Faline
Well I fell away for six months, gained ten pounds, and now I am back. After radical life changes I am ready to get focused start alll overrrr againnnn! Diet: One of my radical changes was my diet... I left the world of vegetarianism and am now working towards an 80/20 Paleo diet. I want focus most of this challenge on my eating habits. Eating meat again has been easy but I feel like when I started eating meat again I started eating all the other stuff I had cut too. (too much sugar and carbs!!) Fitness: Another change for me has been cutting my cardio and Yoga DVDs and replace them with weight lifting. I will be focusing on two weightlifting workouts, rotating them Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and also rotating their set #s 5x5 and 3x5. Also, Tuesday and Saturday I will start a sprinting workout. Workout one: Pull-up: 5x5 or 3x5 (assisted for now) Deadlift: 5x5 or 3x5 Bench Press: 5x5 or 3x5 (optional) Workout Two:Push press: 5x5 or 3x5 Barbell Squats: 5x5 or 3x5 Bench press: 5x5 or 3x5 (optional) Workout Three: 8x2 sprinting workout Life: Oh life, how you confuse me! My life goal is to figure out what I want to do with my life!! I officially finish my Masters in Dec and I have no idea what I want to do!! Also, I want to organize my apartment and let go of the items that I have horded over the years. This challenge will be a tuff one but I have had a 6 months break and I need to recreate good habits!! Faline
First day of challenge was on point for me! Eating went well...only off menu item was half a Tuna sandwich on Rye. Working out was fun! I love lifting for some odd reason. Did workout #1.. Pull-ups 5x5 Assisted on 19 (need to figure out how much that is lol) Deadlifts 5x5 with 95lbs (My fav exercise!) Bench press 4x5 no extra weight added because I am trying to work on balance and form. Tomorrow hopefully will be my first sprinting workout.... scary!!!! Got 40 minutes of walking in and four extra flights of stairs climbed! So overall an A+ workout day! Sadness Is Easy Because It is Surrender http://twitter.com/#!/PsychoLoLCat Link to comment
Faline
Days two and three Yesterday was good overall, did not get to sprint but eating was on point Today I did workout #2 with 95lbs 5x5 Barbell Squats, 55lbs 5x5 push press, and 45 5x5 on bent over barbell rows. Eating was overall good, substitued a Pita sandwich(paleo fail) for lunch but everything else was great.. So I consider is a success Tomorrow is suppose to be my off day for exercise but I might throw something in there because tuesday was a fail, hopefully something fun!! Faline
Alrighty, days four and five Yesterday was okay, It was girl's night and that equals...carbs. arggg but today was on point with eating so I am even? lol The weekend will be the challenge. No workout yesterday but Today I did Workout #1 Assisted pullups, 3x5 with 100lbs assistance, Deadlifts 5x5 105lbs, and barbell bench presses 5x5 65 lbs. So increased my Deadlifts and presses and slid back a little on assisted pull ups (they are the bane of my exsistence lol) Hopefully I will find something fun to do this weekend that does not involved Youtube or Video games lol. Faline
Weekend was good overall, eating was on point and got some 10 push-ups and 20 jackknife thingys for three sets on my exercise ball while playing video games lol. I wanted to start adding sprints into my week but for some reason It never happened... So maybe not so good for fitness. My weekend was filled with replaying Kingdom of Hearts #1 on PS2 lol... My determination to beat the game overtook my weekend and I still did not finish it! Arg Today was WO#2 105x5 5 sets for squats....Personal best 65x5 5 sets for push presses ..would be a personal best but I really struggled with set four and five, I consider this a failure overall but it was fun 65x5 5 sets for bent over barbell row...these were tuff...I am having trouble keeping my elbows in close to my sides. I am not sure if I need to reduce the weight and just work on it or if I can just keep trying with the weight I have. Ponderings Eating was okay, Normal breakfast...had some awesome BBQ for lunch but killed it with two slices of green chilli pineapple pizza for dinner ...Fail. Hopefully less of a fail tomorrow, we will see Sadness Is Easy Because It is Surrender http://twitter.com/#!/PsychoLoLCat Link to comment

Faline
How are you doing, Faline?I am doing great! Plugging away Tuesday... lazy day with only walkingToday was WO#1 ~Assisted pullups ... the bane of my existence... Still sitting at 100lbs assisted got a 5x5 in ~Dead Lifts ...My new favorite lift ..... 115 5x5 for my new best .... Despite being able to lift the weight correctly I feel that my hand grip is going to hold me back. I need to look up ways to improve it~Benchpresses....second favorite.... 70lbs 5x5 for another new high...Yay....they got pretty difficult towards the end but I struggled through it.Got a nice long walk in around campus today along with climbing as many stairs as I could find. Eating has been going well too... Funny thing... I am having more problems with people feeding me...I have a supervisor where I intern that is constantly feeding me....I try to politely decline but she is always doing it! Killing me with Kindness. lol I don't want to be rude so depending on what it is I might have a taste but yesterday she was trying to feed me a cinnamon bun. I politely took a small piece, thanked her telling her I had just ate (because she had just fed me), and I found a task to do that took me away lol Life goals...I am trying to find time ..really I am (excuses)....My house still needs organizing and this weekend is going to be a full one so we will see.Overall I feel great and think I am doing well. I feel stronger and am starting to have "skinny" days as I call them. Skirler
But you'll be soooo prepared if there IS a zombie apocalypse!Stupid question time ... when you say "115 5x5" - exactly what does that mean? 115 pounds, 5 sets of 5 reps? I cannot wait to try weight lifting. I have only small dumbbells at home - but I would love, love, love to work with barbells. I'll eventually get there. My mother does that with food - always trying to feed me! So I understand how hard it is to say no. You are doing fabulously, and thanks GOBS for posting encouragement in my thread. Faline
