Sooooo...

 

I did my strength training at lunch, because, omg Day 1.  So excite.   Burned 300 calories.

And then I ate uber healthy normal portion amounts of food all day.

A lovely dinner of lemony chicken and potatoes with lots of broccoli for dinner.

Off to hockey clinic I went ... and skated for an hour doing small area games.     Burned 600 calories roughly.

Then my men's league team, which I had been waffling about playing all day because I've lost ALL my confidence to play with the boys this season (MCL had me out for 3 months, then my womens team schedule snafu'd me, then I got sick for a month.   I've literally only played 4 out of 24 games with them.  SUCK.)  Anyway, they had a bench of 6.   They gave me the excited puppy dog eyes, "You're gonna play right?"   How could I say no?

Switched jerseys, skated for another 90 minutes.   Burned another 800 calories.

 

(Come to think of it, this COULD be called a Cheechoe THREECHOE workout day, huh!)

 

The bad news that comes with all this?

 

I honest to god just made the fatty mcfattiest sandwich ever.   Whole grain white bread (it's all we had here), MEGABANANA (sliced), 2 full, freaking tablespoons of peanut butter, and 10oz of skim milk.   554 calories of post workout nomminess.

 

But MFP tells me: *You've earned 1,951 extra calories from exercise today!    2000 EXTRA?!?!?!

       

TOTALS 1903 calories eaten ... (I tried, I really did!)

Daily Goal (for deficit still) 3351 ....???

Remaining 1448 - yeah, not happening.

 

Long story short ... ugh, Starpuck, save a little ass kicking for day 2, eh?   

 

(I also took a puck to the inside of my ankle... of course where there is precious little protection.   And of course, I skated through it even though it happened on my first shift.)

 

I'm already sooooooo sore.   *whimper*

When you said fatty Mcfatty sandwich I thought it would be something like salami and cheese and mayo and nutella. NOT a relatively healthy but butter and fruit concoction!!!

I am an advocate of full fat milk though. Drop the skim. ;)

LOL, I was only saying that it was fatty mcfatty because a 'snack' over 500 calories is really unusual for me.  My meals usually hover around 300.    Normally, ya know on a day where I don't exercise for 3 hours lol, that'd be out of the question.  

 

I was noting that even WITH the sandwich I technically didn't meet my calorie consumption goal.  Hee.

 

Full fat milk Karina?  It's like drinking cuuuurds.

(I actually prefer almond milk over real milk, but we have no room in the fridge right now for it.  Sniff sniff.)

So that's the bruise on my ankle.   From the puck that hit me off of a shot at point.    During my first shift of the game.   Heh.

Yeah, that's through the skate too.   -.-

 

Sleep last night was very poor.   One interesting thing about the Fitbit Charge HR is that I can see now, directly, how long it takes for my body to chill out after hockey!

 

I was done skating by 10:50.  Home and unpacked by 11:30.   Ate my pb&banana sandwich and got into bed at 12:20.

That heart rate didn't get below 75 until after 2am!

 

Oh!  And I will talk about the Polar HRM vs the Fitbit Charge HR as soon as I get caught up at work here - we got a lady out so double the fun!

This challenge theme is wonderful, Starpuck.  I think you've got a lot set up for yourself here, but I really think you can do it :) You might have to put on your hard hat a few times, but that's the whole point isn't it?

 

That is one crazy successful day 1! And even if you didn't have all those spare calories that sandwich sounds full of lovely post-workout recovery stuffs.  Protein? Whole wheat? Healthy fat? Potassium? Sounds like a win to me. :D Hope that ankle isn't too sore!

Day 2 was a rest day --- hah, like you guys didn't see that coming!

 

I took it easy at work.   Ate 1400 calories (well almost 1400, close enough.)   I then did something I hate.   I took a 30 minute hot soak in a tub full of Epsom salts.    I haaaaate baths.   Why?  Because that's 30 minutes of sitting around doing nothing when I could be doing far more funner stuff.   Got into bed at 11pm and got a solid 7.5 hours of sleep even with the restless moments.    

 

Had WHOA crazy nightmares all night.   One was very Supernatural like - and I was in this giant house trying to rescue people, and the bad guys (demons/spirits/something) showed up and so I ran to hide in the basement.    I was almost in the clear, when suddenly, out of the shadows, something furry and very strong jumped out and wrapped itself around my neck and began suffocating me.  That's where I woke up.   CRAP!

 

Still pretty sore today, but I plan on hitting the warehouse and getting some rowing in, then some extra stretching. 

