Figured I'd start one of these so I can ramble on and on and have some accountability to boot.  ^_^

 

My primary goal for this year is weight loss and mindfulness.  I want to be good to myself.

 

I'm unsure if I'm aiming low or high, but I'm making 199 by 1/1/16 my goal for the year.  That's 60 lbs.  5 lbs a month... I think that's doable.

 

Especially at first, I'm mainly going to work to accomplish this by rehauling the way I eat and drink.  The past few months in particular I allowed myself to stress eat like crazy - donuts, cookies, candy, all sorts of sugary badness.  My soda and alcohol intakes increased as well.  I'm going to work on food first.  I've already cut back significantly on alcohol, so I will keep going with that.  Soda will come after I get food under control.  I don't want to bite off more than I can chew (ha, ha) and set myseful up for failure from the get go.

 

Later this year when I have food and drinks leveled up into better habits, I will build exercise plans.  In the interim I will do minor (but hopefully helpful things) like taking walks when the weather permits.

 

Let's kick 2015's ass.

I am pleased with my progress today.  I got my challenge thread set up.  I have eaten well all day.  I have gotten my water.  Yay!

 

Psyched for the challenge starting Monday, but not waiting til Monday to start on healthier habits.

Just home from grocery shopping.   Trying to remember everything I got and want to document it for ideas later:

OMG the lunch recipe I tried was SO GOOD!   Bonus, my 5 yr old son loved it too!  I have enough ingredients to make another batch, which I may do on Sunday so I have a couple lunches for the beginning of the work week.  

 

I spent about an hour this evening surfing recipes and getting ideas.   I'm pretty determined to find good ways to eat on my budget and get my ever increasing weight under control - depression or no depression - if I don't fix it no one will.

I'm lucky in that I like most veggies.  There are a few common ones I can't stand (most mushrooms, peppers, onions other than scallions) but I got a good mix to pick from.

 

I could eat CRAZY amounts of fruit all day every day though!!  I love every fruit I have ever eaten.  I try and reign this in and eat more veggies than fruit.  I'm using fruit as "dessert" for myself and my son.  AFTER the veggies are all gone off the plate!

Pleased with today.   Had a sliced apple and a handful of strawberries along with some turkey bacon for breakfast.   Lunch was served at my brother's house so I went with what he made (grilled cheese sammies) but only had one and then had an apple and handful of baby carrots.  Only ate 2 of his proudly offered "home made xmas cookies" (even a mere week ago I would have eaten at least 6).  Dinner tonight was lemon pepper chicken breasts and the green been recipe from this blog entry.

Hiya Lanithroe!   Thanks for stopping by.  Nice to meet a Druid, I plan to join your guild "officially" once my first challenge is done.

 

Not much to write about for today.  I did pretty well with eating and water, but that was about it. Other than doing some cooking and meal prep and laundry, I was a slug today.  I didn't even get out of bed til 10am and am still in my jammies.  Lots of reading and netflix.   Looking forward to getting back into my normal routine with work and etc tomorrow!

Busy day today... work was insane and got some OT.  Went super fast which was nice.  I had a decent breakfast this morning of apples and turkey bacon.  Packed a nice lunch for work - a leftover lemon pepper chicken breast and a bag of steamfresh veggies carrots/cauliflower/broccoli.  Om nom nom nom.   Wasn't feeling super inspired for dinner so just made a sammie and hand some carrot sticks.   Getting ready to go to bed.   Nothing really exciting to blog about, but that's okay.  :)

O...M...G....taking an effing shower shouldn't be this hard.   :(

 

Eating veggies, no prob, drinking water, got it, in bed on time, sure.  But showering?  Arrrgggg.

 

I like being clean. I have no idea why this has turned into such a thing. 

 

I'm going to force myself into the water dance once my son is in bed.   Geez.

Today has been a better day. Work was crazy and got some OT (always nice for the paycheck).   Just finished dinner nd chilling a bit before getting back to it.

This week has been brutal at work.  So glad the weekend will be here soon.  But work is nice cause it keeps me super busy.

 

Have eaten well today and drinking lots of water.  I didn't sleep well last night so I'm dragging something fierce.  How convenient that going to bed at a decent time is one of my quests.  :)

 

Feeling very "fat girl" today.  I know I am fat every day, but some days it doesn't bug me, most days it bugs me a little, and some days it bugs me a lot.  Today is one of those "bugs me a lot" days.  I was watching an episode of Friends on Netflix and Monica (a character who was obese in her teens and is slim as an adult) was going through a box of old things. She pulled out a bathing suit that looks like it would fit me (or maybe be too small) and her friends proceeded to make jokes about how huge it was.   I just... it's stupid, it's really stupid that a dumb joke on a tv show got to me so much.  But that swimsuit?  I wear those suits.  I have the large size granny panties instead of the cute style ones.  The baggy jeans that don't fit properly because to find something that fits over my butt makes it not fit anywhere else.   I dread the camera but hate that I don't have more nice pictures of me with family and friends.  

 

I could continue the above paragraph for... well... more paragraphs.  But eh.   Pity party is nobody's friend I guess.

Hey, fellow Rebel. It sounds like you had a tough day yesterday. I hope today is better. I had a rough time yesterday, too, just feeling whiny and tired. Being over tired makes everything feel worse, it seems.

 

Yesterday I read the article on body image on the Nerd Fitness website: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/12/10/how-to-build-a-perfect-body-a-discussion-on-body-image/

Have you read it? It made me feel better, especially when looking at the pictures of dancers from the late 1800s. :)

 

I wish you extra rest and self-compassion today, as I pursue those things for myself today, as well.

So... it's been almost four months since I checked in.

 

I'd like to report all the progress I've made but the truth is that I didn't make any. In fact I gained back the few pounds I had lost.

 

I completely lost all motivation. I'm not even sure how or what triggered it.  I've been aware of needing to get back on track but I keep finding excuses and justifications.

 

Well, I got really sick, and had a scare with my heart.  That woke me up pretty fast.  That happened a few days ago.  So here I am, trying to find a way to get on track and stay on track.

My favorite flavoring for steak now is cilantro and lime juice, thanks to the amazing tacos at this little Mexican place in the podunk town my sister lives in.   So tonight I made sirloin steak with cilantro (from my garden!) and lime juice, and sliced up a fresh cucumber.   Omnomnomnomnomnom!

Did pretty well this weekend!  I have healthy meals planned and ingredients purchased for this week so I am on track.  Proud of myself for avoiding the soda and junk food at the grocery store!
