I find that a good portion of my fat loss came when I picked UP the weights :tongue:

my problem now is that my muscle weights too much and if I continue to lift heavy my weight will go back up.

so.... this may seem kinda lame... but I didn't realize that I didn't post a new challenge and that it's already thursday... 

 

so I propose that the challenge that I post today last until 17 May... and I put a reminder in my phone :) when I don't have to be anywhere it doesn't occur to me what day it is  :pirate:

 

 

 

TRAPPED!

 

You were sitting on the edge of the river relaxing after you got across. The sound of rustling came from out of nowhere and thinking the worst your first instinct was to climb the tree you were leaning against. For some reason you left all your gear (and weapons) out of reach so your only option was to run!

 

It isn't long before a pack of zombies comes into the clearing. They seem to be gathering. From what you know about zombies they should continue moving, your only option is to wait. 

 

 

While we wait... let's work on defining your level 50. Do you have a clear cut direction of where you want to go? how about goals for the next challenge? We are in the 4th week of this challenge do you have an idea how your next challenge will take you towards your level 50? How about THIS challenge? Is it going well? What can we keep for the next challenge? What can we change? If it's not going well is it because you need different goals or because you need more accountibility?

I've been thinking a lot lately about fitness goals, and realizing I have no clue what I want to do! This is a great weekly! thank you!

 

After realizing I was done with OCR's I feel like i've been wandering... time to cut it out and get things done!

My Level 50 is far more ambiguous than that of others' around these parts.  That's part of the reason I haven't committed to completing a Level 50 thread yet.  Unlike most MMORPGs the game of my life is more about the leveling process than the end game, and even the end game is an open-ended sandbox.  To quote Reebok here, my Level 50 is to "Be More Human," and excel at any thing I put my mind to.  I want to run adventure races, continue to grow and adapt through Crossfit, develop my strength for Olympic lifting, and have the fitness foundation appropriate to pick up any sport I would like to try out and know that it won't be my level of conditioning holding me back.  Every further completed Challenge continues to develop that same state of well-roundedness. 

 

I would like to take some MMA training in the distant future but not until long after I'm satisfied with my cardio endurance.

 

To take a page from the World of Warcraft book, there is so much to do at Level 50 that I can spend my time doing whatever I want to do.  Me against the world, me against others, or... I can just go fishing if I want to.

Why are you done with the ocrs?

hmmmm... sent by magic.... or fairies.... or small woodland creatures maybe? how does this thing work?

 

 

The short of it is, during the last race I realized, I really didn't enjoy it anymore.

 

Since Friday my knee has been really sore from all the squats at crossfit lately, and started clicking and crunching some too. I love lifting, but I dont want to do damage so time to explore!

 

I guess (for now) my lvl 50 goal is I want to be healthy, and I want to be able to do whatever I want. I want to be mentally and physically strong and resilient. I want to see myself as others see me. I want to be involved in art in some form. I want to learn a Martial Art

 

I'm thinking this next challenge is going to be an "explore all the things" challenge for me. Try a bunch of different classes at the gym (Yoga, TRX, Zumba etc), give Run!Zombies a real try, Maybe try out some different Dojo's ( i loved the one I was going to just schedule makes it hard), different types of belly dance (or at least some different teachers/studios), More biking too! might be investing in a tandem next year so I want to do more than just our "if we happen to be in town" sunday rides.  I want to find something active that I enjoy, that I want to do, not that I drag myself to do because it's "what i should do" 

 

Food is going to be a big thing the next few challenges too, tired of the yo-yo of eating great, then binging on food I know I dont need.

Lots of good motivation and Level 50 ideas here.  It sounds like a common Ranger trait here is establishing that foundation of function fitness so we can take what we have developed and learned and apply it to our normal lives to enjoy new experiences.  That seems to suit the fantasy ranger's theme of exploration and adaptability.

