The Swedish Ninja puts on his hard hat

Recommended Posts

Already half-time, yikes time flies!

It’s been a good week all things considered. The bad: I’ve been sick all week. Feeling better now, but no workouts, just some shorter walks but I will start with a short/easy workout tomorrow. My meditation/rehab suffered as well, and I haven’t been keeping track of it, I just know I’ve skipped it most days. But I’m actually totally okay with all this since I have eaten well all week, and that is my main goal!

For next week, Q1 and Q2 remains the same. I will modify Q3 somewhat: I will not track this, I will just try to do it anyway. In this instance I feel that tracking is contra productive since I sometimes focus more on the amount of time I “should†meditate, rehab etc, than actually focusing on the actual meditation… I will instead “grade†it in the end of the week.

Out of all the habits I want (posted above) I find that gratitude is the one that previously have had the greatest impact on my life and I want to make it a habit again. So for week four I shall try to do precisely this: be grateful!

Hope you all have a great fourth week J

Lost my hard hat yesterday evening and hopefully just found it again. Ate crap yesterday (and most of today). Why? No energy to explain it, but all I know is that it wasn't even good, I didn't enjoy it and I now feel like crap.

I really need this to just be a bump on my road to recovery, I haven't got the energy to go through another long period with crappy food and little exercise. At the moment, I have little motivation to continue down my "happy" road, but can't say I'm heading down the "bad" road either. Feels like I'm in a no mans land; I don't want to eat crappy food and actually haven't got any cravings for it at the moment (which I will have if I continue eating it though), but on the other hand I have no energy to do the things I want to do either (meditate, meet friends etc). Had plans to make big changes tomorrow (start meditating, quit TV, read books etc) but right now I just want to crawl up under my blanket and sleep.

Will report back in the week, but I WILL MAKE SURE that I only eat foods that makes me feel good. All other things is of minor importance at the moment.

Be well folks, hope you all have a great 5th week!

Decided after this weekend that it's time to implement the above mentioned changes I wanted to make.

Instead of doing the smart (?) thing of doing this gradually, I will implement everything at once in an EPIC 10 WEEK CHALLENGE!

The challenge:

Focus on the following 10 habits:

1. Healthy eating: Eating clean (no sugar, processed foods, too much etc). If eating with others OK with exceptions if deemed necessary

2. Daily routine: Qigong/mindful movements, meditation, write in journal

3. Exercise: Workouts at the gym, swiming, yoga, martial arts etc > 30 min

4. Frugality: Live as cheap as possible (but still organic foods etc). Amount exkludes rent/electricity/broadband and gym membership

5. Work-activity: Stand part of the workday, not sit more than 2 hours at a time, walk after lunch

6. Rehab/massage/balance: Use indoboard/balance board, triggerpoint, massage.

7. Learning: Mental arithmic, geography, memory, math, lumosity, reading, TED-talks etc

8. Explore: Try something (activity) you never done before (preferably with other people)

9. Mindfulness: Mindful moments (while brushing teeth, being outside, eating etc) # of times.

10. Excluding: No movies/series, no mirror (body image)

Every week will have one routine that I focus on/ is of extra importance. Every week will also have different goals in the different routines (getting harder/evolving each week).

As a bonus, I will have 10 (the magic number is 10 you see….) pass/fail activities:

1. Get rid of stuff (sofa, bike, part of wardrobe, etc)

2. Go on a date

3. Paint a picture to put on your wall

4. Take a dip/swim outside (no wetsuit)

5. Weekend without Phone/computer etc (Friday 8 PM-Sunday 11:59 PM)

6. Go to a club/bar and talk to new people

7. Do a Muscle-up

8.Donate blood

9. Memorize a deck of cards

10. Surprise/to be decided

Week 1:

Week 1´s focus area is Frugality. In other words, spend as little cash as possible.

Lets do this!

PS: Epicness is a guarantee

I love the new approach!  I hope it helps you get out of the motivation/energy rut and back on your happy path.  :)

I wonder how much of the low energy levels are due to winter weather.  I'm having some of the same issues, where I'm fundamentally an outdoorsy person, and I just HATE being cooped up inside all of the time.

Thanks!

Yes, I recon winter (cold and dark) is a explanation for low energy levels. And when the energy levels are low, what do we do? Go outside! Or eat sugary stuff…...

What a beautiful breakdown!  You got this!   :)

Thanks!! :)

The 10 week challenge felt so right yesterday, but today has been hard. A headache cause from sugar withdrawal and awful sugar cravings. Just want to F**k this challenge and go eat candy whilst watching a movie. I'm actually twitching and my mind screams "GO TO THE STORE! BUY CANDY! START ANEW TOMORROW!"

Screw you mind, I'm going out for a walk with some Hill HIIT-sprints. :onthego:

Week 5 sum up:

In one sentence: 4 days great, weekend kind of crappy, but psyched for the last week.

Have somewhat revised my challenge. Firstly, I will not set up goals every week, rather I will grade each habit from 0-4 (0: Horrible 1: Bad, 2: Could be better, 3: Acceptable/good, 4:Great). I will the post a total score (0-40)

I have also included a two new habits (kindness/generosity etc and positivity/attitude) and deleted one (Excluding) and revised the exercise habit to include activity at work.

Week 1:

1. Healthy eating: Clean eating 4 days, bad the other 3. Score: 1

2. Daily routine: OK the first 4 days, then fail.: Score 1

3. Exercise/daily activity: Have exercised every day and been active at work. Score 4

4. Frugality: Great! Have only spent about 15 $. Score 4

5. Kindness/generosity: A new habit, so not a focus. But I baby-sat my nieces and been helpful at work. Score 2

6. Rehab/massage/balance: Good the first 4 days, then worse, but not all that bad. Score 3

7. Learning: Up and down over the week, pretty good. Score 3

8. Explore: Tried Yoga at my gym for the first time! Score 3

9. Mindfulness: Pretty mindful (especially the first 4 days) then not so much. Score 2

10. Positivity/attitude: A new habit, so not a focus. Trying to stay positive though. Score 2

Overall score: 25. As you can see, when my food gets bad, many other habits suffers as a result. But it's time to get back to greatness (I was away for the weekend which is one explanation (but no excuse) for the "failure".

This is it, lets kick week 6:s ASS!!!

Your goals and grading system are really nice, and you seem to do well :). How did you like the yoga?

The Yoga was nice and I think I will begin to do it regularly again (did that several years ago). It's nice just to focus on body control and not trying to get as deep/low etc as possible. Just being aware of the body in different positions.

Also feels like I'm back on track after this weekends slip up(s).
