OMG I AM SORE! So so so so so so sore! Had a great day yesterday (exercise and attitude wise) got up took the pup for a walk, worked 745 to 1230, hit the gym to lift, then went to Portland with the wifey and bounced in trampolines for an hour. I mean big ones with curving of the wall and fosm pits to jump into and slam ball and slack lines. Then walked around the mall, got dinner and headed home. Good date day which I needed

WOW today has been a whirlwind. Bad news first

1)got in late last night so did not get a full nights sleep

2)pup was a raging dink nugget this morning, like to the point of I was using the bathroom and he bit me on the ass WHILE I was using the bathroom (almost made myself a fur hat right then)

3) Went to the gym this am and did the wrong week workout. I did my deload week weights instead of my regular working weights.

4) today has been steady/dead/steady/dead at work (I would rather be completely dead or steady all day. One or the other

 

OKAY now that the narstiness is out of the way time for the good stuff

  1. Getting together with the friend that is possibly buying the gym (NE) next Tuesday for dinner, hanging out and watching GoT Season 1 (her and her husband havn't seen any of it so it will be fun)
  2. My assistant manager's son needs to drop 50-100lbs in order to play football this fall and my assistant manager asked for my help with his weight training. She is also putting the entire household on Paleo for the next 3 weeks.
  3. I got to the gym during my lunch break and was able to do the correct weights and correct number of reps so my chest is toasted now.
  4. Sunday is supposed to be okay, possibly light snow (UGH) however the pup and I are going to be going for his first hike ever! I will be sure to take pictures and show everyone his antics.

Update on Ggrandma, she is speaking in complete sentences (which don't make sense) which is an improvement over earlier today. She had a stroke but there isn't really any slurring of her words. She is very confused and scared because of no knowing why she is left alone. I'm spending the night at the hospital with her so my aunt (her daughter) can go home and get some rest. Work knows that I may not be in tomorrow.

Gotta say as much as I get frustrated by my job they are awesome about family shit. Tonight when my assistant manager found out about my great grandmother, my AMs response was "and why the fuck are you still here? Cash up and go there." Tidy was better at work. I think it was because my supervisor was not there and she is the source of a lot of the negativity.

I think I just had a revelation everyone says the basic is almost more of a mental game then physical so the whole point of basic is to mentally break you down and test you to see if you can make it and handle the stresses I think life is been trying to prepare me for that but throwing all of the shit if I don't break from this then I won't break at basic. Having that line of thought makes me feel better almost I'm not sure why but it just makes me feel less stressed as stupid as that sounds maybe it's because I feel like all of this is actually going somewhere or building up to something not just random events and there's nothing I can do I don't know we will see

Just got a call this am that the doctors believe my great grandmother is going to make a full recovery! and the stress slides off my shoulders (atleast some of it) hitting the gym after work today (1230ish) and then grabbing the pup, running errands, picking up pizza, and doing some D&D with the friends as long as the wife feels up to it! BAM going to be a good day

Wow PW.   Catching up from the weekend and I don't know where to start or what to say.    Sounds like you've had a major plateful, but I am glad that you got good news on grams, and that you were able to take all the stress and focus it a mindset that put you into 'grr I am gonna train mentally to kick basic's ass' mode.

 

Good work on the plans too.

 

And I wanted to say thanks for the text this weekend.   It was all out of nowhere, and apparently in the midst of your own craziness, you took the time to send me some encouragement.    It was awesome.

Hey! Sorry, just catching up now.

 

That is some scary stuff right there. I'm glad to hear your job is being cool with you going to see your great grandma. I couldn't even get the day off for the last funeral I went to, so that's definitely awesome.

 

Also, you get to be That Guy! You're the knowledgeable one who gets to help people get the results that they want. That is cool, man.

 

There is power in your perspective on basic, too. There is relief in seeing suffering as having meaning or mattering. This is very good, and though it won't be easy to keep or remember all the time, it is worthy to do so.

 

Glad it's all rolled off. Good. Now you can resume the great struggle. :)

Today is going to be a good day, none of my alarms went off this am, I scrambled to get ready for work within 20 minutes, I work a half day then get to fight with insurance companies over a rental THEN get to go to talk to the Air Force recruiter and who knows what after that...but today is going to be a good day. I can feel it

Yeesh.  I'm also terribly behind, sorry.

 

You've had a rough few days, but it's good that as shitty as your job is they understand people.  That's good.  Glad your grandmother looks like she will make a full recovery!  Also it's awesome that your family took some shifts to stay with her. 

