Here's where we talk about how awesome we're all going to be in 2015.

I've signed up for all 5 MEC (Canadian equivalent to REI) races in my neck of the woods.  Insane value ($60 for all five), and I can bike to most, if not all, locations.

Goals for them, in chronological order:

5k trail - This will be more of a "just for fun" race to see if I like trail running enough to try a longer distance.

5k - Under 22:00 would be ideal.

10k - I'm presently at 47:26 for a 10k, and I'd like to see a marked improvement.  It's on my daughter's birthday, so I'll have some extra motivation.

15k - My 10-mile PR is 1:36, so I'd like to do some damage to that time and finish under 1:15.

Half-marathon - I ran 2:05 in my first, but that was in 2011.  I'll be shooting for 1:45, but should have a better idea of what's realistic after the 15k.

The best part about the MEC races is you get 10% off anything in the story on the race weekend.

The last one I did was the Marchish one 2 years ago... Infact I have not ran any races in a while. The last race I did was a HM in May of 2013.  I've put down 1209 training kilometers according to my runkeeper since then... but no races.

I put down a new PR on a 5k on Monday, 23:05, and this was without any motivation beyond I want to run fast today. What kind of results could I put down with an organized race, with the pressure of an audience, with the pace set by faster runners...

A race in 2015 is needed... a goal, that still needs to be figured.

Currently lost in Fitness.

My main running goal will be my first full marathon, hopefully in September 2015. I want to enjoy it, not break myself doing it, and get round in under 3:45.

Secondary goals will be new PBs at 5k, 10k, and the half marathon, but we'll see.....

Looking to break under the 2 hour mark for my half marathon PR ... was pretty sure I'd do it in Fall 2014 but injury stole my chance away

Running isn't a high priority for me in 2015 in the interest of gaining skills to make me a more employable actress, but some things I would like to gun for if I can!

  1. Half marathon in 2:15:00 or faster
  2. 10K in under one hour
  3. 5K in 28 minutes or faster

Again, not top priorities and I won't be disappointed if I don't reach these, but it's still something to keep in mind when I start training for them. ^_^

I started running about nine years ago, about 25 miles per week on suburban pavement, and about 7 years ago I just about made it to 50km during a winter 6hr race on Montreal's Mount Royale. Since then I pretty much stopped completely due to a constant reoccurance of one injury or another, usually my ITB.

For 2015 I want to start *slowly and smartly* adding trail miles with the hopes of going for a 10 miler on trails in Gatineau Park this Fall. If I can do that without injuring myself I will be deliriously happy!

Those aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.  Lots of actors run, and I know one who actually makes it part of his process.

Biggest thing for me is staying injury-free, as I was wracked last year. Plantar Fasciitis in the left foot, Tendonosis in the right, gashed the bottom of my left foot on a nail in my porch... I was laid up so much, I just need to be able to keep running this year.

If I can do that, I'd also like to:

1. Run another half marathon this fall

2. Register for Savage Race in April

Times don't matter; I just want the half-marathon distance, and I've been dying to try a Savage Race or Spartan Run. I've got some friends signed up for Savage Race already, so hopefully I'll be strong enough by then!

10k in less than 1:05 (My first and so far only 10k was 1:08)

Complete a Sprint Triathlon - Signed up for on on June 13th. Pretty sure I can do it in under 1:45, under 1:30 would be amazing.

Cumulative running distance this year:

Bronze: At least 500km

Silver: At least 600km

Gold: At least 750km

I've got plenty of races scheduled...

Big ones are the 500 Festival Mini Marathon (13.1mi) on May 2nd and the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 7th.  I enjoy the half marathon distance and my goal is to break 2 hours. I ran a full marathon 2 years ago with my wife but it was just as support for her. I tried my own last spring but got as far as 4.5mi before a stress fracture forced me to retire. I'm signed up for November 7th this year.

My next race is a 10K in March... then I've got some 8Ks scheduled through the year... I'm just getting back to my regular pace after my stress fracture, but I'm not there yet.

I did the Monumental this past year, its a nice mostly flat course. This year it was the day after halloween and there were a lot of people on the side of the road handing out left over candy. A twix bar around mile 10 never tastes so good :) We are debating the 500 mini as well, it collides with the Ky Derby so I'm not sure we would have a baby sitter.

I have a lot of races lined up and I'm hoping for another big year. My primary goals are to hit 2:45:xx (or better) in the Boston Marathon, win the Wausau Marathon (won last year with a time of 2:58:51), and come within striking distance of breaking 2:40:xx at the Twin Cities Marathon (current PR is 2:50:17). I would also like to break 1:20 at the Red, White and Boom! Half Marathon in July (that will be extremely weather dependent more than anything else!).

Best of luck to everyone in 2015!

A week into February and that's one of my secondary goals smashed... new 5k PB (see below). Ridiculously pleased with that - went to a workshop on running form, and it's coincided with a huge improvement... over 5k at least.

I started getting back into running about 1 1/2 years ago and I love the way it makes me feel more active.  I'm lucky to live in an area (NE Ohio) where there are tons of races, tracks, trails, etc. and it is very supportive of the running community in general.  I've been working hard on including strength training this year to help lower my weight and improve my running times. I usually run about a race a month to have fun and keep myself motivated to stay with my training,

I'm taking my 1st attempt at the Akron Ohio 1/2 Marathon this year and I am hoping to finish with a goal of 2:15.

My first 5K of the year will be the St. Patrick's 5K in March and I  am looking to break 28:00.

I will be running 5 X 5K's, 2 X 4 miles, 1 X 8K, 1 X 10K, & 1 X 1/2 Marathon in 2015.

Wish me luck!!

I kept up with running semi-regularly through a bloody cold winter, now it's time to start really building up again - mileage was down in January but that was expected.

If I average what I did in February each month I'll hit my bronze goal.

Update:

Did the 5k trail run. The route was changed, and it wound up being 3.75k, but my 18:13 time was good for 10th place!

trail often tracks incorrectly due to poor GPS and the winding nature of courses.

Good job on the time that's pretty swift stuff

Thanks!  The course was an absolute blast, and that certainly didn't hurt.  Some challenging hills, but gorgeous scenery no matter where you looked.
