Cavemom is too fluffy

I have gotten way too fluffy, and not in a cute way.

GOALS

 

1. Get back in the habit of daily exercising

  • 10,000 steps every single day
  • Yoga every single day (even if it's just 5 minutes)

2. Start eating better

  • I will use emeals for meal planning for dinners; less eating out or ordering pizza
  • I will be smarter about snacks and drinking on the weekends, no more candy except dark chocolate
  • Drink a glass of water when I feel snacky during the day

3. Jump rope (I know this is also exercising, but it's more involved, so it's its own goal)

  • Week 1: 5 minutes per day
  • Week 2: traveling and will be walking a ton
  • Week 3: 8 minutes per day
  • Week 4: 10 minutes per day
  • Week 5: 12 minutes per day
  • Week 6: 15 minutes per day

I'm going to try to do the jump roping all at once, but might have to break it up into smaller chunks for the later weeks.

 

On the 10th of this month, we're going to Disneyland.  So all my goals will probably fall to the wayside for the second week of the challenge, except walking.

CAVEMOM!!! Hi there!  I like this challenge!  I do a lot of jump roping, and it's fun because it's like playtime AND exercise time!  Also, I bet you can keep on track in Disneyland!  For one thing it's nothing but walking, and hotel room yoga is a thing that you can do?  I'm exited to see what you get up to - subbed and subbed and subbed!

Also there is no shame in veering over to fluffiness once in a while - you've got all the tools you need, and plenty of grit!  We've all been there, and we're all gonna be climbing that hill right alongside you!

Great goals.  The big trip in the middle could make it harder to get back for week three, but you can do it.

As long as I do make it back here to NF, instead of just forgetting like I do most of the time, I think I'll be okay.

I've got a Striiv, which has been working great for the past year, but I've only been getting about 5,000 steps per day.  So I need to step it up.  Thanks for the well wishes!

On my REALLY lazy days, I'm lucky to get 3,000.  But yeah…on a normal day I average between 5,000-6,000.  We'll have to keep each other accountable!

Mostly I just walk around the house while I'm cleaning.  I'm just planning to do it more.

 

First day started off good.  I've already got my yoga in: 

 

My meal planning is going to have to change a bit from what I thought, because we cooked a huge ham yesterday, and I need to use up the leftovers before we leave for our trip this Saturday.

Day one went okay for me.  I got my 10,000 steps in, but it took quite a bit of effort in the evening.  Also did my yoga and jump roping.  I struggle with the yoga, even though I like doing it.  My house is just so cold, and when I roll out my yoga mat, it's like laying or sitting on a cold floor.  It doesn't make it very inviting. 

 

Eating was pretty good.  I drank more water than usual, and snacked less than usual.  I'm meal planning around leftovers right now, which counts for this challenge.

Great job doing so well on the first day. 

 

My house is just so cold, and when I roll out my yoga mat, it's like laying or sitting on a cold floor.  It doesn't make it very inviting.  

 

Maybe try a warm beach towel on top of the mat?

Maybe try a warm beach towel on top of the mat?

 

That would work for some poses, but would be slippery for others.  Today was quite a bit better, though.  I decided to do my jump roping just before yoga, which warmed me up quite nicely and got my muscles all nice and loose.  And I waited until a little later in the morning, so my house was a tad bit warmer.

Whenever I track, I am always surprised out how hard it is to consistently get 10,00 steps in a day. You are off to a great start though!

Hmm, I wish there was an easy way to make heated floors in your house.  Because how cool would that be?  Or your warming up technique- that sounds like it might be a little easier.

Day two was good, and today's going pretty well too.  I have been eating little bits of candy here and there.  I don't know why I'm doing it.  We have a candy jar with hard candy that my kids got at some birthday party.  I don't even really like hard candy.  I've got to stop it.

 

Walking today has gone much better than the first two days.  Those days I had to do some walking around the house before bed to get the last couple thousand steps.  But as of right now, I'm at about 9,300 and there's plenty of time left in the day.

Oh dear the candy jar dilemma.  Is there any way to get rid of it?  How long is it going to stay in the house?  I say that if you are going to snack on candy it had better be treats that you choose and enjoy!  

 

Congrats on the walking!  I'm guessing it's way too cold outside to go walking, but that could be a good way to mix things up!

I'm back.  I was on vacation, and just wanted to have a break from all electronics and that kind of thing while I was gone.  We had a great time, I got in a ton of walking. 20-30,000 steps on the days we were at Disneyland.  But we drove, so the days of travel weren't great.  There just wasn't opportunity.  My eating wasn't the best, I didn't get any yoga in.  So some good some bad.

 

The sad part is that my grandma died while I was there.  She was my last living grandparent, and I wasn't able to make it back for her funeral.  I've been feeling really sad lately, and am just not feeling any motivation for my challenge right now.
