Edigo' 8th : resting but not lazy

Edigo

Recommended Posts

So, hi again guys, I am back. Today I am in my 27th week of pregnancy. Monday 10th is my last working day, and then I will be into a preventive leave for the rest of it.

While in this resting period, I do want to rest and follow my energy level, but I don’t want to get lazy and become a couch potato. I want to have fun, sleep good, move to get back in shape, and fuel my body right.

The pitfall here is not eating enough or good food, since being home I tend to eat whatever is available at whatever time of day. But my glycemic being what it is in the pregnancy (it’s alright in general but I do big peaks and lows), I need to be careful and continue to eat 5 meals a day. And I feel super dehydrated, so I want to up my water intake.

Fatigue prevented me from working out (ok laziness too) except for my weekly yoga class, so I want to get back into a more active lifestyle doing exercise I love: yoga, Pilates, walking.

In preparation for delivery and postpartum, I want to get a gratitude journal going, to keep me focused on the good. I figure 2 months of this is going to create a good habit and make an interesting amount of good stuff to read on the bad days. I might include a daily quote to reflect on or whatever.

I also want to declutter the house one cupboard/area at a time to make more space & peace in my life, and get into a cleaning schedule on a daily basis.

Salary will be cut down quite a bit, and so I want to keep busy doing fun stuff that is free. TV is already out of my daily life in general, and I want it to stay that way. So I want to try new things or find new ways to do what I love and do some crafting.

Here goas :

MAIN GOAL: Live life to its fullest, enjoy every moment, be a positive person. By fueling my body right, moving it so I can follow my boyfriend and son, sleep enough to be joyful, and focus on the right things in life.

1)    MOV : shape up my everexpanding shape by moving 45 min a day, 5 times a week

a.    Daily morning yoga : spine and leg stretch

b.    30 min various activities: prenatal yoga, prenatal Pilates, and/or walking. Doing just one of those daily is the goal, but doing walking + yoga/Pilates is the aim I want to reach. I will allow my energy level determine what it will be.

c.     Do kiegels daily : 3 sets of 10

2)    NOM : fuel my body right

a.    5 meals a day (3 meals + 2 snacks), as clean as possible.

b.    Drink 2 water bottles a day (24oz each)

3)    Z: sleep 8h a day or more

a.    Maintain the sleeping schedule I gained in the previous challenges

b.    Set a short night routine: brush and floss teeth, wash face.

4)    LIFE: be positive and have fun

a.    Gratitude journal: 3 things a day, and/or positive quote.

b.    NO spending: i don't have wiggle room at all, and i need to learn how to live without spending. I am blessed to have everything I need and more. Spending on stupid cluttering stuff is not allowed.

c.    Do a fun FREE activity (read, walk, craft with what I already have, soap making, learn lao, read hypno delivery book)

5)    BONUS : make space

a.    Daily cleaning chores : follow my schedule and adapt it along the way, about 15 min a day

b.    Declutter: one small thing a day. I made a list I will aim to finish by the end of my preventive leave.

I want to stay accountable here on a daily basis, probably at night. I am still pondering if I will write the journal here, on paper or both, we will see.

Knowing me, the challenge will adapt along the way, so week one will be a trial to see if and how this is manageable, and I will tweak as necessary.

I will not distribute points at this time; I will see how I did at the end of the challenge, or each week and do it that way.

I will participate in mini’s as I see fit

And in the girly pvp : for washing my face, witch aligns with my sleep routine goal.

I'll try to post my crafting experiments here

I want to try making cold porcelain, and will do an advent calender of tiny ornaments to put on a mini christmas tree. I dont want to spend money on chocolat advent calendar or lego advent calendar. Trying to add fun rituals with my son without always relying on buying stuff. (But, we probably will buy some anyway...).

One of my collegues bought all my soap (yipee!!) so i need to make all the batches again :)

And i have friendship bracelets supplies, felt fabric, and stuff i cant remember. I'll try to use it all to make cool stuff.

Hi Edigo

Love your goals - you have just 1 day at work left?

The crafting experiments sound so fun!! :)

I like to read http://becomingminimalist.com/for inspiration on not spending and having space and time for the real good things in life.

Have you thought about what kind of birth you will be having?  I have even started considering a waterbirth! :)

Well i cant really chose my birth. I'll be at a high risk pregnancy hospital abd they dont do waterbirth.

But i might prepare during the working in the contractions in a bath.

