I love their steak fries. I might even upgrade them to the garlic steak fries...

TV husband is Josh Gates. Love him. He got married over the summer, though :(

Tracking for the day:

Calories: 1414 (in range)

Carbs: 187 (in range)

Fat: 47 (in range)

Protein: 70 (in range)

Fiber: 15 (under by 25)

I'm seeing a trend of not enough fiber...

No Pepsi today. But had my third chai for the week. Took my mug and put it in the dishwasher so it's not sitting at my desk tempting me to have some.

Moisturize: My skin had felt okay today after the body wash last night. Had to use some hand moisturizer, but that comes with the territory of winter, washing hands and dealing with paper all day.

Now I fast :(

I am not a happy camper right now. I seriously hate doctors.

My appointment was at 11:30 this morning. Walked in at 11:25, was told two people were ahead of me. I wasn't seen until 12:05.

Had my weight taken. Said I was down 8 pounds, don't believe it.

Doctor comes in and says "Great! Down 8 pounds!" I call BS. He's shocked. Tell him my scale at home and at the gym have been telling me for the past 3 months I've been at the same weight. And none of my clothes fit any better.

He goes on for another 10-15 minutes how I should change my diet. He's off the Atkins kick, so I actually listened and might take his advice this time.

We're planning my next appointment and I asked about the cholesterol and thyroid test. He goes "Oh, just have it done sometime before the next appointment." I don't think there is a gif for the look I gave.

Told him I was told to fast before this appointment and it was to be done today. He genuinely seemed sorry and had a nurse come in and take my blood. But still. Ugh!

Not happy.

Now I wait for the results (hopefully if my thyroid is not functioning right, he won't wait until our next appointment to tell me). And even though I just ate and gulped down my glass of water, I have a headache :(

Yea, I think I'm going to do that. I've been saying for almost a year now that I need a new doctor, but was holding out. Since I need to switch car insurance I might as well "find a new doctor" to that must-to-do list.

:( I'm sorry you don't seem to be getting anywhere, I had similar issues as you with the thyroid. I don't know how your medical system works over there but here our general practitioners can only take it so far and then we get referred to specialists. My doctor was actually fantastic, but as soon as I got escalated to the consultant endocrinologist, the process got much more difficult so I can empathise with the trouble you're having. I hope you get the outcome you want.

I have SUCH a hard time with doctors who are focused only on weight and not on lifestyle! I hope you can get some test results soon. I'm switching primary care docs too, the one I got a recommendation for is a runner, so I'm hoping he'll be a little bit more in touch with my lifestyle goals.

Thanks girls.

Deftona - it's like that over here, too. When my arm started flairing up, I was sent to a wrist specialist and then a nerve specialist. And I'm sure if my doctor hadn't effed up the paperwork at my last appointment I would have been sent to an endocrinologist. Which apparently can take 3 months to get an appointment with.

I actually got an email from my doctor today. Said thyroid was functioning fine, but that my cholesterol was elevated. Wants to check again in 6 months. I don't think he's asked about family history. I'm so totally switching.

As for the past couple days for my goals:

Thursday: tracked food (that bacon burger was sooooo good! bummed they no longer make garlic fries, the herb fries were fine, but the garlic was so much better). Moisturized with the body wash. And no pepsi or chai.

Friday: Just finished putting in all my food. In some ranges, under in some. Weird day for food for me. I think I was still full from the burger because I only ate half my lunch and dinner (at 9:30pm) was just an english muffin with peanut butter. My stomach was making sounds like I was hungry, but I didn't feel hungry. Only moisturizer I used was for my hands. Is spring here yet? And while no chai, I did have a rum and coke, and I'm pretty sure it was pepsi and not coke. But oh how I needed it. I'll just say that I ended up in a bar with my ex on what would have been our 1 year anniversary. Sucks sharing friends. But I was going to celebrate getting fully refunded for my China trip and having the refund fully pay for the new one.

Now, back to watching Doctor Who and crying over Rose and the Doctor being separated forever...(yes, I just finished season 2 of the current series).

I cried. Won't lie. Tears just streaming down my face.

And since my last post, 26 hours ago, I have watched all of the next season. I don't know what that says about me. I mean, I went out to a chiro appointment, did some clothes shopping, went to the pet store and bought cat food and even spent some time in the grocery store buying ingredients for tonight's dinner (a complete disaster, BTW. Had to order pizza) and a dip for the superbowl next weekend. And yet, I still managed to watch 14 1 hour long episodes in 26 hours, with about 8-10 hours worth of sleep in there.

Okay, on to actual challenge posts. Where did I leave off....

Saturday!

Tracked food - yes

No chai - yes

8 oz of Pepsi - yes

Moisturize - just the hands. No shower. Sat on my ass all day and watched Doctor Who

Sunday:

Tracked food - no. Had hit 5 days anway

No chai - yes

8oz of Pepsi - yes, as well as 8oz of Coke. This puts me over my 16oz for the weekend :(

Moisturize - yes

Week 2 Recap:

Track food 5x a week: A

Chai 2-3x a week: A

Pepsi 16oz over entire weekend: big fat F

Moisturize every other shower - A

So, all in all a pretty good week. Though, I think I may need to start moisturizing after my showers at the gym. I'll see how this week goes and then make a decision for the last two weeks.

