peelout
Hey everyone,I joined the Recruits about a week ago. I was wondering if I need to stay there until there 6 wk challenge is over, or if I can just come log here. The Recruits seem to have a new post every 2min, but the Rangers are where I belong. I've been at this for over a year so I'm not new to fitness training. I'm into weight training, whitewater kayaking, and indoor/rock climing. I much prefer the size of the Rangers team and the number of posts I see that actually have something to do with working out and less to do with poetry writings, videos, and topics unrelated to fitness (not that I have anything against that, I just like to see more on training). The focus on this team seems to be the best of the teams I've looked at with regards to actual workouts. Anyway, Can I start a thread here or should I just hang out in the Recruits till I put in my time there and then join the Rangers? Even if I'm not officially in the challenge since I haven't put in my time yet, I'd rather just post here. Rangers Rule!Peel 1 Quote Current Challenge We are what we repeatedly do. Rurik Harrgath
I've rediscovered Mark's Daily Apple after a long hiatus, and even though my copy of Primal Blueprint is long-missing after a loan to an associate, it has reignited my passion for 'play.' alienjenn, your snippet there "there were alot of workshops about movement and lifting and nutrition and cooking and games and being outside and bonfires and water..." basically reminded me of all the things I love in life, and that I need to reintroduce more playful activities into my day to day life. Noname123
Ok Rangers. I incorporated yoga to help loosen my silly hips because spin and lifting are my fitness loves and the more of that I do the more I realize I have no flexibility in that area. Other than yoga any other recommendations on helping someone open their hips (esp during squats, which is the primary reason I'm asking!) Also. This spring thing I keep hearing about, I'll believe it when I see it- I'm pretty much done with the snow mixed in with 30 degree temperature swings though! 1 Quote Spaz Ranger BATTLE LOG You can have results or excuses. Toshimi
Foam rolling might help. It's helped a lot with my IT band and hamstrings, which makes my hips feel better. Pigeon stretch (from yoga) and I've seen some of the coaches at my box lay on the ground with their feet on the wall ... in a V... like this... Another good one... in the squat position, use your elbows to press your knees out another of my favorites.... if you can't get your chest up, just lay on the floor. Feet together, knees apart to make a diamond. Those will help mostly with the front of the hip... This is a great stretch too 4 Quote Try not, do or do not- Yoda Link to post
Rurik Harrgath
I have similar issues but only with my right hip. Leftie seems to keep up just fine but after sustained squat work my right hip starts to develop some strain. One stretch I use, in addition to those mentioned above, is wrapping a thick athletic elastic behind me and then looping both ends around either knee to pull my legs apart. Do this in either a squat position or on your back with your feet against the wall as if you were squatting off the wall. Then you can squirm around and pull this way and that to optimize your stretching wherever you need the focus. I couldn't find any pictures but I hope you get the idea! 1 Quote [ Level ?? ] Rurik the Windblade, the Blade Who Dances, Warhawk of the Steppes.
