NightWatcher13: T.A.R.D.I.S. lands on Baker Street

Sorry, haven't been able to keep up with my green text posts like I'd like to (for anyone other than me who actually follows my ADD fangirl story following an immortal khajiit currently lost in a time machine with a madman), but will update it to where I wanted it to be here in my next post. Suffice to say, the TL;DR version is basically that the Doctor helped NW find someone who can help with her current issue - figuring out who the spider at the center of this web actually is.

tumblr_ly3vkijOsi1r3zat8_zps7a5f86e9.gif

So last challenge went really well for the most part, not perfect but much better than I'd been doing overall last year. But I did realize that I'm trying to address a lot of problems the wrong way; primarily I'm trying to deal with everything with pure brute force, which is my natural tendency - I'll reason it through, develop a plan, then smash the problem with the plan and pure willpower. (I swear, I need a green ring.) Problem is, I need to be dealing with things where they're sprouting rather than where I'm seeing the outward issue; I need to treat the disease more than the symptoms. And that means a lot of mental and emotional work. Yuck. But sadly, brains and brawn won't beat stress and anxiety into submission.

Main Quest: Slay the anxiety dragon

SQ1: Meditation. Again. I need to set aside time every day this challenge to do this, starting at 5-10min for week 1, but getting toward half an hour by week 6. Scores out of 7/week, +2 Cha, +3 Con

SQ2: Yoga/pilates. I need something that's gentle on my body, but going to build the strength that I need for other aspirations later - both of these have the balance of both qualities. I'll also be adding in some BW strength training 2x/week, trying to keep the number low to prevent another injury until my body regains some more muscle. So yoga/pilates 4x/week, strength training 2x/week. +3Dex, +2Str

SQ3: Study quests have been failing miserably recently, so I need to be more mindful of making sure that my brain gets its exercise too. I'm going to try to keep the hours low on this so I don't burn out, but I also want to make sure that they actually HAPPEN, since this has been the #1 thing I've been failing on the last couple of challenges. +1Wis, +1Cha

LifeQuest: Devotions daily; I need to be focusing more on my emotional and spiritual aspects, and this is a huge part that I've been completely ignoring for no good reason other than I've been stressed and therefore showing avoidance toward anything and everything. +2 Wis, +1 Con

Can't wait until spring so I can get my bike back out & work on my endurance (not to mention burn fat rather than gas for transportation), but right now as I stare out my window at all this lovely snow I know that's not going to happen for a little while yet. But it is almost time for me to start getting an indoor garden kit for starting plants :D

But, if you want to see some ridiculous awesomeness in the snow... here's a mini horse pulling us on sleds!

18277 10152868917353110 4054569306648769676 N

Also sorry about the lack of keeping up with my logs due to lack of compy, I'm going to try to be a little more patient this challenge and post most days with food and activity logs

Holy friggin crap, I'm in the most productive mood ever... And I'm at work so I can't really do much. These things need to strike at 7 am, when I can actually do something. Oh we'll, I can at least post on here for break.
NightWatcher stopped and whirled in a circle upon entering the strange blue box as the door shut behind her, ears flat and eyes wide in surprise.
"Are you going to say it?" Asked the Doctor as he stepped over to what appeared to be the control panel. NightWatcher just stood and gaped for a few seconds as her mind tried to catch up to what her senses were telling her.
"Did we just step through a portal?" She finally asked, and the strange man at the controls shook his head and laughed.
"Nope, just the door into my TARDIS. She's a spaceship of sorts, except she travels through time as well."
"A what ship?" But before the answer could come, a sudden shudder rand under their feet and sent the Doctor into the control panel and NightWatcher into the far wall, saved from broken bones by feline agility and landing on her feet before the gravity realigned itself to the floor, putting her on her face.
The Doctor looked slightly abashed and amused at the same time, as Watcher looked around herself before standing back up. "Sorry about that, sometimes she doesn't want to go to when I want her to. Especially when it's a place and time we've been a few times, it makes the whole fabric of space-time in the area a bit wobbly." NightWatcher just resigned herself and nodded, silently determining to learn more about this when she had time do do so.
"Where, or when, are we going?" She asked as he moved a few dials in a seemingly nonsensical pattern and pulled a lever.
"To find someone who can probably help with your current predicament, you could say he specializes in this type of investigation. But be warned, he can be a bit... brusque." The machine whirred to a stop and he rushed for the door. Watcher followed cautiously, poking her head out to look around.
"Where is this? I've never seen anything like it" she said, watching as giant metal carriages whisked by.
"Not too far from where you lived, we're in London, England. It's the when that's so different - cars instead of horses, electricity instead of fire or water. A marvel truly, only a few hundred years and such drastic changes. But still not terribly open minded," he said, handing her an odd-looking hat. She put it on and glimpsed herself in a window - her fur was gone, and she looked like the people she had grown up around. "This will help protect you from... certain judgements." She nodded, her mother had told her that where she had come from they had such problems, a place called Tamriel.
The Doctor guided her to a door marked 221B and raised his hand to knock, and NightWatcher asked where she could find a monastary to read about this place.
"Oh! Yes," the Doctor said, handing her a black object the size of her paw. "This can tell you all you need to know." A kind looking woman answered the door, and the Doctor smiled genially. "Hello, is mister Holmes in?"
The old lady smiled and nodded. "He's just upstairs, go on up." He led Watcher up to the room where a bored looking man sat glowering at a book.
"What do you want?" He grumbled absently, staring at the pages.

