Chris56Ryan
Eyes open, a slow wheeze comes out, slowly a dim conciousness returns .... So I died in my last challenge and have been missing now for a while since. I've been keeping up some level of activity but it's far from good enough. I'm not going to explain myself just that I wasn't doing what I really wanted. I've been using too many things as excuses and I'm not happy with it. This challenge is going to be a reboot. I'm going to get back into the swing of things properly and try use the accountability of the forum to help put an end to the excuses. So without further ado; Life Goals:I've moved into a new apartment all to myself while I was away and it's great but between lazyness excuses and being a bit shy I didn't throw the house warming I said I would so during the course of this challenge I have to do this. Challenge 1:No excuses, I'll be working out 5 days a week minnimum. Challenge 2:Gotta eat better, cop on and start cooking proper meals and not just going for the quick easy option so no takeaway/fried foods. Challenge 3:Trying something new, I'm going to try a yoga class during the course of the challenge. Thats it, short and sweet! You might have to bear with me for updates though as I have limited internet access while I'm working offshore which will be most of the challenge. 2 Quote Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. ShadowLion
Hey, glad you're back! Looks like a good reboot sort of challenge, too. I second Rotengar's excellent advice, and will add my own two cents, as well. Post as often as you can and don't be afraid to ask for help. You've got a really crazy schedule, which can make it harder to get the support you need in changing habits, so make the most of the times you do have internet access. Don't be shy with us. We're all nerds here, and want you to succeed in your quests. And, if you haven't already, get really clear on your "why," the reason you want to be healthier. It will help you keep at things when it gets tough and you may not be able to post. You can share that if you want, or keep it to yourself. It's for you to be able to draw on when you need that extra little bit of motivation to go get your awesome on! Good luck getting on the other rig! 2 Quote All men dream, but not equally. I can manage the 5 days a week alright with usually a wednesday and Sunday as my rest and if I feel I particularly need it I'll take an easy day but it'll still be a workout I'm also currently reading Born to run by Kelly Starrett so hopefully it'll help keep me in top working order. When I try I eat pretty good I just have to stay on top of it and stop making the excuses to avoid it. For the yoga I'm looking at Bikram(I think that's the spelling) or hot yoga this time and see how I like it.Hey, glad you're back! Looks like a good reboot sort of challenge, too. Chris56Ryan
Thanks for dropping in guys day 2 down and I even had a salad for lunch! Unlikely to do it again though it was pretty bad, I think the same stuffs been out for a few days [emoji20] got my gym time in which included a whole pile of deadlifts the heaviest being 95kg so that was nice.Biggest thing I'm proud of though is the amount of mobility work I did today. I'm trying to stop all my running injuries using ready to run and so far so good. Granted I did so much work on my hip it's sore and pretty tender now but the deep muscular pain is gone [emoji16] Sent from my arse pocket! 3 Quote Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. Mikroftt
Bad veggies (expired) or just didn't like the ones that were in it? I have found that the right dressing makes all the difference for me. I have a vinaigrette that I love and it helps with salads a lot. The workout sounds great! There are a lot of people this time experimenting with getting more mobile. I know for me, before I start running more I will need to get my hips in better shape. 1 Quote Link to comment

Would be interested to hear more about it.It's pretty new alright. It was done by Kelly Starrett. He's basically the last word in mobility. I'm finding it great so far with so many demonstrations of the moves to do to work out different areas and I've already come accross my exact two big problems and how to fix them. It'll all take time but it's all about becoming injury and sore spot free. Chris56Ryan
This is day 4 right? It's hard to keep track. Yesterday was a rest day so I rested and got back to it today. I went to the gym twice once for a weight session and the other for running. I've found myself with a lot of time as I've been stopped doing my work here (rig politics ) the main thing it's doing for me is I'm doing loads of mobility work and it seems to be working [emoji1] Food is tough after my bad salad. I just don't trust it enough to have it as a whole meal. I'm working on just making the better choices and not over doing the portion sizes. If I can stay away from all the tasty looking desserts I should be fine [emoji20] All in all I feel on track at the moment just getting very bored with no work to do. At least I still get paid Sent from my arse pocket! 1 Quote Race: Undead Gnoll | Class: Ranger [Level: 3 | STR 4 | DEX 2 | STA 4 | CON 4 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 ]Intro: And Breath.. Chris56Ryan
Another slow day down with two trips to the gym. First exercise was crossfir esque and second a 5k run. Loads of warming up and cooling down with some mobility work sprinkled on top just like my book says!Food wasn't so hot a choice of pizza and chip or fish and chip for lunch wasn't great but a chicken stir fry for dinner helps. Chris56Ryan
So I had to rest today cause my body told me too while I was trying to climb out of my top bunk [emoji1] it's all good though since the last two days were double sessions I hit my numbers for the week. I'll probably do something light tomorrow though. To pass the time though I finished ready to run and did a lot of mobility work over the day.Big plus today, I got good food for all my meals yay [emoji4] turkey breast with potatoes and salad for lunch and grilled steak with green beans and a baked potato for dinner. My breakfast is always fine I just get some combination of eggs and whole grains.More relaxing now for the evening, hope everyone's having a good weekend! Chris56Ryan
One week down and it went pretty well health and fitness wise I think. Week 2 now and I'm thankfully off the oil rig in the morning [emoji4] but before that I got two trips to the gym in today the first one was for resistance training with the main focus being my squats. Then the second trip was my cardio 30 minutes on a cross trainer waiting for the threadmill then a 5k run on that.Food not too bad today but I had a treat for my last night good ole apple strudel.
