Kamber Lane
“Ow.†Veshki awoke and groaned. It was noteworthy that, while she lay very still squinting her eyes against the obnoxiously blue sky, there wasn’t a part of her body that wasn’t hurting. Ever her teeth seemed to be in on it. She had been laying here a while, her leather armor had warmed from the sun, and chafed her in all the places she wouldn’t admit. Damn stuff must have shrunk or something. Leather shrinks in the winter, right? “Not dignifying that with a response.†She muttered bitterly. Sitting up slowly she raised her bruised arm to shade her eyes and looked out across the pine crowded mountain side at where the lost Feytower-of-whatever had stood. Holy crap, there was nothing left but sunlit debris made up of the weird grey stone shot through with purple, piled a couple stories high, but nothing that resembled its original alien sweeping design. Veshki tried to stand and then put it off for later. Looking around she saw none of the other hired muscle or Boss Ur’Trag. Looking about the collapsed ruin she could only make out a fleshy bit near the base, possibly an arm. Looked like Talg’s. “Nice.†She grunted and happily recounted the snarky comment the flatlander had decided to make about her weight just within earshot. She had been ready to respond violently but the group entered the weird ruins to go hunt down some other non-tithing group who decided to explore the tower that was debatably within Boss Ur’trag’s territory. She managed to stand upright painfully, it’d been two years since she actually done any real work. Two years and 3 stone or so’s weight. Ugh. Talg wouldn’t have been an issue back then. Look at the size of that bloody buff arm under that rock. It had been pretty dangerous when attached to the rest of Talg, but she had been very fast. Had been. After her theft of the Badronis Diamond, she had gone soft two years later found herself almost broke and few remembered her, or recognized her. The wagon ride up into the Kam Laro’s had seemed like a easy way to get back into things. Sit there, shoot things, etc. Guard a wagon while the rest of the hired jackasses went into some ancient creepy feytower chasing some other group of idiots who liked playing in tombs. Veshki preferred robbing the living, they generally smelled better. It was at least 4 or 5 days down the mountain to the first village. Welp, best get moving. A huge crashing sound tumbles down the valley from nearby, rock shifting and falling as something, something big, was moving. "Of course." Starting Statistics: Howdy! WeeTerror
One-armed pull-ups? You go, girl. That is a bad ass kind of goal. I, too, am queen of starting stories. I have so many beginnings and no endings. It's so hard to sit down and force yourself to finish it when "ooh, look, did you see that shiny thing over there? Kamber Lane
I like the idea of this as a goal, the reality? Not so sure, I mean I could *almost* do them back when I was in good shape but I figure it's a nice target. As far as writing it is such a love hate thing. Kamber Lane
First Exercise set and... wow that was not good. Not only am I in worse shape than I thought, but I am in far worse shape than I thought. Still it was satisfying once the sparklies stopped dancing about my brain. Maybe they were fairies? Nope. That was exertion. Ughs. Finished two sets, but I remember sailing through 5 times this much so it's not impossible, just something to work up to. Kamber Lane
The noise, whatever it was, moved away quickly, and by the rumbling crashing sound of it, was probably just the ruined.. ruin, settling. Or that's what Veshki decided, because after taking stock of her painful and pitiful condition, she realized that had a threat arose, say one of the original delvers stumbling out of the wreckage pissed off, or even if it was, say, a small Chipmunk scrambling up to take issue with her gasping on the side of it's mountain, she would have been easy prey. She could barely move, much less defend herself. Sad. She dragged her ass over to the shade of one of the pines, and after a few minutes of awkward pulling at the brush, managed to conceal herself as best she could. "By Jinsa, this is pathetic." she grumbled, aching everywhere and somehow gaining in soreness as the day drug on. She re-estimated the time it would take to get down to Fekror in her current state. Looking out over the steep mountain valley through the pine branches she shrugged. "Well its downhill... and I'm generally roundish. Maybe a few days of energetic rolling could see me through this." She surveyed her surroundings again, and leaned back against the tree trunk, realizing exactly three seconds later her head was resting against pine sap. "Whatever." OK. So Noor and I did our first workout Monday, and today would be the day that we do our second series. However it has been determined that this is not going to happen, mostly because to work out, one needs to be able to walk. And that's classed as a Difficult roll right now. Like, I need a 20 just to wobble down the hallway. Ouch. Combine that with discovering my right wrist has gone on strike and I am feeling pretty close to 0 hitpoints right now. Bleh. But tomorrow will hopefully see a lessening in my battered state. Yeesh, I am more out of shape than I thought. 