rita lin Posted January 4, 2015 Report Share Posted January 4, 2015 Totally bailed on the last challenge...oops. Moved into my first home with my fiance, plus Christmas...so yeah. Anyway, I'm back on the wagon, so let's do this! So few things first - I am super close to passing my minimum skills in roller derby and being eligible for games. Goal: Pass my minimum skills! Last challenge my partner started taking me through some olympic lifting moves, and this challenge I'm wanting to build on that learning and increase the weight lifted. However, we're in the process of buying our own gym equipment and our gym memberships have lapsed, so it may be a little while because I can begin strength training again. Therefore this challenge is going to focus more on eating right and doing a little exercise every day as opposed to big lifts twice a week. Quests:1. Eat less processed food [WIS & CON] - basically eat fewer frozen pizzas and take aways. We're properly settled into our house now, it's time to start planning meals again. 2. Do yoga every day [sTR + DEX] - yeah so we started doing yoga together, and are currently doing Yoga with Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga. We've just done day 3, so we'll see how it goes! I'm hoping this will help with core strength and balance/flexibility which are all essential for skating 3. Go to every Wednesday practice [sTA + STR] - I'm only letting myself off once and thats the last week of the challenge because I'm in Leeds thats day on training & it's my dad's bday that day & my bday the day after xD. Gotta work on them skillz! So that's it...hopefully I can do that.Oh! It's hard because of the hypermobility and having to hold my ankles upright is tiring. But It's all good and it can only be good for me Skating on Wednesday! Yay! I didn't eat any processed food, and I managed to avoid the chocolate in the dispensary, but I have snacked lots! I had a protein shake and some dried fruit and then my lunch and then a banana and some more dried fruit and now I'm going to have a homemade curry for tea. But I've just been starving all day! Done very well though at planning meals, healthy stuff using all fresh ingredients. Lots of meat and veg and yummy things. Also still going with yoga, Day 5! My skates are so much heavier than I remember, and I'm achy all over, but it's all good Ate a lot better today too. Did not snack half as much as yesterday, think this was helped by the bigger lunch - I had a jacket potato with salad and chicken. Super hungry now though...must not give in to the cravings for chips! Hoping to make myself a yummy quinoa salad for lunch tomorrow...currently researching recipes Also, did day 6 yoga when I came home from practice, so nice to stretch and unwind after killing it for 2 hours! rita lin Posted January 10, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2015 So I got a new set of scales from work, they measure body fat etc. and are so cool! According to the my current boday fat is 33.6% which is just above healthy for my age etc. I'd like to get to about 24%...that'd be nice. Also got a fitbit which is so cute and amazing. I have it linked up to my fitness pal and I just love all the tables and things. I've pretty much cut out anything not made my me from my diet now. I have the occasional sweet or cake or something, but they're few and far between Also been walking a lot more since getting my fitbit, which is excellent! I'd been on a training day in Leeds and was just so tired by the time I got home I had just the energy for yoga and washing up before bed.I don't feel terribly guilty, my love of derby is waning, though my love of skating does not. I'm considering becoming a ref because I'm not sure I'll ever feel comfortable playing in a game, but we'll see More healthy lunches and dinners this week though we did get take away fish and chips last night. I've managed to lose 1 kg and 2% body fat so yay! rita lin Posted January 24, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 24, 2015 Ooops, haven't updated in a while. Well I went to the hospital the other day and they found an abnormality on my ECG which could explain why I have such low blood pressure, basically the electrical signals aren't passing through a part of my heart correctly, so I've been attached to an ambulatory ECG for a week. Also went to roller derby practice that night, got knocked down, landed on my arse and jarred my back. I've been in agony for 3 days but it's finally starting to get better. I've still been doing yoga every day, though we missed yesterday because we had people over playing D&D. I don't feel like I've been eating too well, and I'm feeling so bleh with my body, really want to do better and lose some weight..we'll see how we go.
