lucky fire dragon levels up her dance

Recommended Posts

Umm, what's a reading competition...? It's awesome that he won, but why does such a thing exist?

I don't know what you'd call it in English, probably a different name. Each kids presents a book of their choice (children's or teenage fiction), tells a little bit about it and then reads out a section for about 3 minutes. Afterwards they were given an unknown text to read out loud as well. The kid with the best presentation and reading wins a book. At this level all the children who came got a book reward just for participating and the winning girl got two different books.

It was really interesting to see which books they picked, there was "Diary of a wimpy kid", and of course "Harry Potter" and "Warrior Cats" but also "Bartimaeus" and "Hunger Games" (omg she read out the part where little Rue dies!!) and then some cool, funny, exciting books I had never heard of before.

The funny thing is, my boy HATES reading :D He hardly ever reads, all of our family loves reading except him. And then he goes and wins the reading competition of his school...

Forgot to mention that yesterday he did not win. He didn't expect to either and was totally fine, there were so many brilliant readers there!!

YAY, so excited to hear how you like it. It'll make you strrrrrrrrrrrrong :)

Unfortunately, the pole classes don't work with my school schedule. :( However....I did find a place to start taking flexibility and intro to aerial classes!!! I've been wanting to start doing aerial stuff for SOOOOOOOO long! I probably wouldn't have even started looking in to the classes for a few months if I hadn't been looking for a pole class (thanks to you)!! I'm planning to take my first classes on Sunday!!

Coal fires for pocket money?? Were you the first one up to get the house warm for the others? Fate of kids with healthy sleep rhythms, haha, good for you to earn some money by it!

You know what this now reminded me of? When my big brother taught me how to make a fire when we were kids, just my parents didn't know as they were not home at the time and we did such a splendid job on it that when my parents came home the could see the sparks flying out the chimney, we had build a fire so strong :D

Nostalgia indeed *happy sighs*

Right, I have to say I imagined something very different. I thought competing in reading sounded really dry and like something that'd just suck all the joy out of reading. This doesn't sound too bad. :) We don't really have this kind of competition here, Sweden being a socialist country and all. ;)

All right, so today I remedied the sad lack of workouts from yesterday and here is the recap of

Week 1 - Day 2

did I have a full day again, today, yes I did. Did it have room for all my quests, yes it did :) How many of my quests did I rock today?

tumblr_lraso8OpIj1qcqugio4_250.gif

Woot, so thrilled

Level up my dance

Did my yoga first thing this morning as I got out of bed, starting with some yummy cat cow and then downdogs with bending the legs alternately for waking up gently. Then some warriors and headstand training - have to keep redoing that thing with both legs tucked in, it is so exciting!! My control going in is still lacking, it works best when I walk as far as possible in and then lift one foot after the other, but still  :rapture:

Trained over an hour on the pole and tried to figure out where I am as I am thinking maybe pole move before and after pics?? Will sift through the recordings just now and see. My new pole classes will start next week and then I will know for sure what to work on over these next weeks - sooooooooooo excited!!!

Bonus: tried the conditioning exercises of the pole ninja dude I shared on Priscillia's thread and learnt: push-ups on the pole are so much harder than normal ones?!  :hororr: The pull ups went surprisingly well, not full ones, but a good intermediate version. So that was new things :)

Level up my strength

dumbbell workout will only be happening on Friday and Sunday again together with my hubby (who has no time before then as he is working super hard right now and earning us great money  :love_heart: )

Did the HIIT rope skipping as part of the pole warm-up and can now do easily 3 sets of 1min fast hopping (well fast in my case being between 100 and 120 skips per minute) progress  :triumphant:

Bonus: added the foam rolling after the workout. When I roll the quads on my sides it does still hurt nastily, but the lower back which hurt the first time so much I couldn't do it lying down and had to do it against the wall rather, is now totally fine. LIKE it

Level up my balance

Email ninja? YES

2,5 liters of water? YES

Bonus? No, but who cares  :triumphant:

Level up my joy

yummmmmmmy meditation after my yoga this morning, wow I didn't even want to get up any more! First my mind was still on busybeegear going all "Yeah, okay, this feels nice, so that means we're done right?! Off to the next thing...." hahaha, that monkey is sometimes a little overboard. I whistled it back and settled into relaxation and joy properly and it was soooooooo good.

