Like any other Guardian, Snake has been born again, ready to fight the darkness of sloth and fat, ready to defend the light of exercise and nutrition, he has three paths to walk in this journey, as he comes back from the dead to take his place amongst the Guardians of the Rebellion to drive back the darkness for the Traveler!

 

The Path of the Titan

"The sheer mass of a Titan's Armor is enough to break stone"

Titans are the stalwart Knights of the Traveler's light, powerful warriors who walk the front line to beat the Darkness back. With thick plates of Plasteel Armor and the heaviest of weapons, Titans need to be strong. In order to meet the demand I need to lift heavy, to improve my strength so that I crush the stone, not be crushed by the stone.

Lift weights 2 times a week shooting for 3, or do bodyweight if I can't get the weights themselves in

3 points to strength 

If I average 3x a week throughout the challenge I will by heavier plates

 

 

The Path of the Warlock

"Those who have stared into the Void are not bound by the laws of space and time."

Walocks are masters of knowledge and recovery, providing havens and sustenance for their fellow guardians when out of there solitude. In order to recover quickly Warlocks have to eat right, mindfully, listening to what their bodies need, not the calorie dense fare others eat, but a nutrient dense food, to give their bodies the light they need.

Avoid processed foods as much as possible, including fast food and instant food, allow myself one processed starch meal per week (such as pasta) and start eating fish at least twice a week.

The Path of the Hunter

"A Hunters bootprints mark the edge of civilization"

Hunters are masters of self sufficiency, the scouts and rogues of the Guardian ranks. Hunters spend extended periods of time away from the tower keeping the wilderness safe, roaming farther than any other guardian. They are the eyes and ears of the Tower, their stamina is unrivaled. In order to keep up with the Hunters Snake needs to keep is stamina up by making sure to work on his cardio.

Do cardio 2x a week minimum, shooting for 3x a week for at least 30 min

3 points to Stamina

If I make 3x a week average throughout the challenge I will get new running shoes

 

Guardians Work Together

"The strength of the wolf is the pack, and the strength of the pack, is the wolf"

Guardians are best when they work together, when they are social, using their skills to complement each other. I have not been as social as I should have, I need to build myself a fire team. To do that I need to get out there and meet people. This challenge I will try to be more social, go out with friends/coworkers, go to meetups, anything to interact with other people, I will get one point to charisma (up to 4) for every time I do that.

So I am in fact back (resurrected one might say) after a longer-than-expected absence after failing a challenge. I think I missed 2, but it's impossible to be completely sure,  so I'm trying to come back and get on track again, just to where I was...I wonder if I can deduct stat points since I've atrophied....lol

Welcome back!  I've been out of action a similar time (and also jumped over from the Scouts).  I think you can definitely deduct stat points if you need to though the goal is working on your own self development rather than necessarily punishing yourself.  What has happened, has happened and it's really important to learn from though and work out how to use that to not fail next time.

 

Since we're both prodigal sons, and have some similar goals (my overall goal is to get back to at least four days of workouts a week both running and weights - I don't have any food goals this time though I could probably do to look at it and I could always build my wolf pack strength), if you'd like to be teammates this challenge (see the mini-challenge thread) I'm up for it.

Indeed sir! welcome to the rangers! I am trying to build my pack because I realized my entire pack was my mate and progeny lol as a 30 year old I should probably have at least a few friends, but, well, that's what you get when your a socially anxious nerd that dislikes large groups :-p I might take you up on the offer to partner up though, I'll take a look

Hit the gym last night! I jogged/walked a half a mile last night for a warm up then 3x10 squats, 3x10 assissted pull ups (I can't do pull ups anymore...sob) then 3x10 benchpress, it's a good start, I'm going to do week one day one of the couch to 5 k today and see how that goes

 

I'm doing well on the food front, last night I had hand pulled noodles and beef for lunch, cereal for breakfast, and tuna steaks with brocolli for dinner, delicious and pretty good for me as well

So far today I've had eggs and bacon such a wonderful breakfast meal, for lunch I'm having green beans pan sauteed with butter and bacon and some leftover barbecue, ribs and brisket, so I am eating pretty good I think so far, no junk, and relatively healthful foods

 

Normally I like to make my rest day sunday, the mate is off that day and it's nice to spend a day as a family, BUT i have plans for tomorrow, you see I have to get the companion to this:

Great challenges, also totally AWESOME TATTOO! One of friends recently got a stormtrooper on the left part of his left chest and Boba Fett on the right, but I gotta say I prefer yours 'cause lightsabers are badass, especially dual-wielding light-sabres!

Thank you! I knew I had to come back because I started feeling old again lol, I've been wanting to get tattoos like these for probably close to a decade, and I finally just said "I'm doing it!"

yea, in TFU wasn't there that cloud city level that if you killed one of the enemies the wrong way you couldn't beat the level? it was a great story though

Now for an update!

first off, yesterday was rest day, for obvious reasons:

it's still wrapped and my arm feels like hamburger lol 

lifting will be a little difficult today so I will probably focus on my legs (even though I prefer to do three compound lifts for a full body) so I might end up with soemthing like squats (although...these will also be interesting) Deadlifts (should be fine right?) and I'm gonna try and get an overhead press in but I'm not sure if I'll be able to bend my arm like that lol

 

My diet has been pretty decent, well, I ate chinese takeout yesterday as I didn't get done until 8, and everyone was hungry (me especially because I had only had bacon and eggs that morning and nothing while being tattooed (I do not eat for a few hours before or at all during a session, I don't want to be the guy that threw up while getting inked lol)

on a side note, waking up early suuuuuccckkkksss the whole dev and IT department got chewed out because none of us have made it to the office before 9:45 in 2 months, and the average has moved to 10:30 lol I didn't get to make bacon and eggs and had to settle for a protein bar

