Sorry I never saw your last post, Wil.  *hugs*  and thanks for all the encouragement last year

 

 

I didn't really make any progress on 2015.  I know this is an excuse, but I let depression and a really bad breakup send the latter half of my year totally off course.

 

I'm going to make an effort to turn things around this year.  Instead of focusing on weight loss, I'm focusing on being kind to myself, and finding ways to be happy.

Feeling proud of myself today!  I made oatmeal with diced apples and cinnamon for breakfast.  I met family for lunch at Culver's and got a "snack pack" meal instead of the large value meal combo.  I made broiled sirloin steak and sliced cucumbers for dinner.  Been drinking lots of water.  And I got some errands done instead of staying in bed all day.  Life is good. :)

I did well today. :)  Had oatmeal with diced apples and cinnamon for breakfast.  Made some tuna salad wraps for lunch (without the wraps since they had gone bad... so really just a bowl of yummy tuna and avocado and lime and scallions om nom nom) and a big bowl of steamed veggies.  Had some baked chicken and steamed veggies for dinner.  Got a TON done around the house.  Read my book for a couple hours.  Definitely a good day!

Another good day.  I followed my challenge goals.   Now I'm rewarding myself with a bowl of oatmeal with diced pear and a few dried cranberries for dessert. OMNOMNOM!  Rewarding myself with a healthy dessert.  ^_^

I have done very well with my goals so far this week.

 

I have had zero soda after work every day.

I have read for at least 30 minutes every day.

I have had veggies at dinner every day.

I have worked out one time. I need to work out one more time this week to meet that goal.

 

I am struggling a bit tonight though.  I have had a very stressful day and my usual go-to is to bury it in food.  I really REALLY want to eat.  I want to eat a lot.

 

But, I am happy at the weight loss I have been seeing, and I don't want to undo all the good I have done. But man do I want to eat everything in the house. If not that, I want to drink until I pass out into a dreamless sleep.

 

Food is probably healthier than over eating. I'm trying to avoid doing either.  But it's all I can think about. I have TV on to try and distract myself.  Blah.

Decided to re-join the fitness center in town today.  I'm looking forward to the increased variety of ways I'll be able to exercise. :)

That decision to re-join that Fitness Center sounds like a great idea! I'm glad to see you pushing forward. You can do this  :triumphant:

Don't worry about it: I understand. I dropped off the face of NF for most of last year as well. But I got an urge a little while ago to try and reach out, and say hi again to the people I got to know here. I may not be "back-back," as in doing Challenges and whatnot, but I felt I could at least try and reconnect.

 

And I feel you on the depression thing; I've been struggling with it as well this past year. Just know, you're not alone. You can fight this, I can fight this – we all can fight this. In one way, or another, we can overcome. Let your "Will to Live" shine bright, for the future is yours to decide! You can do it – I believe in you  :pride:

 

(Oh! And "...focusing on being kind to myself, and finding ways to be happy." is definitely a good call. There's never a wrong time to live life – to do the things that you enjoy. And you don't need to be perfect before you can be kind to yourself. [And I think I'll try and do this as well, too: I'm not perfect – far from it – but it's high time I start trying to find out how to be more excepting of that, because I need to keep moving forward. We're always growing, always changing, and never quite perfect; but we keep improving, one step at a time. And in the end, that's all that matters  :rapture:])

Broke thru the 260's! Woot woot!!  :D

 

I have gaming this weekend (D&D one day, board games the next) and traditionally that is lots of snacks and booze.  We'll see if I can manage to cut it back a bit.  I'm also aware that having some drinks and chips once a month on gaming weekend won't kill me.

The meal went over great with my D&D group!  Today my brother and I took a nice walk to/from the grocery store, and made a huge pot of chicken soup while paying Magic!

I'm thinking a bit about goals I want to set for the Feb challenge.  I really like the goals I had this month and I kind of want to build on them. 

 

 

1. Current goal:  Eat a veggie with dinner daily - Change to: Eat a veggie with lunch & dinner daily

2. Current goal: No soda after work - Change to: keep as is, I'm not yet prepared to give up my cold caffeine at work

3. Current goal: Exercise 2x a week - Change to: exercise 3x a week

4. Current goal: Read 30 mins a day - Change to: 60 minutes of non-screen relaxation a day (can be reading, board games, card games, socializing, etc. just get away from tv/computer/phone screens)

 

What do you guys think?

My sister is also trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Thursdays are her weekly weigh in, and I feel bad because she's reported no loss now for 3 weeks. No gain, which is good!  But I know this is disheartening for her, so it makes me sad.  I also feel bad about reporting my progress, since I have seen a good loss, and I don't want to come off as bragging.

 

I'm surprised at how well this challenge has gone for me, and excited for the next one.

Haven't posted in here for a while!  With how quickly the challenges come together, I've been just posting in those threads.  But I will post it here even though I posted it there because it made me so happy/proud - for March, I lost 9.4lbs, meeting and exceeding my 8lb goal!  I realized if I keep up at the rate I've been going, I'll be down 50 lbs by the end of May.  That is a huge motivator to keep on keepin' on!  :D