Hey! Missed you hopping on the thread randomly :) I tend to be a bit Thor-esque, every problem should be solvable with just a big hammer right?

put-the-hammer-down-o.gif

...oh, guess not.

What fun.Great story and challenge.

Thanks :D

(green post is now actually green... will have to learn to do that on the iPod. not exactly vital, but makes it easier for me to see real world vs fiction updates)

So, check-in for today:

chicken lunchmeat & cheese sandwich on homemade bread

2 packets fruit&cream oatmeal

Earl Grey with some almond milk

3 sticks of deer jerky

1/2 cup brown rice&veggies

banana

gas-station coffee (i.e. cappucchino) 24oz

chicken&hummus sammich on homemade bread

Not great, but not the most terrible either. I *had* more rice&veggies with me, but couldn't eat it all. Oh well.

SQ1 - check, but very un-cooperative mind

SQ2 - none today, will make sure yoga or pilates happens tomorrow. (strength will probably wait until Wed this week to start)

SQ3 - 45 min of guitar, 1 ep Hardcore History, half an hour of reading

Life - check

Realized SQ3 is about as fleshed out as a NightMare... whoops.

Minimum/week:

2 hours guitar

5 hours of history (i cheat and listen online at work)

1 hour japanese

3 hours reading a book

A little light perhaps, but right now it's better to start low and build up if I can in later challenges (and add back in science and math other than SciShow on youtube...)

Also - this is a thing, so I had to show it. Khajiit+TARDIS

SQ1 - check

SQ2 - yoga

SQ3 - hardcore history ep

Life - no :/ meant to listen to DAB at work, but got sidetracked

Food:

chicken sandwich with cheese

homemade guac&chips

2 meat sticks (venison)

brown rice&veggies

handful of dried apricots

2 mandarins

mixed chips cookie

2 coffees + 1tbsp creamer

peanut butter cream pie

I can't even begin to regret the pie...  :redface-new: The cookie on the other hand wasn't terribly great :/ oh well, protein's still up, I need more veggies but that'll have to wait a couple more days

O_O The mini-horse sled was so adorable, I had to squeeze my cat. SO CUTE!

Ah, I see you're quest is to slay the anxiety dragon! You must harvest it's scales and fashion a cloak from them, to wear about your shoulders as warning to all other negative emotions that DARE stand in your way!

And then unleash your Thu'um from the highest mountain!

Oooh, speaking of power rings, a friend is going to boot up a DC tabletop game and we all have to be villains. My char is apparently going to get this nifty orange ring that turns her into a kleptomaniac. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but it will be fun stealing everyone's right socks. Only the right socks.

I must say, your diet actually looks quite good! I, too, must use creamer in my coffee. Until my family magically gets richer and can afford lighter roast, it will continue to be this way. Also -- deer sticks! I laughed when I saw that at first. ^_^ It sounds delicious though.

