maigrey Posted January 5, 2015 Report Share Posted January 5, 2015 I originally wasn’t going to do a challenge this time, as I’ve struggled with internal peer pressure on these things. I’d been putting things in a battle log, which I update just as I go and a little less stressful for me. But then I saw starpuck’s challenge where she’s doing a weekly challenge and that is more up my alley. So, here I am, ready or not! I’ve selected a word for the year: Prioritize. I want to prioritize my emotional, physical, and mental well being. This may mean I’ll need to make difficult choices, but I’m up for that. So, I’ve made a list of tasks I wish to do for the year, the month, weekly, and daily. The daily builds into the weekly, which builds into the monthly, etc. I’ll save the excess commentary on each one and just list my tasks, which I will track this week. maigrey Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 6, 2015 Week 1 Day 1 update (Jan 5): [i've had this post up for about 5 hours, I better just finish typing] Monday was a pretty great day! I got almost all of my daily tasks in, knocked the mail sorting off the weekly list, and even got a Big Task done: filed my FSA claims for 2014. ALL THE MOBNEYS ARE MINE! Unfortunately, due to my back sprain, I skipped Oly class last night, so the likelyhood of me making 3 workouts this week is smaller than I'd like as I'm off to Asheville for my niece's birthday this weekend. But I can do workouts that aren't Oly workouts and I can see if my sister can get me a guest pass to her gym and work out with whatever's there... My treadmill desk got some work too, as I needed to get on it and knock out a few thousand steps. I love this thing, because walking on a treadmill is boring, and I can swing my monitors in front and do stuff (or read the forums) and the time just flies. maigrey Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Share Posted January 7, 2015 Week 1, Day 2 - Jan 6, 2015 I'm pretty sure I got hit with ego depletion yesterday. I was entirely unmotivated to do anything in the morning and basically forced myself to Get Shit Done. Also - I'm struggling to get the sitting solution items in - which is somewhat silly since it's 4 minutes ever 90 minutes-ish. Also my lack of motivation could be correlated to logging on to social things (and nerd fitness) earlier in the morning. I'm trying today to stay off all that stuff until I've at least completed my 'top 5' list. Which, yay, I've now done, and can now focus on the daily stuff I need to do. I also went to see my chiropractor and massage therapist, which is good timing as I tweaked my back on Friday lifting with the nerds. My back was way too tight for the chiropractor to do a whole lot with my thoracic region, but he did get my lower back to loosen a little. And then Jenna worked her magic (read beating the stuffin' out of me, and then applying suction to the really stuck parts) and things moved a little more. She did say "Oh, your shoulders are so much looser today, it's like you had a vacation, ha ha" It's amazing what 10 days of relaxing can do for your knots. I did manage to get a couple lingering things done, and felt good about that! And even though I wanted a nap, StarGazer made me go to oly class and that was a good thing. With powerlifting you can fudge it to a certain extent, but with oly lifts you have to have those skills on point or you just hit a wall. The first 3 hours included a 720 degree spin on 1-65 thanks to black ice, but by the grace of the holy spirit and I think some remembrance of how to deal with skids (maybe), a large shoulder and light traffic, the pups and I are safe and sound in double digit temperatures. Sometimes it is things like that which remind you how lucky you are.