Makes my whole day more shiny.

This might not normally fall under the creative and fun category for me, but today I felt like tackling the defrosting of the freeze drawer of our fridge and had actually truly fun chipping off the ice plates (it's been a while since the last defrost). There is something oddly satisfying about a whole big peace coming off in one whack. Now the whole draw is shining clean and there is so much space again, yay. Cleaned the whole fridge too while I was at it. That part was not fun, but necessary and I am happy every time I open it now. One of the things normally procrastinated

Bonus: ah, this was totally unexpected fun part, my eldest daughter (16) joined me for my workout!! Not on the pole lol she does ballet and we fixed her a training bar in the same room in the basement in which I train on the pole. Seeing that I had heated the room already she spontaneously decided to train, too. Super precious time and fun, yay

So now I'll be off looking for some pole move before pics to spice this challenge up a little more

I am learning to love a good morning yoga/meditation combo... it really puts me in a good groove for the day and I'm much more energized and happy!!  JOY! :D

Hooray on defrosting/cleaning!  I really hate fridge duty but once everything is shiny I'm in such a better mood. :)

Look forward to the pole pics!

Yes, that's what I feel, too - also chill out sessions in the evening are real nice too and make my bed just that little bit extra cuddly for the cosiest, peaceful sleep.

Normally I procrastinate the fridge as long as anyhow possible and the freeze was thick with ice already. Today it just hit me out of nowhere, this sense of

and wham it was done :)

There you go! They might pick up more as you go, if not it will still be something they take along - workouts being normal and good for you :)

As long as they don't go like my youngest did when I started out working at home about 18 months ago on the pole "Mommy, I have to say, sport does not look good on you. Maybe you shouldn't do it."

Great motivational coach, huh?  :playful:

The nice part about it is that now she actually compliments me and that feels extra good, knowing she always speaks her mind without any hesitation about it maybe being rude

What a fantastic start! :D

How exactly does one do pole push-ups? That sounds both awesome and terrifying!

If you're up for entertainment watch the whole thing, otherwise, pole push-ups start at about 1 minute in. Enjoy the (wo)man of steel ;)

Challenge Spice Up

Here are some present stages in my pole moves that I would like to improve on. No idea if we will train any or all of these in my coming classes, but I am assuming whatever we train might help them anyway :)

Feb Neg headstand training

EDIT: April version

april Neg headstand training

This is me training towards a deadlift headstand in which can pull up the legs without kicking off from the sides. Currently I can walk in or slide in with legs in the middle and then lift one after the other without having to kick off anymore (woot). Now I'd like to take it up a notch. Am training in negatives right now, meaning I go in as normal and then split the legs to the sides lowering them down as far as I can without crashing onto the floor. Go up again and down as far as possible. It feels super far and looking at the pic they are quite low, which is encouraging. I figure, if I can lower them below knee height and still hold that controlled I should manage to get them up from the floor as well...

Feb headstand

EDIT: April version

april headstand

splitting the legs this way doesn't even deserve to be called a split  :playful:  def want to improve this, too

Feb fireman climb

Feb fireman climb 2

Here's a move that would actually need a video: I climb with one leg on the pole and then use the outstretched leg for momentum to spin around before going up. Currently I can spin half to 3/4 of a full round. Would like to get that to full round at least, hopefully more

EDIT: April version no pics but happy to report I managed the full round several times today, woot

Feb Leg Up For inversion

April version, both sides and I can do them 3x3 on each side in one go now, yay!!

april knee tuck

april knee tuck

This is me pulling the tucked legs up without momentum, would like to get them higher because of the following move it's for:

Feb inverted V attempt

Feb inverted V attempt right

April versions:

april inverted V

april inverted V A

inverted v attempts that I discovered during the last challenge thanks to Priscillia and am fascinated with since. Legs should be at same level horizontally and butt should be higher still, let's see if I can demonstrate on the after pics, wouldn't that be soooooooo cool!!

Last one:

Feb cocoon attempt

April version, note that I have let go of the hand on the bar now  :playful:

april cocoon attempt

This is meant to look like this
00068-drama-queen-thumbnail-ba747274fe8a

and I just don't dare yet  :nevreness:  will ask my teacher for hints

April edit:didn't need to ask, we did this in our choreo and that helped:

april forward fold

Plus I want to add this one here again, just because it's so cool:

april cross knee hangback