Oh gosh, the avarice rings are kinda scary... In a different way than the red ones, but still scary. Though both are better than yellow... But that'd be an awesome thing to steal, those poor right socks won't know what hit them!

Little Chief had that affect on people, and he milks it too lol. But he's super sweet, so he gets away with some of it.

Mmm, I like this talk of a dragon-scale cloak...

*shouts at the first dragon she passes to harvest it's scales

I can not get away from creamer in coffee, but tea I can drink straight. Go figure right?

Yep. Payday today - last night I ate hotdogs wrapped in tortillas for dinner. Typical.

hmmm, that sounds yummy. Not healthy, but yummy.

Ok, check-in for the last couple of days:

SQ1 - check

SQ2 - no

SQ3 - HC history

Life - no

alrighty, check-in for today

Day 5:

SQ1 - check

SQ 2 - strength

InvPullups - 3/2

knee pushups - 5/5

squats - 8/7

lunges - 5/side

not as much as I want to do, but since I'm doing it late at night (with a very lovable "helper" who won't leave me alone for 10 sec) it'll do for now, I was actually surprised at how well I did for the pushups honestly. 2 sets (1 for lunges) for now until I know how my body's going to react tomorrow; last thing I need is to be shuffling around horses.

SQ 3 - HC history, 1/2 hr guitar, 1/2 hr reading

Life - check :)

Food:

Latte - chocolate cherry flavor

1/2 "Cali" panini and spinach salad with candied nuts

2 mandarins

rice, veggies & chicken leg

banana

york peppermint patty

vanilla chai

1 glass moscoto (seriously spellcheck? it's NOT mosquito!!!)

hummus & chips

HOLY CARP I GOT ALL MY CHECKMARKS TODAY!!! Hopefully in the future that won't be so unusual, but for right now it just makes me happy =^-^=

Also, I am now dangerous... I come armed with the partial start to a well thought out plan to my schedule!!!

Check-in for yesterday:

SQ1- no

SQ2 - no yoga/pilates, but did horse stalls and got a lesson in farriering... ouch. I have knots under my shoulder blades now.

SQ3 - nope

Life - *sigh* nooooo

You'll build momentum and then it will be unusual not to have all the checkmarks.

Yay! I just need to work on said momentum, apparently.

Oh cool, you're like the only person I know that actually knows about this stuff, which is odd to say because I may be nerdy but I never got into comic books. Ever. I was reading novels and stuff at adult-level when I was in 4th grade, so the comic book thing totally just passed me by.

I was told that I will have to do the whole 'creed' slogan thing they do for the rings and I looked up the orange ones.

facepalm.jpg

Oh god, why. It's so horrible. I can't say that in-game without triggering a laughing fit from the whole group, I just know it. I have to write a new one up, if the GM will let me. It's so bad. I'm totally writing something new. Will keep you posted.

If you think of anything else I could steal/filch/abscond with for loads of random fun, let me know. So far I got right socks, key rings (just the rings, not the keys), shoelaces and zipper pulls. I'll probably upgrade to more evil hoarding later on, but sometimes it's those small, inconvenient things that can be truly diabolical.

The pony is named Little Chief? 8D OHMYGAWRSH, IT'S ADORABLE! Okay, I need to squeeze my cat again.

And holy crap, me too! I can't drink coffee without some creamer, but tea I can drink straight no problem! xD You're the only other person I know that does this. You are my fitness sibling or something.

That's where I've seen it before: you eat a lot like Razzy!

HEY!

Lol even you admitted to eating like that when broke

That's right, you tell him! *high fives*

Also, finished both of these

Though I may be adding a few more rounds to the outside of the blanket. I'm never sure how big to make a baby blanket

Week 1:

SQ1 - 4/7

SQ2 - 1 yoga, 2 str. Check on the strength, but not even close on the core :/

SQ3 - guitar and history rocked out, only got about half the reading done I wanted to, Japanese, once again, did not happen.

Life - 4/7

So almost exactly half completed of week 1, all said and done.

I did just find out today that I fit into some of my old pairs of jeans that are a size smaller than I've been wearing, so yay something's going the right direction :)

And for today

Day 1:

SQ1 - check

SQ2 - none today

SQ3 - guitar and history

Life - no

Time to make Razzy squeeze her kitty again... this one's Colonel Peanut, m'dear, and this was his first time taking me out on the trail :D

I never actually read much of comic books either; I love the cartoons and novels though. One of these days I'll start reading comics and manga, but not yet.

