge, I don't want to set myself up to fail before I even start...

Not sure if it's just me, but does anyone else notice how so many struggled with the last challenge and are simplifying this one? It may be just the nerds I follow but it seems to be a reoccurring theme lately...

I'm noticing several things that are widespread during certain time periods. Indeed last challenge most people struggled after the first half, while some failed or even disappeared. This time, simplifying and reducing computer time is the trend. I think it might have been related to an abundance of PvPs and Accountability groups popping up, lots of great ideas flying around, people getting excited and then realizing they've bitten a lot more than they could actually chew

I also think it's this time of year - there's a pull, a run-away train feeling that pulls toward the holidays and the new year. There's a mild panic that says we need to GET STUFF DONE! I hate and love it. It's confusing and exhilarating. 

You may be on to something...I know that while I am not where I want to be yet, I am so much further along than I was at this time last year!

Before NF I would just give up since I didn't get there as quickly as I wanted...this time I'm jumping right back in and refusing to accept defeat and planning on training to run a 5k, I had never even THOUGHT about a 5k before this year. This year I walked two of them, and now I want to run one just to see what my time is *smh* I believe I have lost whatever mind I may have had ;)

Okay, I lost what little mind I had when I decided to do those workouts...so I have modified my challenge and going to build up to doing that...

Work is a tad bit overwhelming right now, still not sure what all my new duties are going to be, and then I decide to redo the menu, had to get the truck order in today, and working on holiday stuff...if not for the fact I needed to come home and let the dog out I could easily stay there all night and have plenty to keep me occupied.

Brave thing for this weeks mini, actually changing the menu DRASTICALLY...we're going to be making a lot of things from scratch, I may lose half my staff because of it (I can hope LOL) but I got tired of listening to everyone talk about how it was always the same thing, and we get menus pre-planned with everything we need, down to the recipe manual from our food distributor, silly not to take advantage of it! It will take some work and 'tweeking' but I believe will be worth it in the long run, as well as better for our patients and staff.

Oh, and I have discovered that 

1 c. Coconut Milk (full fat, in the can)

3 T. chia seeds (I used the black ones)

1/2 T Vanilla

1/2 T Honey

mixed together and refrigerated for a few hours makes a very tasty desert that is Paleo compliant :) I have left out the honey as well for a more 'yogurt' texture and that is quite good also, and good for you!

I  bet your patients and staff will very much appreciate the new recipes.  It'll shake things up and hopefully make the preparation more interesting as well?

 

Chia pudding is great, haven't made that variant but I'm going to have to.  So many good things in it.  Cherries might be a nice addition.