Friday went great...eating went well and lifting was fun ..as usual Squats 5x5 with 115lbs Push Presses 5x5 with 65lbs random 20x5 crunches. The squats felt good but the Push Presses are not getting any easier. I feel like all the arms exercises are plateauing and I have barely started lifting. More work I guess lol Ahhh the weekend Exercise went okay...Wanted to go jogging but School work got in the way..No Gym but I did a 5x5 for squats and push ups yesterday and a 3x5 for squats and push ups today... with some ending yoga poses for relaxing Food... evil food... I made most reasonable attempts to eat good lol... This is the weekend before my birthday so Friday was Indian food with friends. (my fav) Saturday was Fondue with some family. Today I tried to make up for it but... my husband is too sweet for me (literally lol) and he bought me a piece of my fav cake from the store lol. We had agreed that I did not want a cake for my birthday but he found a loophole lol. I ate half of the slice and stuck the rest in the fridge for later guilt lol. Other than that I have stayed on track...Only one birthday celebration dinner left then I am in the free! Life goals...None! I really need to focus on this, sad that my life goals get put aside for silly stuff... Priority check needed! Hrunter
Mmm what do you like to eat when you get indian food? Having a ton of birthday celebrations can really make a bump in the road, but keep working on it! Remember: Aim for 100%, expect 80%! Looks like you're still rocking, Faline! Ganbatte! lyasya
I absolutely agree with you about the priorities. The other staff is kind of easier to do... Happy Belated Birthday! Link to comment
Faline
Ahhh a week later... Ya know I realize that sometimes I am not too busy to do things just find slacker things to do. My week was good, skiped the gym on friday but got an hour walk in. Eating has been going well, I am really struggling with no going out to eat but I feel I am making good progress. I love my husband and don't want to punish him for my weight loss so I give in more than I should. My weekend was meh....Eating was mostly good (husband brought chocolate again but I made him eat some of it too) No working out ..sad I know. I thought it would be a good idea to start playing Oblivion again because Skyrim just came out and I am going to get it for Christman. I was like an addict all weekend lol. Atleast I had fun...Did manage to get Homework done for the most part. Counting down the days till this semester is over !! @Hrunter- I love all Indian food lol, My fav is Saag Paneer (sp?) I just started eating non-veggie Indian food but I really have not found anything I don't like (other than the pickled mango stuff that's name evades me). @Lyasya- Yep I threw my priorities away again lol.. thanks for the birthday wishes! bildungsroman
Why can't gaming be a Priority? That's what I said when Starcraft II came out =)How about making gaming a reward for a successful workout or not eating out that week? Skirler
Can you play while standing? Maybe kinda' combine 'em <grin> Way to go on the eating! Faline
@ bildungsroman That sounds like a good idea...No gaming unless I put in a workout first, I am good as saying, "I will workout afterwards" @ Skirler I should try to do it while standing, I am not sure how it would work out tho lol...could be a good challenge It might make me play less ..hmm Halfway through the week and I would say.. Kinda fail? Skipped working out again monday, arg Did get to the gym today tho Deadlifts 125lbs 5x5 Assisted pull ups... 100 or 105 assisted (ahhh memory bad) Both sets were low because 6 days without weights makes me a weak onel Still struggling with my grip on deadlifts I know I could lift more if my grip would improve but I guess I am limited until I can strengthen my hands. Eating was okay. Since the start of the challange I have been very good about being mindful of my eating and I feel I am doing great on creating better eating habits. So Win there Hopefully I can finish the week with a win Sadness Is Easy Because It is Surrender http://twitter.com/#!/PsychoLoLCat Link to comment
lyasya
You can also try sitting on the exercise ball - I've heard it burns more calories. Link to comment
Skirler
Oooo the exercise ball is a nifty idea! Great suggestion, Lyasya. Or maybe some seated yoga positions, too. Cobbler's pose, an adapted Half Lord of the Fishes pose (sheesh where did they come up with these names LoL). Maybe you can get yourself a book on some Yoga poses, and find some nifty ones you can incorporate into you game playing? Or is that a butt-stupid idea?? Faline - are you doing any hand-specific strengthening work to help with your grip? Way to go on the mindful eating. Faline
Using an exercise ball seems like a great idea lol I have one sitting around the house that I don't use (other than to throw at people or animals lol) Yoga poses would be fun to try while gaming but I use a lot of concentration just to keep my balance I am going look up the poses that you mentioned Skirler and see how it goes. My goal for this weekend is to finish a book I am reading so hopefully gaming will be to a minimum. RIght now all I have for working on grip is the grip things? LoL I don't know what they are called....a V shaped with a coil that you open and close lol I should really get in the habit of using it more ...but it is so small it is easy to lose. Yesterday was ok, Did a small workout to wake me up because it was not a lifting day 5 sets of squats with two twenty pound dumbells and 5 sets of arm raises with 15s. Eating was good other than the cabinets being almost empty and having to use backup food for dinner (stuff we don't really eat anymore lol) Atleast I knew it was not a so good dinner Sadness Is Easy Because It is Surrender http://twitter.com/#!/PsychoLoLCat Link to comment
