Everyone falls sometimes.

sr6.jpg

Take it from me. Six months ago, nothing could harm me. I was rocking 50 pull ups and 200 pushups a day and have the least % body fat in my life-- then I switched my workout the maintained my muscle mass. Since the beginning of the last challenge, I kept losing weight. I was forever hungry. Then I kept losing muscles, my strength, and my mind. Relationships fell out of places. Even my best friends pulled away-- my work was on halt. I sat in front of computer several hours a day and got no work done at all.

The worst was my heart. My heart wanted to leave my chest, and it had tried.

Turned out I have inherited a genetic disease called Hyperthyroidism. The lucky 1% of the world who have this disease will lose a lot of weight for no reason, become irritable and emotional. And without treatment, I'd have a heart attack.

But as my beloved Eastern literature has taught me, you can survive your deepest falls. You just have to be washed up somewhere and nursed by your [attractive gender] bystander who will bring you back to health and inspire you to fight again-- with highly chance of becoming the character's love interests.

Unfortunately I have no said nurse by my side-- but I have a very able bodied doctor bringing me to somewhat stable health. I am ready to be back in this game.

And in my sickness, I salvages some positive aspects out of it.

1. I learned that health is the most important part of your life.:

One thing out of balance, and the castle come toppling down over you. Balance is extremely important

2. I learn that a person can't command [insert deity here]

I might workout and be health careful and stay on the innerpart of the sidewalk, and I would be hospitalized eventually. Sometimes things happen by chances and it's not anybody's faults. You just have to pick up what's left of life and move on.

3. I got rid of one toxic friendship, and know who my real friends are.

During the sickness, I have less tolerance to bull, and I made some pretty good decision. A friend had been toxic; they had talked a lot about their problems (about how their romantic encounters treated them, mostly,) and never asked about mine, and when I couldn't come up with the expected response, they struck where it hurt. I had been in this friendship for 12 years, and I am glad I am free from it now.

In the other hand, an 8-year friend who I found self-centered at times turned out to be very caring and understanding. I misjudged the person, and I feel good to finally see them as good friend they are.

I got a lot of supports from my roommates and my bosses, and I couldn't be luckier considering the situation. I also found supports from NF people. Especially you, Teirin, you ROCK!

Anyways, I'm blabbering too much. This is how Phytomancer recovers from the fall:

Phytomancer! So glad to have you back with us and on the way to good health. I know what you mean about learning who your friends are during a time of adversity. Interesting how sometimes people only want to hear "I'm fine, things are good"

Your challenge looks good, simple and reasonable. I hope your condition stabilizes and that all is well. Good luck!

Xena, Thanks! My condition is getting better, but I'll stick to the meds for a while-- not that it stop me from crushing it. :)

Glad to know that you are on the comeback trail!

You have had a tough time of it, but you are going to rock this. And what a way to recover from a fall - to land on a dragon!

New challenge... Woohoo!

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity:

but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

~T. E. Lawrence

When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands,

flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.

Yes. New challenge! Riding a dragon is somewhat perfect because it's harder than fighting from the ground-- however if succeed, it's awesome!

You're honestly one of the last people I expected to fall off the wagon, you were rocking the workouts and your overall progress was amazing! I'm a little shocked to hear about health issues, but it's a good thing you're aware of it now and it's great how the experience has taught you things and helped you clear up your social life as well. Glad to have you back, looking forward to be impressed again. You got this

Thanks, Dark, it's been a hell of a ride. I'm still not fully recover, but I'm getting there.

Week 1 was a struggling C. I have a habit of buying snacks now that I recovered from forever hunger. My greens and writing are only adequate. However, it's been a long time since I am tracking things I so, and I will have to take it slow...

Ha! It's a copy and paste typo. :P. Though now I wonder what a babana fruit would taste like.

Yikes, hyperthyroidism is nothing to sneeze at. My Oma and roommate were both diagnosed with it in the past year. Trying to figure out hormone regulation = mood swings, random cravings and bleh, unexplicable weight loss/gain, weird sleep patterns... yeah, it's a battle in itself.

Positive Thought of the week

- I heard that you are the average of five people around you. I examined my five closet friends, and here are the traits I received from them.

1. My male roommate- Generosity- He would make food and invite friends over-- sharing the food and video games, and discuss their personal life. He never gets angry, and when he does, he forgives quickly.

2. My female roommate- Passion- She works hard to get where she is, and she keeps working no matter what comes down. Her passion burns a beautiful spark, and I would try to work as hard as she does.

3. My close friend- Conviction- He protects the weak and has a fights to save to world from different issues: gender equality, racial equality, global climate instability. He uses all the power he can to do what he thinks is right. He might, after all, be Batman. Except his parents live happily in Chicago.

4. My Martial Arts Senior (also another close friend)- Quiet Strength (Humility)- Seeing him on the street, you would never imagine that this guy would take 30 seconds to snap your neck clean off your head. He is a dark, tall, shy, quiet man who humbles himself over any praises. (But make him angry, and you better have a plane ticket out of town.)

5. My Muay Thai Instructor- Sensitivity- There is no secret of this guy strength. He's built like a wheat grinder. However, people give him trust and love instead of fear because he is caring every single one of his friends. If you're hurt in the mat, he was the one whose expression softened first [takes a short guy like me to notice.] He is sensitive to people's emotions and a romantic partner to his bride. Yeah-- he might be scary as a rhino in armor, but you'd be lucky to be his friend.

6. (Wait, there are only 5 people. Wha--) Internet Friends- Support- I mean, I could have these friends but never achieve my fitness goals. Without you guys, I will eat way too much sweets (Instructor,) sleep very little (Senior,) Prioritize other things than fitness (M roommate,) sit all day (F roommate,) or drive everywhere (close friend.) You guys get me off the couch and up the chin-up-bar. So thanks!

Anyhoozles, so glad your back and kicking butt!!

Yeah, all that with cheese on top please. Oh, and I'm hungry again.

On the side note though, apparently with the gigantic weight loss in both muscle and fat, I now fit into one of the eight Ideal Chinese Men (The Scholar/ The Nerd.) At least that's what a Chinese woman told me-- not sure if I should be happy about that.

Take it easy on yourself too for a bit.

Thanks. I will!

I assumed he was just bending the floral world to his own will...he is a phytomancer after all.

Week 1 looked pretty solid to me.

Apparently there is a fruit called Babana. I swear I didn't create this to hide my embarrassment.
