Due to popular demand, the Wild Hunt rides again!

The_Wild_Hunt__by_Mparker.jpg

Lightning flashes across a storm-ridden sky and you hear the call of a hunting horn as hounds bay for your blood. Terror grips you and you only have three choices: join, hide or die.

Joining the hunt means competing again the best warriors of all time: Odin, Herne the Hunter, King Arthur, and the Erlking, among others. Hiding means you can only hope the monsters won't find you and kill you anyway; or if you choose to flee as prey to somehow outpace the horses. And dying...well, that's not really an option now, is it?

If you choose to join, you are committing to working towards your challenges, whatever they may be, for the duration of the hunt (our 6 week challenge). Offering support to your fellow riders and being relentless towards your own goals. We will be dedicated and we will succeed or die trying!

So what will you do: join, hide or die?

I'm elinox and a huge Jim Butcher fan! My last challenge (and hunt) was inspired by his Codex Alera series. And if you haven't tried it but love the Dresden Files, I highly recommend it! In addition to his newest series, there is another new series in the works that has yet to be released, a Steampunk series called 'Cinder Spires'.

This is my 7th challenge and I'm focusing more on getting my body moving as opposed to just weight lifting. To do so, I intend to watch my junk food intake and to walk and do animal flow workouts in addition to moderate weight lifting. I'm in the Assassin's Guild because assassins have got to be in tune with how their body moves in order to move quickly and efficiently. And since joining the Wild Hunt means a warrior attitude, I'm all-in for speed, agility and endurance.

I'm artemisia and I've been a Butcherite (Butcher-er?) since I was a teenager. While I'm not creative enough to come up with a Dresden-themes challenge, I've always seen myself like Molly when it comes to fitness and healthy lifestyle changes. Molly is an apprentice who's already tasted the black magic (unhealthy choices), but wants & needs to change her lifestyle. But every time it gets difficult, the temptation to go back to the black becomes overwhelming.

This challenge I am focusing on keeping my progress from last challenge rolling, while adapting to a new environment. I've just moved to a new city and started a new job. I also want to try to push myself more when working out, instead of just doing what is within my range. So I am focusing on working out more, with increased weight training, finding a new martial arts club in the area, and reducing sodium in my diet.

I'm Erick the Red, and I am a Dresden junkie.

The building was on fire, and it wasn't my fault.  But I have to work every day to put it out.

I am trying to be more like Mouse.

He always knows who his friends are.  He knows who he can trust, and who needs to be watched.  He is fiercely loyal, and chews big chunks out of scary monsters.

Welcome back artemisia!

For a Molly-themed challenge (I enjoy making a theme for my challenges too!) what about something like 'Say No to the Dark Arts' where you fight against evil sodium? Or 'Molly's Kick Ass Quest' where you search for a new martial art studio? With your specific quests, you could theme each of them to the Dresden Files. ;)

Erick - you just made my night...you seem to do things like that a lot!  I love Mouse.

Elinox - I am apparently a bit addled this evening, can you send me a link to the spreadsheet?  I had too much fun here last time to not join again.

Right, introduction time...

I'm PositiveBlue.  Harry Dresdan is one of my favorite fiction characters.  I love the books and reread them frequently.

My challenge this time around has a lot of ramping up for me.  A lot of planning went into it and a lot of continual organization is required.  Oh no, I sound like the White Council Bureaucracy!  Then again I like Rashid.

Let's have all have some fun hunting.

Now that the hunt is back on, there's no way I could pass this up.

I'm the outsider of this particular hunt. I've yet to read any of the Dresden novels, but I loved the series and I enjoyed the War Cry graphic series that was an original story written for the comic book.

I was part of the hunt during my first challenge and wish to hear the horn sounding once more.

Another Dresden fan here.  In my house we name our cats after dogs and our dogs after cats.  So we currently have a cat named Mouse and are waiting for JUST the right dog so that we can name it Mister.  :D  If I had to pick, I'd probably be a Murphy.  Nothing flashy and spectacular, but what I do, I do well.

This will be my first challenge - trying to get my diet under control.  I exercise fairly regulary - I am in one karate class or another about 4 times a week.  However, I want to supplementthat with some strength training and endurance work.  I have a black belt test next year to prepare for.

Oh, heh.  Forgot to introduce myself - Heather.  Room for another?

Just added PositiveBlue, TwinBear, Seduisante and EthanKanke; welcome!

And it's not just you Blue, the forum doesn't have the spreadsheet up yet. When it does, I'll add everyone. I'm really excited for this hunt, we're going to be awesome!

Well, since I'm in I guess I'll post my introduction. As I said, I'm a huge dresden files fan, but then again I love just about anything urban fantasy. I'm 23, married to a beautiful woman, father to a beauty's 2 month old baby girl, and up till now I've been almost completely inactive.

This challenge, being my first, I'm taking the Dresden approach to getting fit: bodyweight training! Well, I guess the Dresden approach is actually being chased by various supernatural creatures who are trying to kill you, but I don't think I'm quite to that level yet. Either way, I'm excited! This IS gonna be a great hunt!

That's Jean Claude from Anita Blake...Slightly different series, especially the later books.

Thomas has black hair and pale skin too though. Apparently, it's a very popular vampire-look cliché!

From the Wiki entry: "Thomas has much the same overall appearance as Harry—both are tall, with long faces and strong jaws. However, Thomas' vampire heritage gives him a more ideal, beautiful appearance and gracefulness that humans can only dream of. He also has very pale skin, muscular body, and dark curling hair; Harry comments at one point that he looks like the "long lost Greek god of body cologne" and the "high priest of Bowflex."

Unlike the stereotypical vampire, Thomas tends to dress rather casually, although he prefers white as a base color scheme."

Riding with the hunt again! I'm so glad to hear that the spreadsheet isn't up yet because just spent five minutes looking for it.

I love the Dresden books, and they provide excellent motivation.  It doesn't matter what happens, Dresden keeps going. And if anything will make me run, hellhounds would!

Hey guys, the spreadsheet is available. I found it in the library.

I think that might be the old spreadsheet. Usually, a moderator pins the spreadsheet along with the accountabilibuddy directions at the top of the forum.

Nothing special to report.  Doing better with avoiding bad foods -- it does help that I have been drinking a lot right before my worst times, so I feel a little bloated and sloshy and not really feeling like a candy or whatever.

Food is going really well for me, too!  :)  I've slipped in a little too much sugar here and there (Sadly, I think it's a major culprit in my migraines), but I've kept the overall carb and calorie numbers where I want them.  So I'm happy.  I get my first real exercise challenge today.  Generally I go to karate several times a week and walk around my building at work a couple of times a day.  That's the norm.  But I want to add something else in so I've opted for the TMNT workout here on NF.  And I start tonight.  It will have to be late after the kids are in bed, which is prime sitting on my ass time.  My goal is to bring everything I need upstairs with me when I put the kids to bed and then use the guest room to do the workout in.  This way, I don't even make it downstairs to my usual sittin' spots.

I have found a new appetite suppressant of sorts.  I work in a fairly large building and have found that if I take 15-20 minutes twice a day I can get around three times.  That gives me about 3000 steps each time.  It also means that I walk past the cafeteria.  So I've started walking just before I have lunch.  The smell from the cafeteria is so off-putting that I find I'm just not quite so hungry when I sit down for lunch.  ;)  Seriously, it smells like old lady perm.  It's awful.
