Jittersthe.Clown
"Climb to the top of the world"System reboot initiated. ProtoJitters online. Battle program found. Upload previous missions. ...Upload failed. The latest newsletter from Steve had a link to an article he wrote about putting fitness first and being selfish about it. For those of you who are not new to my challenges knows that this is not me. I have a huge problem not putting others first; especially my family. To me, they take priority in my life, even if it means that I suffer."And as you stand tall, you will see..." This challenge, I will break that cycle. I will find a way to keep them as a priority, and make improvements for myself. I will do this for myself, and for them. We all deserve it. We booked a trip to Wisconsin Dells in late July, and I will not be embarrassed by the way I look. By my actions, perhaps, but not by my body.I will be following a simple workout routine for the next 6 weeks. I will continue my search for inner peace through meditation in the mornings. Most of all, and without a doubt the most difficult for me; I will get my eating habits under control, specifically, portions. "That when you fall..." Work out 4 days per week. No matter what. My family has helped me in the past with my workouts, they will help propel me to the man I can be. Too often I say I can't because I'm watching the kids or I have some obligation that prevents me from doing this. No more.0/4 - Weekly0/24 - 6WC Meditate 5 days per week. This is usually not a problem, but for some reason, I fell out of habit. Time to go back to my roots.0/5 - Weekly0/30 - 6WC Portion Control. Grading is subjective and difficult, but I will do my best on this. I should not be finished with my meal and going back for seconds before my wife and kids are done with half of their plate. I will try to limit my intake as well. To give you an understanding of my capabilities, 3 Chipotle burritos is no problem for me to finish. I was one quarter of the 36" pizza challenge team that finished in just over 13 minutes (the team gets 30 minutes) and had some of our friends pizza after. I can eat. I don't want that anymore. Why? Because I can't be there for my family if I'm dead. Pass/Fail 0/21 - WeeklyPass/Fail 0/126 - 6WC "You will fall from a height most men will never reach" I do this to be a better man. For my kids, for my wife and now, for myself. I deserve this. I will not let one failure deter me from my goals. I will stumble along the way, but it will not stop me. I will beat this. 1 Quote Level 2 Warforged Druid STR: 2, DEX: 1, STA: 3, CON: 3, WIS: 2, CHA: 3 "If these people tell this story to their children as they sleep; then maybe someday they'll see a hero is just a man who knows he is free." AlexCold
If there's one thing that I've learned from being a dad and husband. it's that you can't take care of your family if you're not well and happy. Physically and mentally, because at the same time they want you to be taken care of yourself. You're a great dad, that's not something you need to worry about not being any time soon. 3 Quote Pinterest: Alex's Paleo Wins - Recipes on Pinterest Instagram: alexcold23 MFP: dalex916 Link to comment
Ahyar Dreamspark
...and I will not be embarrassed by the way I look. By my actions, perhaps, but not by my body. /highfive. Welcome back XD A quarter of a 36" pizza...that's equivalent to a 9" pizza, and there would be less crust in the 36" pizza (but more grease) so--DAMNIT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? Now I want to time myself eating a 9" pizza, because I used to rock eating contests when I was little lol. On the subject of eating, though, portion control was a big issue for me when I was younger. The problem is that I don't even know what I did to put an end to me shoving gargantuan amounts of food in my face. It happened gradually, no doubt. As in, over the span of 10+ years. Now I only eat small meals and I can never eat a full plate at a restaurant lest I feel like my stomach will explode. It's like my stomach shrank over the years. Besides what you've already mentioned about not going back for seconds until your family is also done eating (great idea btw), a good way to keep excesses at bay might be to have an extra helping of lower calorie vegetables in your plate to begin with, just to help you feel too full to go back for seconds. I'm not sure how meal times work in your family, so I won't try to give advice just yet Do you all eat together? Or can you get away with having multiple smaller meals throughout the day? I reckon both you and your family will benefit from it. You are Mega man!Thank you. We had a workout night last night. JJ and I did the Avenger set from Naila Rey (he did awesome) while Jitter Bug and Pizzazz did some yoga/stretching workouts. Fun times. We all made up goal lists and I'm hoping it helps. We all also put down a reward for obtaining our goals. Should be fun. I'm not sure how meal times work in your family, so I won't try to give advice just yet Do you all eat together? Or can you get away with having multiple smaller meals throughout the day?Yeah, the math makes it a little worse than that... We eat dinners together and all three meals on the weekends. During the week, I have an early breakfast and lunch that is usually leftovers. I think another problem is my Pavlovian response when I'm at my desk and the break buzzer goes off, I feel like I should eat. I succumbed to that yesterday, but I am determined not to today. Put your fork down after every bite... That helps... It's just annoying to do when you are hungry! LolSubscribed!!!Sent from Tapatalk, all errors are the app's fault! ;-)I'm going to have to try that. Next time I use a fork, that is. Last night was Tacos. I did great with only two. For comparison, I would usually go through 4-5. Felt full enough after 2 and I think it helped my kids stay focused because I wasn't done and waiting for them to finish. Two stones with one bird. I went shopping last night and got a boatload (well, bag load) of veggies for meals and snacking on. We also planned out our vegetable garden for the spring, so I'm hoping mid to end of summer will be full of good food. You are going to crush this one Jitters! P.S. I always love your MegaMan themes. Jittersthe.Clown
Last night was a success on the workout front. As I mentioned, I got the whole family in on this 6WC. My son is going between the Avenger workout and the Man Down from Naila Rey. I'm going to be doing whatever grabs my fancy. He will be switching to his soccer practices in two weeks, so he'll have that going for him. Meals were better than normal. I did have dessert last night, but it was a single orange and chocolate milano cookie. I didn't meditate last night, but I did this morning. Raxie
I usually get 18" pizzas so I had to equate it to that in my brain... it's just one of those. I feel like I could totally do that... then again my eating abilities with pizza are drastically larger than with other food types. Me and pizza are just made for each other though hahah. I love this challenge, Jitters! Really taking the time to do this for you sounds like is what you need in your journey. As others have said, I highly doubt this will actually affect your family-ing abilities. In fact, it will likely benefit those things. You're certainly off to a great start! Never argue with the math. Derp. I even used the right formula, checked it twice, and...forgot to do x2 at the end (4x9" pizzas is an 18" pizza right? In a rush and don't have time to check.) This is the reason why my current challenge is called "Naxius gets more INT" I could totally do an 18" pizza in 10 minutes if we're allowed to throw up at the end! Quote Link to comment