2 Quote Veshki Tral Lv 0 Assassin Recruit STR: 0 | DEX: 0 | STA: 0 | CON: 0 | WIS: 1 | CHA: 0Veshki starts over, Veski Starts Over - Again, "I was once known as the Wanton Wisp, skilled enough in the old climb an' cut that I finally managed the big score I always wanted. Kamber Lane
For the week one Mini-Challenge (Wis+1) at 6 wks. 1. Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable?I believe it is, it will take some time but knowing that I was at near this level of fitness a relatively short time ago (2.5 years) encourages me to keep pushing for it. Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? All three of my miniquests are part of a cohesive whole. The food issues are handled in 2 of the quests (cooking more and tracking) and the third is for breaking me out of an EXTREMELY sedentary status. The main three would be considered self contained, I don't see them as having sub-quests, although the food tracking and cooking are about better food, not merely recording what I eat. Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? The weight lose goal is very realistic, as I have attained that weight before from a high weight of roughly where I am now. It's been a couple years, and I am older but it is still workable. The one arm pull up? I don't know. I have never managed one of those but that is why I want to try for it. That is a pass, fail type deal, while the weight goal is one easily broken into segments by 10 pounds or such. Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? What will you use to track them? Preparing food will be tracked here, as will strength training. Logging food and Exercise will be tracked through myfitnesspal as well. How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? All 3 goal are graded on a Deadline (the 6 week term). There percentages are then read as grade scores so that while I may not ace it, I can still see the work, Progress, not perfection. What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? Injury (like my current wrist pain and inability to walk without looking like a pregnant penguin trying to outrun a seal) will be accounted for if it hampers my goals for more than a week and adjusted accordingly. Not here to hurt myself. Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? None of the above should occur within this first 6 week challenge for me. If they do, things can be moved around, as long as they are completed / attempted. Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? All my goals are hopefully supportive of each other. Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? Time is the one thing I have absolute tons of. Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? The main quest is more a result of following all my goals, than a piece of work itself. It is a measure to show that my goals are working. Your mini quest: Make sure your goals are definitely SMART. For completing this mini quest you will receive an additional +1WIS at the end of the 6 weeks. 2 Quote Veshki Tral Lv 0 Assassin Recruit STR: 0 | DEX: 0 | STA: 0 | CON: 0 | WIS: 1 | CHA: 0Veshki starts over, Veski Starts Over - Again, "I was once known as the Wanton Wisp, skilled enough in the old climb an' cut that I finally managed the big score I always wanted. starsapart
Welcome to the Rebellion! With the bodyweight work you're doing, you've attracted the attention of the Assassins' Guild.... but don't worry, I'm here in a supportive capacity! Even if you ultimately don't join us, we'd love to help you along on your journey, and there are a lot of people working on goals similar to yours within our black-clad ranks... If you think you might like to check us out, I hope you'll come by the Assassins' Den chat and say hello! We're very welcoming killers-in-black, really. You can also check out the Assassin Guild Info & Announcements for more info about what's going on with the guild. And though we may be the bodyweight guild, we're also a guild of extreme variety - we do a bit of everything! Additionally, if you like what you see, I encourage you to go introduce yourself on the Level 1 Assassin Initiates Q&A/Chat thread as well! There are a lot of fun people hanging out as they consider whether to join us - and you can make new friends, ask questions of guild leadership, post awesome gifs (we wouldn't be Assassins without gif parties) and more! I hope to see you there soon. If you ever need anything, feel free to PM me or catch my attention by quoting one of my posts. Kamber Lane