I met with a personal trainer today. We went through a strength routine, and she built something around my pinched nerve and to help me build muscles in my back to help my posture at my desk (which in the end will help my nerve). The routine is something I feel comfortable doing and I really like her. She said she was going to start me easy and then we are going to work up to harder things as I get stronger. She doesn't want me so sore after my workouts that I can't move and don't like doing them. She did have me doing some of the free weights at 10 pounds, and at the time they felt fine. However, now my arm is starting to hurt, so I'm thinking I might drop them down to 5 pounds and when I see her next week tell her. It's one of those, at what point do I decide this is bad pain or good pain. I'll keep an eye on it for the rest of the day, but I'm leaning more towards bad pain.

I've had to start moisturizing my hands this winter! I don't normally but this year it's been nutty dry.

I'm glad you like your trainer - and she seems so reasonable!

Yea, normally my hands usually dry out in the winter, but this year it's even worse. I feel like I can't put enough moisturizer on them.

She was very reasonable, which is why I think she won't mind me dropping the weight and will completely understand. When I told her I had a pinched nerve in my neck her first question was "Where?" I told her towards the base, in the bottom 3 vertabrae. Her next question was how my acted up. I told her. And she was like "Yup, classic signs of (some technical term that I can't remember). Typical pinched nerve." Dude! My personal trainer probably could have diagnosed me better than my doctor and nerve doctor. Actually, she did, since neither one of them thought of that.

Monday recap:

Track Food - n/a. We had pizza for lunch at the office. I honestly don't want to know how many calories I ate. The chicken broccoli alfredo pizza is just so good (two slices).

Chai - did have a cup. However, it was at 4pm, instead of 9am. I'm slowly starting to win my fight (as I say that with a cup right next to me at this moment)

Pepsi - none for me

Moisturize - Since it was a gym shower, I did not.

However, my skin has spoken. I do need to moisturize after every shower. The body wash is not enough. So, at home showers I will stick with just the body wash. At gym showers I will bring my moisturizer (I'm still on my old brand, my gym stock hasn't run out yet).

My legs are still so sore. I think they may be more sore today than yesterday. And the pain in my arm turned out to be a good pain. Yes, it was annoying while at work, but once I got home it was fine. Still going to keep an eye on that today, just to be safe. After reworking my routine schedule, I'm not doing that routine until Saturday.

If you're finding your skin isn't getting enough moisture you can try the baby oil trick - do you know of it? Have a shower and then don't dry yourself and put baby oil on your wet skin instead. It is supposed to draw in more moisture and I do it once a week. I wouldn't recommend it for use at the gym because you stay oily for a while! I put a towel down on my bed and lie down while watching a tv programme or something until I'm dry. It does work though.

I didn't know of that. I'll have to get it a try once.

Back from being MIA again. This was what week 3? Here's my recap:

Track food 5x a week: A

Chai 2-3x: D-

I had it 3 times at work. Now, when I made this goal I was thinking of the k-cups that we have. I'm giving myself a D- because I did make myself a cup of chai latte yesterday afternoon. And I did debate. I justified it because I was having a really shitty day. And sometimes you just need to say fuck it, and I made myself a cup. And sorry for my language, but that's just the type of day I had. A little more about it in a second.

16oz of Pepsi for entire weekend: A

I only had 8oz yesterday. I didn't have lunch today (very late breakfast), so I had no temptation of having it. I could have had it with dinner, but I always have milk at dinner.

Moisturize: A

I have kept up with it. Yay for me!

I've come to the conclusion that I think I need to see a therapist. It snowed yesterday, inches wise, not much. But enough that I needed to shovel. My parents are away on vacation right now, and my dad refuses to teach me how to use the snowblower so I had to shovel. It started off fine, but then it switched to rain and the snow got really heavy. I was getting so frustrated while shoveling. I got about halfway up the driveway and just wanted to throw the shovel down and start to cry. I got about 70-80% of it done, then quit so I could shower and head off to my chiro appointment. As I was coming down the stairs I heard the snow plow come by. I looked out the window and saw that the end of my driveway was no longer clear. I broke. I just stood there crying like a fool. I stopped, put on my shoes and then got on the road. On the highway I started crying again and said out loud to myself "You can't keep the driveway clear. You are useless as a daughter and a person."

Yup. I know it's not true, but I still kind of feel that way. I also got really pissed because I went onto Facebook asking friends to come over and help me shovel. That it got to be too much for me to handle by myself. How many people responded and came to help? Zero. That did not help with my mental state. A family friend did come over to help after I called. But at that point it had rained enough and it was warm enough a lot of the snow had melted and I probably could have done it myself.

Anyway, after crying myself to sleep thinking that I'd be happier with no friends than the have ones who pretend they are, I decided I should probably go talk to someone and make sure I'm not actually clinically depressed. I should not have started crying over having to shovel heavy snow (which, BTW, broke the good shovel) and having the snow plow come by. Even right now, typing this has made my cry.

So, don't be surprised if I'm MIA again this week. I'm going to keep up with the challenge, I just may not post as much from here until the end.

I'm sending you lots of hugs, dear. I'm sorry we aren't neighbors! Not only is shoveling one of my secret skills but I might also tell off your other friends for not being there for you. Xoxo. I think a therapist is a great idea for everyone, because I think it's useful to have a professional listener that you can really unload on.

I hope you have a great week. You are an amazing friend and daughter. [emoji173]ï¸

Thanks! It is frustrating when you know you shouldn't be crying over something so trivial, but can't stop. I hope winter goes away soon, too! Never been a fan of it. I'd rather deal with 100+ degree weather than freezing cold and snow.