Also id like to give birth squatting with the help of earth gravity, instead of layer down on the bed. So not confortable.

But basicly i have zero expectations. Whatever happens happens. Natural birth without epidural if possible but i keep an open mind. I'm fine with every possible way as long as kiddo is healthy and gets out lol

I had no birth plan with Midget Mayhem - I figured the doctors and nurses know what they're doing, so I'll let them boss me around. By the time she condescended to grace us with her presence, I was so DONE being pregnant that I went full white girl and I literally couldn't even. It was nice to have someone else be in charge.

But while on maternity leave, I digitalized all of my mom's old OLD film negatives. It was really fun and really crazy - I had never seen some of those photos before! I loved having a non-important, somewhat crafty, pick-it-up and put-it-down little (well, HUGE, it was a big box) project to do.

Sounds like lots of crafting fun that should be easy on the budget, too! That's great that all your soaps sold - what kind do you make?

Have you thought of doing your gratitude journal as an "altered art" journal? You can do collages and doodles and lots of other fun stuff to go with your quotes and thoughts in one, using materials you already have. I've seen some in magazines and they look like a lot of fun to do. Something fun, crafty, and inspirational while you wait for the little guy to arrive and go after your other challenge goals.

The soap i make is cold processed, with mica colors and fragrances. I usually make the same ones over and over (cucumber; maple; pomegranate-mango; citrus; sparkling poinsetia; evasion; bleu raspberry) and some others i feel like making.

For the journal i thought off the doodle ones but am always clueless how to do it. The most important is to get the habit going though. I do have colored pens i use as i feel like it. But the idea is cool :D

Those soaps sound wonderful - nice fragrances!

I want to try taking scraps of colored paper or pieces of pictures from magazines - flowers and birds and stuff like that - and layer and glue them on the page, then draw designs around them. The black and white is getting boring.

Colored pens are fun and liven things up!

Day 1, november 10th

today was my last day at work.

- mov : no movement today ...

- nom : drank 1 water bottle and ate 5 meals

- z : slept 7h, and did night routine

- life : gratitude journal done, no spending. Read a little.

- make space : chores are done (wash bathroom, dishes, water plants), and some declutter done yesterday was sold to friends today (soapy stuff i didn't use anymore, was sold to 2 friends from work i just teached how to make it last week)

So, today the girly pvp was done (wash face)

And, for mini 1 : be brave (part 1)

well, i just did my budget for the next 3 months, as well as for maternity leave. And i can't make it work... i'm in the red. I will know the $ i will raelly make in about 2-4 weeks, and will see if the budget is realistic or not. But for now it doesn't look too good. I was scared to find that result, and have no clue how to fix it. i am wondering if i should have worked longer instead, but i know my health is more important. too late anyway, i stopped working and my replacement is there.

the next step will be to be honest with my bf and figure it out together, and that scares me shitless .... This will be hard. i don't know how it will turn out, i am scared that bad choices i made repetedly in the past will make him want to leave me. I hope we are stronger than that, but i feel so stupid at the moment.

i figure, if i show i can be a good housewife (!), clean well, cut general spending in our housing expanses, keep groceries low, it might ease the hardship a little... but this seems like so little compared to this big challenge.

i know we'll figure it out but it just seems so BIG... holy shit

keep-calm-we-will-make-it-through-this-y

676bc495460813ce4e5b1a8fd2b02839.jpg

And because i don't want this post to end on me being depressed about this situation, or scared, or powerless :

1) i am grateful to be able to go on preventive leave and still have part of a salary, even if at 55% i don't know how to make it work. It could have been nothing.

2) I am grateful that the pregnancy is going 100% well with not weird or uncomfortable side effects.

3) i am grateful to be able to carry a second child, this is a miracle in itself

4) i am grateful that this hardship will eventually pass and all will be back to normal $ wise in a little more than a year

5) i am grateful to have everything i need and more, and trust i can live without spending for the next year. I think it will be hard but a good life lesson for me, if i'm open enough to be tought.

6) i am grateful that so many things in life are free : reading, laughing, the sunrise and sunset, walking, love, and many more.

this ain't so bad at all :)

I've not started my family yet, but I have a bunch of buddies that have and on separate occasions they have all said similar things to this

none of them felt financially ready or able to have a family, and now that they have done it they don't know how they have done it. All they know is that somehow they found a way to make it work, they made a way out of no way.

I appreciate that's not specific advice, but it does show you that you will persevere