I ate ok, had my pasta dish for the week last night, ssoooo yea, but I tried to excercise and it was a nonstarter, couldn't bend my arm to squat right, so I did 3 sets of body weight, couldn't grip the bar for deads, and I couldn't bend my arm enough for OH press, sooo I'm feeling bummed that I can't life weights, because I really really like lifting weights, I know it's my fault, you aren't really supposed to get a session longer than 4-6 hours tops, but me and my artist both were just like "yea let's knock it out" hopefully next week it doesn't hurt to much to pick thinkgs up :-p

Alritey ladies and gents! this weekend I went on 2 runs! (one was obviously in lieu of the weights I couldn't lift, woopsie lol)

Today in a little bit I will head to the office gym for weights, I can bend my arm a good bit, I might hurt a tiny bit but I'll be fine I do believe lol

3x8 squats

then 3x8 OH press

then 1x8 Deadlift

 

my form will probably not be perfect, but I'm going to try!

breakfast this morning was oatmeal! not ideal but I'll allow it (I still have problems waking up early enough to make bacon and eggs lol)

 

lunch, in progress is a baggy of nuts and some left over green beans....yay?

 

will update after I go to the gym!

I make eggs almost every day, bacon however is trickier - I usually make a bunch and keep it in the fridge, or make breakfast sausage patties.  

 

What's a gym....OH! A GYM!

I was able to life today! thank the sweet glorious gods below!

The arm has finally healed enough that bending it does not make me feel as though it will explode

EXPLOITS:

3x8 squats

3x8 OH Press
1x8 Dead lift

I dropped my weights down since it has been so long

I don't have an olympic bar, it only weighs 15 pounds so:

Squats: 65

OH Press: 65

Dead: 85 (I just can't bring myself to go all the way down)

 

I had breakfast tacos for dinner last night, egg, bacon, potato, same for lunch (shhh I know) I didn't eat breakfast because of reasons

 

before that I had 5 guys, I'm allowed to cheat once in awhile so I did lol, but no more!

 

I would have gone out yesterday for happy hour, but my wife had a bad day and when I asked if it was ok she got a bit upset.....so I didn't do that, maybe I'll get another chance soon who knows? maybe some of you awesome people in my area will take pity on an introverted socially anxious nerd and offer to hang out....but I'm not counting on it :-P

 

so that's where I'm at so far, working on my diet and getting back to it now that I actually can woot!

 

OH! I almost forgot, my fitbit crapped out on me (wouldn't charge, long story) I finally got them to send me a new one, I'm setting it up tonight and will start updating with data from it as well

I bet that felt so good to get in the gym and move some weight! I would totally hang out with you, I am socially anxious and so is my husband and housemate haha. We don't get out much. That reminds me my heart rate monitor took a crap and apparently I have to buy the strap and ''see if that the problem'' according to the company. :rolleyes:  I wanted them to just send me a new one. Maybe I should look for a new gadget.

NEHOO! For the updates

I have been hitting my lifting goal (2x a week) every week, and am much proud, and have successfully added 15 pounds to all my weights hee hee, that will continue to go up and I have ordered a pair of 45 pound plates to be delivered to the office (them bitches is expensive!)\

running, or cardio for that matter, I am less proud of, ITS SO BORING!

seriously, I need to find a new thing to do, I'm only making it once a week, it's getting bad

 

My diet isn't great, but I'm coping, and doing better, I'm eating less like shit, and I haven't had any fast food yet, so I have that going for me, some fast casual yes, (5 guys, chipotle) so I could do better, but I'm not eating fast food or tons of junk so that's good.

 

I HAD TO GET A ROOT CANAL! yes, this is true, it was terrible, I was on opiates for like 3 days (by the way, aside from pee and vomit, nothing comes out of your body while you're on opiates, it's weird) as a consequence at one point I weight like 222 pounds, but after I went off them (second day off) things...happened sorry if that's tmi, now I'm down to like 215 so I have that going for me, with a stricter diet I could do even better, I am doing amazing things with leftovers though, somewhere I have food pr0n I will try to upload in the next day or two, so stay tuned! 

Tomorrow's weight session is all 5 lifts, with 5 more pounds added each:

Squat 3x8 up to 85lbs

OH Press 3x8 also at 85 lbs

Barbell row 3x8 also at 85lbs

Bench 3x8 at 85

and finally deadlift 1x8 at 105 lbs

 

I'm doing a weight system inspired by 5x5, same moves, different set up,

Monday is squat, oh, deadlift 

Wednesday is squat, bench, barbell row

Friday I do all 5 (when I get to friday) and I generally add 10 pounds per week (5 pounds each time I do an excercise, except squats, I add mon and fri)

 

as for cardio...ugh, I run, I did a 13:20 mile....so I have that going for me, it's just so boring, I need different cardio, maybe I should buy myself a rowing machine or something, any advice fellow rebels?

Hey Snake, Love that video! Yess cardio can be boring, but it doesn't have to be. I like bodyweight circuits or barbell complexes, short intense and KIND of like a game, they make me feel like I am an athlete rather then a hamster. :P

You can either do try to do as many circuits as you can in a certain time frame, or just x amount of rounds through the circuit. Pick 4-6 bodyweight exercises, try to alternate upper and lower body intensive and go.

 

Barbell complexes, here is an example:

 

Back squat

OH press

front squat

bent over row

Romanian Deadlift

 

Pick a weight that you can get 6 reps with on the Overhead press. Do 6 reps of each exercise back to back with no rest, at the end of all 5 exercises, rest 30-60 sec and repeat 3-5 times.

 

I also like hill sprints, or stair sprints.

 I HATE HATE  HATE slow boring cardio. That game in the video looks fun too :P
