The Assassins' Den (chat)

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I changed my display name (previously known as Lightning Bug). In the last challenge I took on too much, got overwhelmed, and dropped out. :( The house remodel is nearly complete - there'll be continuing work for a few weeks, but nothing close to the intensity of the past month. And I'm pretty sure we ended up at or under budget (woohoo). I maintained my weight, but totally fell off the wagon on exercise. This week I have jury duty but I'm hoping that will be over by the time the challenge starts. I'm excited to get back to it - and back to hearing all about your challenges as well.

What are hedgehog rolls?

here they are, from 1min41 on:

It's best to do them on soft ground, like she does on the grass, for indoors you could cushion with a blanket or large cushion as for most of us our vertebra wound round so smoothly anymore as we did as kids ;)

Hmmmmmmmm I haven't figured out the best way to compile, but....

You can upload to YT semi-anonymous where only someone who has the link can view.

You can also upload to Google Drive and share with only select people......... I think.

Google drive is a good way of doing it, definitely! Dropbox links also. :)

Thank you!! That's what I did and here it is, yay:

Would be more impressive if our ceiling were a little higher, but then I am so happy to have a room this nice to train at all! So won't complain (too much) Also I see things to be done neater/cleaner/etc... but maybe you won't and I don't want to belittle myself here either ;)

It's a mix of things I learned over the last 20 months. When I started I couldn't even climb up at all, so I am really proud of what all I can do by now. And then to imagine what is still to come.....

I'm currently helping a friend with a full house remodel most weekends.  That counts as my workout for the day, and I have to shift my rest days to during the week.  Just because you aren't doing an organized workout time, doesn't mean you aren't working out.

So I finished the first challenge.  I have discovered something about myself.

I have no idea what kind of exercise I LIKE to do.

I hate calisthenics because I think of gym class.  I tried the bodyweight exercises this challenge, and I don't like them even when it's game or character related.

Suggestions of exercises that still fall in this guild's categories?  I'm thinking maybe kettlebells.

Try everything! If you sweat, it counts! ;) Seriously.

Also, may I interest you in a sledgehammer?

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW.

Sledgehammer is a possibility, actually.  No idea what I'd hit it on, but it's a possibility.  I'd totally try that.  How do you get into that?  **NEVER MIND SAW THE LINK.

That's the thing, guys, I'll try almost anything once.  (Fear of heights, so no trapeze.  Even though it's awesome.)

The guest bathroom is still on my list for summer or fall - I knew it would be brutal so I'm not even starting in there until everything else is done. The only thing we contracted out was new laminate for the countertops - the rest I'm doing myself.

AGREED! I'm sure I work more different muscle groups and work them harder when I'm doing stuff around the farm than when I'm doing "formal workouts", except for cardio. I don't keep my heart rate up long enough - even when I build the new fence this summer I don't think I'll keep a sustained raised heart rate, so the elliptical is key for that part!

This is so true. Things like working in your yard to get all the winter mess cleaned up, pruning bushes and trees, mowing, raking, edging, gardening - these all qualify as exercise because you have to burn calories to do them. Try using a hoe for 30 minutes to break up ground for planting. You'll feel it the next day, trust me!

Hi! I just wanted to pop in and say hello to you :)

I set my heart into this guild as I love to be able to do any sort of tricks with my body: pulling it, pushing it, turning it upside down, twisting it, climbing it, jumping it (ok the last ones not soo grammatically correct, but you get the gist) and making it run all about without being tired.

I just completed my first 6-week challenge, and was thinking about adding some handstands for the next. The problem is that I sorta tried it, but my shoulders really ache, as something got pinched. Same thing has been happening sometimes when running. It's not debilitating but it bugs me. Is my shoulder just poorly assembled? Or there is something i can do, like stretching it and acquiring  flexibility?
