Captncid: Finally made it to the Assassins!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!!

I'm excited to finally be here! For a little background, here was my last challenge.

http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/53877-captncid-is-it-hot-in-here-or-is-it-just-me/

Now, for the main event!

Quest 1: salute the morning! (+5 DEX)

In my quest to move more like a professional practitioner of parkour, I need to increase my overall range of motion in all my joints.

The plan: 5 full sun salutations and 5 30 second bridges first thing of the day.

Pass = at least 30 times over the challenge.

Quest 2: seriously decrease daily intake of energy drinks. +5 CON

I currently drink an average of 4 16 oz energy drinks per day. An unfortunate byproduct of overworking myself for years.

The plan: decrease by 1 drink a day per week until down to only 1 per day.

Pass = 1 energy drink per day for at least 7 days in a row.

Quest 3: achieve level 7 in the NF Academy.

+ 2 STR, + 3 STA

I am currently a lvl 5 assassin with 288/300 exp in the academy.

I will do my best to post as much as I can during the challenge, however I can almost guarantee it won't be everyday. I will keep track in a notebook and post pics of the pages here!

Now, to start the challenge off, a little inspiration!

nice!

hey do you have a smartphone? I just found an app that makes it super easy to track how much caffeine I'm drinking, it's the jawbone up coffee app.

but I know your notepad works super well too. :)

I'm sure that you'll manage to get your energy drinks down, just keep trying :D

And have fun wherever you're going.

I will. I am going to Rivera Maya in Mexico. Time to chill on the beach for a week! I'll take pictures.

Do you have something to substitute for the energy drinks? Maybe kombucha, or sparkling water?

Not as if yet. It may come down to cold turkey on my trip, even though I can get a red bull whenever. Nice part about vacation is I don't have to really be anywhere. :)

I've had some time so far to rest and de stress. Here is the view from my balcony:

Absolutely awesome!

The most exciting thing about this trip is I get to mark off a quest from my epic quest list: zip lining through the jungle. My wife approached me wanting to conquer some fears and asked if I'd be willing to go with her on that one. Of course! :)

We are going here:

I'm going to do my best to get an epic shot in my NF shirt and send it into the NF team.

It should be fun!!

I'll update again as soon as I can!

Looks like a brilliant place to rest and destress :)

I'm so curious about the Sharpie-looking marks on your notebook...

And looking forward to possible zipline pics! Doing any snorkeling?

The sharpie marks are courtesy of my 5 year old son. I'm just working around them. :)

I'll do my best with pictures, from the sounds of it, I'll have to get a waterproof camera for the day.

No snorkeling, at least not yet...

Have an awesome trip! It is GORGEOUS there.

(And I was sure those marks were a kid thing! )

Sent from my iPhone while riding a unicorn through the cosmos.

Will do! And :P

As you may notice, I have gone over a week straight with only 1 energy drink per day. When I was in Mexico, I was able to simply cut down to the amount I wanted. The strange thing was I got sick a few times while I was down there and my mood would sour very quickly. I figured I just ate something that disagreed with me since I did not drink the water down there and just shrugged it off. The feeling followed me home and I started to get cravings for cigarettes again. I found this extremely odd and spent a good chunk of the day figuring out why I would crave a cigarette because of cutting down on energy drinks. I found out that not only did I cut out a significant amount of caffeine from my diet, I also cut a huge amount of sugar out. I assumed since I used to smoke and my body was aware it was a stimulant was why I was craving tobacco. I found out when they process tobacco, they dip the leaves in a sugar solution to make it somewhat palatable. I was craving the SUGAR!! I'm sure as well the stimulant as well. So I may increase my consumption of energy drinks temporarily and then cut back down so it doesn't freak my system out so bad.

Made me think of ewoks :)

Looks super fun!

It was a blast. The cool part about the park is about 65% of it is underground. We also did an underground river swim and underground raft tour as well. Too dark for pics however extremely cool!!