I haven't really thought about level 50 yet... I suppose I agree with what most everyone is saying, though - I'd like to be fit enough that I can do whatever activity I want and not have to worry about keeping up or hurting myself. I've always been kind of timid and sedentary (and, lately, fragile because of it), and getting in shape for me is all about becoming a better Me and taking care of this body I've been given.

So... that's in the long run somewhere... not necessarily level 50 exactly, but far out enough that that's as good an approximation as any. :)

How about THIS challenge? Is it going well? yes!

What can we keep for the next challenge? early bed goal, food goals, cardio probably because I won't do it otherwise >.>

What can we change? made some things into habits so they don't need to be goals anymore. need new goals to replace them

If it's not going well is it because you need different goals or because you need more accountibility? Need better planning re: food - take into account things like long weekends (long weekend around here = cottage time = beer and junk food time..)

 

I feel like I need to sit down with a pen and paper and figure out what my level 50 looks like. Right now I've got this ambiguous goal of be fitter, be stronger, be faster, etc., but I don't have any solid goals beyond that. I need to decide what fitter and stronger and faster look like. And I need to figure out my life goals, and how to achieve them as well. Definitely food for thought.

this is the last week of the challenge!!

 

Guys! The zombie hoard has finally moved on enough that you feel comfortable coming out of the trees. One of you finds a note on the grass.

 

I saw maps in the war room. They are heading for the caves. They have them all mapped out and have been gathering supplies. I saw a small tunnel on one of the maps that looks like it leads to where they intend to hide me. Please come soon.

1) move rocks

 

actual rocks... heavy weights... you name it... if you move it it counts

 

2) search for another way (miles)

 

get some miles in.... find a way around to another entrance... I don't care HOW you get miles.... walk crawl hop swim kayak skateboard whatever.... find my boy

I traveled over 10 miles yesterday between workout and work. Was logging all day at work so moving "rocks" ( trees/rocks/old farm equipment/buckets of water) I'd say I got some stuff done here

I live with my level 50. My boyfriend's level of functional fitness is amazing to me. He's the sort who can spend all day hauling chainsaws and gear up a tree using spurs and a flip line, engaging every muscle in his body, then suggest spending the evening aggressively mtn biking or running sub-8 miles on hills or bouldering. My goal is to be able to push him, instead of him always waiting up for me. I have surprised myself with my progress in that direction during this challenge. I've maintained my base level training (CrossFit 3x/wk) while cross training (just having fun!) outside, largely due to positive influence from my guy. 

 

The next challenge... I just need to survive! It'll kick off with throwing a bachelorette party, 2 weeks of travel, my sister's wedding, a holiday weekend, and ends with a half marathon. I think I'm going to just focus on getting all the things done. Check list, cross 'em off as they get done. 

 

Also, I think I need to modify my goals. I'm a chronic multi-tasker but can really only focus on one thing at a time when I'm learning. Anyone who's watched me learn to bike/ski/oly lift/do math can see that if an instructor asks me to learn 2 things, I don't learn anything. Baby steps!! So: Embrace the things that have become automatic( CF, food tracking, etc) and only add 1 thing per challenge. 

 

 

Moving/Lifting - we went on an evening longboarding excursion last night! fun stuff! I'll walk or bike to Toastmasters today. Oooh, and there were cleans in the WOD yesterday!

Rurik.... you move one last boulder and a cave opens in the tunnel beyond where you are standing. ... you see zombie sitting there with his notebook writing quietly. ... he looks up and smiles "good you're here let's go to my mom I've been taking notes all this time and i know their plans" ands he starts walking out the tunnel

For my part relaxation involves either the epitome of laziness spent on my couch in front of video games with my feline companion or outside walking amongst the trees and wild things.

Zombie days he's still REALLY hungry and needs a few more days of just eating before he's ready to talk about the zombies. So far he's told me that their so much smarter than we'd think and it's going to take some planning to defeat them. We should take a few days and make sure that our challenges are well laid out so we've got energy to go look for them and fight them. It looks like it's going to be an epic battle
