During and after my first challenge something became very clear to me: I'm true dieting, I'm true denying myself things. I want to be happy, and I don't need to be thin to achieve that.


That being said: I do want to be healthy and have the energy to enjoy life to its max.


 


My exercise of choice is dancing (mostly zumba now, but I love all kinds of dancing). For that I was convinced I should join the Assassins. But I know how to dance and I already love it and do it often, so I don't think joining the assassins will add much to my journey. I do, however, want to learn to love my body, to find balance and just be satisfied. And I think the Druids are the place to be to achieve this.


 


But how rude, let me introduce myself:


I'm a 30 year old mom of 2 boys (2,5 and 4,5 years old) and live in the Netherlands. I am a WAHM (work at home mom). I make cloth diapers and mei tai's (carriers) to sell on my site while taking care of my boys.


 


My motivation to end the cycle of dieting and finally be satisfied with my own body


 


Main quest: Finding balance and satisfaction. Not really a measurable thing, but it'll have to do for this 6WC


 


Quest 1: Focus on the food I eat and how it makes me feel


This means no tv, phone, tablet, book or something like that when I'm eating something. Just me and my food (and the other people with whom I'm sharing the meal)


Measurement: A = 0-3 meals with some distraction, B = 4-9 meals with some distraction, C = 10-15 meals with some distraction


Reward: A = +3 CON, B = +2 CON, C = +1 CON


 


Quest 2: Stop eating when I am comfortably full


Measurement: A = 0-3 times feeling too full, B = 4-9 times feeling too full, C = 10-15 times feeling too full


Reward: A = +3 CON +2 WIS, B = +2 CON +1 WIS, C = +1 CON


 


Quest 3: Practice yoga


I've noticed before that yoga helps me get in touch whit my feelings and makes me feel relaxed and balanced.


Measurement: A = 6 times yoga, B = 5 times yoga, C = 4 times yoga


Reward: A = +3 STA +2 STR, B = +2 STA +1 STR, C = +1 STA


 


Live quest:


I've fallen in love with the Konmari method of organizing ones home. I've started this journey already and I really want to extend this to this challenge.


Konmari teaches to go per category in stead of by room. I've done my clothes, books and fabrics and the clothes and books of my boys.


Measurement: A = 12 category's done, B = 9 category's done, C = 6 category's done


Reward: A = +2 CHA, B = +1 CHA, C = +0.5 CHA

Hello Terah, welcome to the Druid's grove !

 

Strong challenge ; S.M.A.R.T goals  ; with those quests you're heading towards a mindfull eating pattern for sure.  Getting rid of as much distractions as possible will be helpful, tho it still will be a huge task.  I myself am bad at multi-tasking my attention between food & other people.

 

We noticed an enormous increase of people going for mindfull eating last challenge & started an accountability group.  It'll hopefully spill over with tips & experiences soon.

 

allso intrigued by the KonMari ; i've spent the last 2months of just throwing stuf away.  but it grinded to a halt.  Maybe reading up on this system can rekindle the flame.

And the challenge has started!

I've eaten without distractions today and stopped every time I was feeling comfortably full.

I have honored my appetite by eating what I really wanted. Oreo's with nutella is delicious btw ;) And there is halve a roll of oreo's left, because I STOPPED eating them when I felt comfortably full. The knowledge that I can have them any time I want helps me to eat less. It sounds crazy, but is it is so true. Good bye binges!

Edit: Did my first yoga session for this challenge. I loved it, although it was the first time with mickey mouse playing on the background ;) (My boys are both home because of the carnival hollidays)

I did this workout I wasn't able to stand on both hands when folded that way, but the rest was very doable.

That is such a wise thing to say. It's such a powerful motivator!

This is such an important thing to do. A lot of people have this bad habit of eating "On-the-go" and not savouring their food. It's great that you're making a conscious effort to do it  :triumphant:

 

I did this workout I wasn't able to stand on both hands when folded that way, but the rest was very doable.

Now that's cool...the assassins would be proud  :tongue:

I'll be here along with you along the way, and I'm loving the yoga workout you posted.

Perhaps I'll start doing that instead of sun salutation, since it seems so meditative and fluid.

Hello Teammate!

 

I think your challenge goals are fantastic. I am also working on trying to be more mindful when I eat; doing little things like sitting at the table for meals. I look forward to learning more about the yoga you are doing. I have a yoga component to my challenge because I want to increase my flexibility.  That is why I relate to both the Assassins and the Druids. They are strong and agile with a certain inner strength. While I'm going to start my journey with the Assassins I'm sure I see you in the Druid forums too.

Felt like crap yesterday, apart from not working on my LQ it was still a good day quest wise.


I really wanted ice cream on the end of the day and bought it too. After a few bites I felt full and satiated and I put it away in the fridge! Knowing I can have it any time I feel like it gives me so much peace :)

Not found peace yet, but getting there.

I dreamed last night I stood on the scale and it said 98 kg's (that is 22 kg's more than I am now). I have to trust the process, and not standing on a scale is part of that. Going to look at motivational pictures now.

A win and a loss today:

I KM'd the dishrags, towels and table cloths today. Another bag of trash out of the door!

I'm embarrassed to say that there was just one dishrag without holes in it, so I tossed them all out and bought new ones. 

The before and after picture:

And the loss: I wanted potato chips all day and didn't give in (what normal person eats potato chips on a monday afternoon?). But the urge to eat them got stronger in the evening and in stead of eating them slowly and savoring every bite, I ate them in front of the tv :( Two portion sized bags. If I had payed more attention, if I had just given in earlier today this woudn't have happend.

Well, it is not the end of the world (obviously) and I learned from it. So I'm moving on
