Because I'll be on vacation the last 2 weeks of this challenge, I intend to FULLY ENJOY MYSELF and do NO REPORTING! :)

However, I am on a roll and would like to continue to track my progress until I'm forced to indulge myself with 2 weeks of decadence. 

 

I really kicked butt last challenge, so I'd like to continue with the things that work best for me, the idea being that I will reinforce long-term good habits.

 

 

Main Quest: Return to my "Work at Home" level of fitness

 

My weight-loss target is 65 pounds. I'll continue to track pounds as the progress indicator, but will also track the Navy BMI rating (neck, waist, hips) and overall inches for consistency. Starting out pokey at 179 post-flu.

 

 

Fitness Challenge #6: Do Nerd Fitness half-sets routinely 

 

My knee is FINALLY feeling better! I'm going to continue my successful routine, which is: 

- break my NF bodyweight workout into 2 complimentary half sets

- do at least 1 rep of the half-set exercises every day without fail

- I'm doubling the reps for an "A" grade because 10 is too easy 

- continue Healing Yoga, at least 1 stretch daily

 

 

Health Challenge #6: Put Money at Stake for Exceeding Calories

 

I found the health wager system really motivating! 

- I must eat <=1800 calories per day or I give $5 to the "other" political party for each failed day

- If I eat <=1300 calories in a day, I "emphatically pass" and get to earn back $5

- At the end of the challenge, I'll total up the days passed/failed and write a check!

 

 

Life Quest Challenge #6: Write 4+ hours a week 

 

I blew the doors off my 2 hours a week minimum last time, so I'm doubling the ante. I have a writer's conference coming up and I really need to finish my trilogy to get it ready to pitch. 

 

 

Scoring: Award or decrement accordingly. This doesn't total 15 because I won't be going the full 6 weeks. 

 

G1: A=lose 8+ pounds, B=6-7, C=4-5, else fail -----> CHA +2

G2: A=20+ reps per workout, B=10-19, C=1-9, else fail -----> STR +1, DEX +1, STA +1

G3: A=24-28 days success, B=18-23, C=12-17, else fail -----> CON +2

G4: A=6/6 success, B=5/6, C=4/6, else fail -----> WIS +2

Hah, I love #6! Not only money out of your pocket, but to the opposing political party! Will you use their dbaggery of the moment as motivation? "This is horrible! I can't support the idiots that said that!" and step away from the omnoms? Fantastic! I might have to use it some time.

Okay, Week 1 was pretty lame. I still wasn't feeling hale from after my flu, so gravitated toward lots of soups and rice dishes. 5 fails for the week. Alas, oh well. I got my minimum NF in, except for Saturday when Mr. Spock left us, and all other thoughts went out the window. I'm going to try to keep my health for the upcoming week; I do have some threatening sniffles. Alas!

Writing a little behind with 3.5 hours.

People at Tai Chi class tonight finally started commenting on my weight loss. Everyone wanted to know what I was doing, so I told them about the paleo diet. It feels good to have people notice. :)

Food mostly on track, but I celebrated bigtime for my birthday. My knee felt a little stressed after a long bike ride, but it's really mostly 100% back. Writing still behind at 1.5 hours. I'm going to cut my daily commitment to 15 minutes, and see if that jump starts me.

Belatedly checking in for my 4-weeks of the 6-week challenge. 

 

I did moderately poorly this challenge. I was preoccupied with all the travel and planning I had to do, and being run ragged by errands. Now that I'm on vacation, I'm feeling much better. :)

 

So food was on average okay, but no real commitment to consistently healthy eating patterns. Ditto the Nerd Fitness; I did the fairly minimal level that I could to keep in the game. Writing was TERRIBLE; just didn't have mindshare for it. 

 

I'll go back and total up at some future point, but this was a pretty lame challenge for me. On the plus side, it at least got me to maintain better than I probably would have otherwise, given my not great responses to stress. C'est la vie. Next challenge, I expect to kill. Cheers!

Scoring: Pretty bad! That's what I get with a preoccupied, 2/3rd commitment. Next challenge I must do better.
