rancher Posted January 3, 2015 Report Share Posted January 3, 2015 I used to picture myself as more of a scouty-rangery-assassin type, but that post was so far beyond epic I want to be an assassiny-scouty-ranger now!Living out in the sticks without a driving license there are no clubs, gyms or anything of that kind that I will ever frequent, so any and all training has to rely on my google-fu. I enjoy Royce Melborn from the Riyria Revalations series (Michael J. Sullivan) and Haern the Watcher from the Half-Orc/Shadowdance Series (David Dalglish). Honestly my real life 'assassins' would be military Snipers... bbonzo Posted January 4, 2015 Report Share Posted January 4, 2015 Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums/6 week challenges but I'm so excited to start this one! I've read the Nerd Fitness article for a year or so now and joined the Academy a couple months ago but this is all new to me and I love all the support on here! I'm a relatively new climber but I love that, and I'm starting to get into calisthenics and want to learn to do cool gymnastic type holds and balances too. I don't really have any favorite fictional assassins but am inspired by real and fictional characters that train hard to do what they need to do, whether that's batman training to save gotham, to soldiers training to do their job, or even mothers exercising so they can keep up with their kids running around, it's all inspirational and encouraging to me! I'm also really inspired by female boulderers that climb ridiculously hard problems, I'd love to be that strong someday! I am upset that I'm still getting exhausted on 1 circuit of the BBW routine... I may try to add a 2nd circuit whenever I get home from work so I don't feel so bad. I was hoping to get started with a head of steam but getting started means I have to keep going and so I am a little daunted... bbonzo Posted January 6, 2015 Report Share Posted January 6, 2015 Akuyo, I tend to always do too much too soon when I work out and since joining nerd fitness I've followed the small changes approach and it has really been something that makes me feel like this is something I can stick with for life. Doing just a little bit is better than doing nothing and if you do too much too soon you might burn out on it. Don't feel discouraged, you're doing great with being able to do 1 circuit of it! by the end of this 6 weeks I'll bet you'll easily be busting out three sets! Let your muscles recover instead of doing it again with poor form (which often happens when tired) and next time, try again! My main fitness inspiration is Captain America. While he's not an assassin per se, his movement, training and fighting styles are squarely in the assassin camp. Favorite fictional assassins? That's tough! Of course, I have to go with a female assassin. First one who came to mine is Sameen Shaw of Person of Interest. Not super tough, but I like her attitude. It's all about attitude. And what about Leeloo from Fifth Element? And then of course there's Trinity from Matrix! Now that's attitude! Oh what fun! BTW, when I try to use any of the tools on the toolbar - like to insert images or links or code it doesn't work. I have to do any code or insertions manually. With the toolbar, the pop-up locks up and I have to reload the page and re-write the post. It makes me sad.