 

Food is very well on track!    I can't believe how quickly you can lose the bloaty-blobby feeling once you cut out restaurant food.    I think I've found one of my summer reward/goals too.   Regardless of the number on the scale (though I suspect it will go down as a side effect) - if I can get my body shape back to looking like Tree Hanging Starpuck before summer hits?       I am buying this:

Day 3?  Is today Day 3?   I think it is.

 

So, food, A+.  Woo.   I got to my necessary minimum calorie goal, FINALLY.   Though, I may have done that by drinking 300 calories worth of coffee??  LOL  (1 vanilla iced coffee and then 2 cups of regular with 2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp cream each)

 

Everything else was healthy smealthy.   And my gut-tract is getting happy about that, if you know what I mean.   *waggle*

 

I also got a "move" day in by getting 30 minutes of rowing in.    

I upped the intensity off and on, by imagining I was trying to avoid falling over a waterfall.  

And dragons.

I forgot not only a work out shirt, but also my sweatpants (this is what I get for thinking I should WASH them once in a while)... which means I could not do my lunch workout at work.      

 

Tonight is also D&D night, in which I drive STRAIGHT to my friends house to play.     Good news is that I packed my left overs so that I would not be tempted to eat out (which then opens the snack floodgates) but bad news is there is no time to fit in a proper workout (or clothes to wear for it.)

 

On the flip side, I am still very very sore from head to toe.    My overzealous Monday has not been healed yet, so perhaps this is a silver lining.  Maybe my body NEEDS one more day of rest.  (I did 'move' yesterday at least.)    I guess I will count this as a lesson in 'shit happens' and practice not beating myself up over it.

2. After a really active day I tend to sleep sooooooooo deeply which almost always activates weird crazy dreams from my excessive REMing.  Sounds like you've been a victim of this as well.  You probably needed that mega sleep though :)

I'm seconding (seventhing? I lost count) the getting of that suit. And embrace the rest day, even if it was unintended, it sounds like you could use a little down time after all that.

Rest day is restful.  Don't beat yourself up and let those chatty muscles shut the balls up.

 

Good on you for packing food for game night!  That definitely helps to keep snacking to a minimum.

Oh if I were sleeping deeply I'd tolerate the strange dreams.  It's been some of the most broken, disturbed, restless sleep ever.  My new Fitbit that automatically picks up 'when you are sleeping' hasn't even been able to sort out when 'sleep' is for me the past 3 nights.  :(

UM! No!?  I work out in my company's WAREHOUSE, remember?    All that shields me, sometimes, is a row of bubble wrap lol!   I can always work out tomorrow and Sunday if I want. :)   Still gets me 3 lifts in.

So - the day's continued catastrophes carried on into gaming time.

I had celery there, for me to snack on.    It got pushed to the far back of the fridge, lower level.   And froze.

I gave it a shot anyway ... AND OMG GROSS.  It definitely got messed up.  (I had a feeling, as the poor stalks had absolutely wrinkled from the abuse.)

 

Instead, there were giant cupcakes (friends bday there today) and a tray of my absolute favorite:  Red Velvet Donut Holes.

I DID NOT EAT EITHER THE CUPCAKES OR DONUT HOLES!

 

I did swap out the celery/hummus snack for some of the Smartfood White Cheddar popcorn- but much to the teasing of my tablemates ... I actually measured out an honest to god 1-3/4 cup serving of the stuff.    Then had my already plotted Fiber One Protein Granola bar for my sweet tooth.

 

As I did not actually get any workout in today, I hit my target calorie goal of 1400.  (Rest day target)   The thing is?   It's just before midnight, and I think I've been legitimately hungry for the past 2 hours.     Fitbit Charge HR, which monitors my heart rate all day to get a 'best-as-you-can-guess' estimate on calorie burn, says that I will finish the day off at just shy of 2200 calories burned.  (WITHOUT EXERCISING?  I don't buy it.)   Ok, I had more steps than a normal work day - but still.   That seems high.  *shrug*    But, if that's the case, then that could make sense, as eating only 1400 calories when I've burned 2200 is kinda starving the bod.   Food for thought.   Or, is that thoughts for food?

 

Tomorrow I may do my strength workout at lunch, and hockey game at night.    I'll just take it easy at the workout.   But this also means I need to plan an extra 900 calories into my meals... how the frak am I gonna do that?   LOL    Tomorrow's consumption goal should probably sit around 2300 EATEN.     And I don't wanna do it with crap calories for once.   Ok, I lie, I will allow myself one of my terribly not even coffee really, McDonalds Iced Coffees hehehehehe.

 

Off to bed I go.   Fingers crossed for no nightmares.