Minutes passed and the sun crawled ever so slightly westward, falling away from the mountain peaks and slowly creeping into Veshki's eyes where she lay panting beneath the pine tree. A sliver of shifting sunlight found her eyes and she grumbled moving away from the accusing light before rolling her eyes and sitting up. "Not getting closer to anythin' but dead up here." she grumbled. While the mountains were home of strange fey and vile mountain trolls, it was thirst, falls, and hunger that killed most foolish enough to climb them. Veshki rolled out from under the tree and kicked aside her make shift camouflage. The aches were still there but they weren't going to be replaced with anything worthwhile if she kept still. Wobbling over to the wreckage of the wagon she dug around and discovered a couple days of hard bread, a slab of dried venison and a chunk of cheese smeared across a wagon wheel. Scraping up what was vaguely clean she dropped it in a saddle bag that one of the dead horses would no longer need. Looking around the wreckage, and the crushed wagon, she was suddenly angry. Not angry at the towers collapse, feystone seemed to just do that occasionally, and not even at Boss Ur'Trag's pissing contest with some unguilded freeswords wandering into his territory, that was his right. No, she thought as she popped the ties on her battered maroon armor, she was angry at herself. She would be better off carrying some of her armor than wearing it. She had already loosened at as best she could and that wasn't good enough. It was a hindrance more than help, she thought as she wiggled it up over her head. Looking at the scratches brought back fun memories, while glancing at the overly loose ties that brought her back to the present. I'll just have to be extra careful until I can wear this again. Strapping it to the saddlebags as best she could, she flung the pack over her left shoulder. It'd have to do. Reaching down, she felt the comforting grips of her katars on her hips. She had carried them, named 'hopes' and 'dreams' for the better part of six years. Right now, she thought as she dug through the wreckage, a bow would be far more helpful. After a few minutes of digging she recovered Talg's long bow. "Well hi there." she grinned, pulling at it carefully, testing the line and finding it a bit tight. "Better than nothing." she said and, setting her gear, began to follow a crashed open trail down the mountain, where the earlier rock slide had fallen. It was more direct than the wagon road, and she had little desire to meet Boos Ur'Trag's people half way down at the base camp, she was done working with the Stone of Lore guild, damn Dwarves were racist to Humans anyway, it was time to start working for herself again. YAY! After skipping a couple days I hate the bodyweight training again and this time actually finished ALL three sets. I may croak shortly, I just wanted to share that before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Slowly. Panting. But I did it. And if I manage another one Sunday I will not have failed this week. I have logged my food, although over ate by a fair bit last night, but still working towards it. Kamber Lane
*I reset everything and tomorrow is the beginning of another 6 weeks.* Days had passed. Several but Veski had lost sight of anything resembling a trail and her earlier decision to try and avoid Boss Ur'trag warriors on the road down to Fekror had been revealed as poorly conceived. "I'm so lost." she grunted, sitting underneath a slight rocky overhang and staring at the valley below. It wasn't Fekror, and it wasn't Soar Crag, by the pits it wasn't anywhere she had seen before and she couldn't care less. "It looks reasonably flatter so, that's a destination." she gathered up with few supplies and weapons she had scavenged and looking over it all she hadn't accomplished much in her few days of wandering. Her armor didn't fit any better, her arms were not any stronger despite climbing down ravines and valleys. Her belly grumbled although, luckily, she had managed to kill a large mountain goat and had eaten well enough. Hunt would be far to loose a definition of what occurred. She had stampeded a group of them with yelling near a cliff and one fell off. It had been a messy job cleaning the folded and floppy remains but she had not starved. Now the goat was gone and the valley below was, at least, green which meant small game. "Yes, onward Veshki, to a battle royal with bunnies, probably." she was relieved again to be alone so that now would witness her horribly decayed survival skills. Her odds were on the bunnies.