Key rings and zipper pulls?!?!

zMDTyAo.gif

That's just EEEEEeeeeeeeviiiiiilll... idk maybe the caps from people's water bottles or travel mug lids? One knitting needle out of every pair? Backs of stud earings? The list of horrible things to steal that are worthless until you loose it is truly an endless one.

Question on the creed - you got the actual orange lantern one, not the "what's mine is mine and mine and yours is mine, not yours" one right?

It comes in fits and starts, never linearly. There are no straight lines in nature, and that's all we are.

Yea, sad thing is I know this fact, but I have difficulty applying this logic to myself - I tend to think I should be able to line up all my ducks and that's that. And that is NEVER just that. But I am slowly meandering my way up the winding hill.

Hey sorry that I'm late to the party

tumblr_mo1ap7h8PX1s4ukrvo4_400.gif

And these horses are far too cute.

*NW directs Sjard toward the cake and punch

No worries, not late :) Though something about the dance gif there is super contagious... *hops and spins around the room

OK, now that I've finished my novella of a post, is time for bed, and a more productive tomorrow, complete with snow/rain mixes...

Yay fitness siblings :3

OK, now that I've finished my novella of a post, is time for bed, and a more productive tomorrow, complete with snow/rain mixes...

*le gasp* You knit? That is awesome. I tried it once but got so stir crazy and frustrated I just quit. Those are looking beautiful though! A friend of mine knits and she made me this super soft scarf of awesomeness. Knitting is a great hobby. :P

YOU DROPPED A PANT SIZE! TIME FOR REJOICING! That is also one of the first things that changed for me. I went from a size 6 to a size 4. I'm actually happy to say I don't think I'll go below that size because my much of that area has been replaced by muscle, so I am content! Also, when you workout, keep tabs on your heart rate if you can, and see how long it takes for your heart rate to recover -- to drop down to a more 'normal' speed. The second thing I noticed in my fitness journey was heart rate recovery was steadily improving, which is also another great sign you're going in the right direction!

*SQUEEEEEEE* Colonel Peanut! Even the name is adorable! xD I've had horses all my life as well, but never a miniature. It's amazing at how strong they are, despite being so small! They are awesome little ponies.... and just look at the tack, it's so darn small and chibi! *squee*

:o Earring stud backs! That's a GREAT idea! And water bottle caps too, perfect! MUHAHAHAHAHA! This character will truly be diabolical!

Also, I love you so much right now. You have just earned yourself a million huggles for showing me that creed, because the 'mine, mine, mine' one is the only one I found. THANK YOU. That orange one is so much better, I can totally roll with it. I already wrote up one myself (LOL) but I like that one too. Here's mine:

All that glitters, all that bleeds,

Will never satisfy my needs,

I will take what's mine through might;

Worlds consumed in burning light.

Hmm, decisions, decisions..... The red oath is pretty wicked, won't lie. Definitely wouldn't want to run into one of those dudes. Nope. Not unless there's a building I need demolished.

You know, the best thing about week 1 is that if you ace it, then you've got momentum to encourage you to keep on acing, but if you fall a little short, then you get to make that kick-ass heroic comeback and beat the crap out of week 2.  It's win-win!  ^^

Exactly! The only way you can truly 'fail' is by not trying at all. So you're already winning!

Oooh, I like yours too. Though maybe for the meter 'take what's yours, now mine by might'? But super close to the lantern-style and super fitting for an orange ring bearer.

Hopefully will be up for yoga after work, but did stalls this morning & rode Cisco around the yard a bit bareback, so even if I'm too drained I can honestly say I was physically active ;) Panera for lunch today, Mac &chz and Mediterranean veggie sammich, baguette and caramel latte. So there's my food splurge for a bit.

Thank phayze & razzy, I'm off to beat week 2 into some form of submission :)

The minis are sooooo strong, it's crazy! Little Chirf was able to pull me AND Becca (we're talking over 400lb total here, probably more than he weighs) in the sleigh, on the trails, through the snow O.O