 

Also, just out of curiosity...

Does she think Paleo will magically drop him that weight in 3 weeks?  You did emphasize it takes time to lose that much weight, right? >.<

 

(Also steer her to Mark's Daily Apple and Nom Nom Paleo for food ideas.  Lots of people seem to get freaked out about what a "Paleo Meal" is, without realizing it's stuff we all eat normally anyway.  Hell, I had a friend tell my girlfriend he didn't know how to invite me to dinner any more because I have so many "restrictions" and he doesn't know what I eat.  She laughed.  A lot.  After she explained how my diet works - like I'm more lax during social things usually - and odds are I'll eat anything.  Then she laughed a lot to me recounting it.)

It was a good day overall. got a call from the insurance company and I got 3K MORE than I thought I was going to for my Jeep, met with the AF Recruiter and got some good answers. I am going to be going for either Services (managing Restraint/Hotel/Gym) or Materials acquisition (warehouse management) not cyber policing, looking in the long run I think I would enjoy those two more and they would let me do more when I get out.

Okay I can say with 100% certainty that 5/3/1 works to increase your strength QUICK! I am on week 3 of my 5/3/1 and today was Press day. My 1RM at the beginning was 105lbs. I screwed up my math bad today. I calculated the bar at 25lbs instead of 45lbs so all of my lifts (for the press) were 20lbs HEAVIER than they were supposed to be. My 1rep lift (90% of my 1RM) was supposed to be 100lbs; it was 120lbs. THAT’S 15LBS HEAVIER THAN MY ORIGINAL 1 REP MAX!!!!!!!!!!

BOOYAAAAAA!!!!

After wards I realized that and did the correct weight for the accessory lifts, I added in 2 accessory lifts as well. I did close grip bench, pull downs (in place of chin ups cause I can't do one yet) and straight bar curl. I added in an Iron Curl Marathon which is a pyramid lift it looked like 45lbsX1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 (it is supposed to be done with a partner and after your reps you had off to the partner, I just set the bar back onto the rack for the time a partner would have the bar) Then shrugs came in 1 set of 135 for 8 and 1 set of 185 for 6.

My shoulders and biceps and upper back are going to be TOASTED tomorrow. GOD I love being back in the gym and making GAINZ!

 

In other news, met with the recruiter on Monday, and as I said before I am going to be going into either Services (Hotel/restaurant / Gym management) or Materials Acquisition (Warehouse Management). I found out that no matter what I go in for, the Air Force automatically puts me on the track to get a degree in that field, I may have to take a few extra classes but I will end with at least an associates in that field. (Probably business management for either of those) I can also go to the Community College of the Air Force, because I am automatically enrolled. Also while in the CCAF I can get as many associate degrees as I can manage, AND the Air Force will foot the bill for me to get as many Bachelor degrees as I can. Anything over a Bachelor I will need to pay for BUT I can dip into my GI Bill and have that pay for it.

You know, the AF gets a lot of flack for fielding the weakest servicemen on a physical level, but to hear you tell it, I don't think I've ever heard of any other branch offering as much educational opportunity as they do. Very interesting. And as my dad was AF, that gives me something to fire back at people about. :)

 120 I got up for 2. Could have gotten a third maybe but I didn't want to try for it and drop it on my head. I am using both. I calculated my deadlift and Bench but used my actual OHP.

I want to be the guy in the AF that can out run or out lift a marine (and out fight once I get into a martial arts school once im in). That is all mainly cause I want to be the exception to the rule you are talking about.

Throwing the Iron around makes me feel amazing! My supervisor is being a Royal B* today, however my response in my head is "Yep and I can outlift you and your husband combined. WHAT NOW!?!?!?!?!?" hehe my inner monolog sounds alot like a 14 year old boy that is trying to be bigger than he is.

I don't today took a turn for the worst just found out from my manager I've been placed on probation at work because a customer screwed up their deposit and is blaming me because that customer has a lot of money they're taking actions against me the customer responsible for their screwup well I'm on my want to break now and I am going to the gym to lift anger switch directly into the iron no chance to stew at sll

Catching up after taking some time away from the forums. Sorry to hear about your grandma, but I'm glad that she's doing better and is expected to make a full recovery! And I'm glad that your work isn't shitty about situations like that - I've had jobs where, unless it was a parent or sibling, time off was rarely granted. 

 

Sucks about work, though - getting blamed for someone else's negligence is never fun, nor is it right. Going to the gym to work off the anger sounds like a good idea. I hope that your day gets better.
