New nerd living deep in the heart of Texas

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone.

I'm a 26 year-old male living deep in the heart of Texas aka AUSTIN.

Depending on who you ask or whether you look at my drivers license I'm about 5' 7" and currently weighing in at 166 lbs.

I'm going through an interesting time in life that I like to call my quarterlife crisis.

Things like getting blackout drunk have become less appealing to me as I put more and more focus into my business, relationships and physical fitness.

Maybe that's just growing up... but for the sake of this forum post allow me to be a bit more dramatic :)

My quarterlife crisis has lead me to join a few more accountability groups like this to help myself and others push towards our goals of world domination.

Fitness goals:

I like deadlifts, low reps and no cardio.

My target PRs for this year are a 500 lb deadlift, 315 bench, and ??? squat.

I haven't ever maxed at squats with proper form so I'm not sure where I'm going there.

Ideally this will happy at ~ 159 lbs. I'm trying to cut weight now which means I spend 10 minutes doing cardio and drink less beer at night.

Powerlifting???:

I'm going to enter an amateur powerlifting contest by the end of the year. I like the idea that it's a total mental challenge, just me competing against the weights.

I've never trained to be a powerlifter or anything like that so I'm pumped to learn from those active in this forum.

My rant about video games:

The games that took the most amount of my life are: Age of Empires, Age of Empires II, Starcraft, Diablo II, Counter-Strike 1.6, World of Warcraft (got to level 60 and quit), CoD Modern Warfare, Skyrim and NHL 2009 - on.

I recently got an XBOX ONE and have since played / own: Diablo 3, CoD AW, Shadows of Mordor, NHL15, Assasin's Creed.

NHL15 is the only game I really like to play with friends, the rest of them are kind of boring to me especially Assasin's Creed and Mordor. So repetitive...

I kind of want to download Skyrim on XBOX One, because I like questing and trying to climb up all of the mountains.

I also want to try League of Legends one day, but am scared.

Howdy, Ben!

If you're cutting, that definitely means less beer. Sounds like you know what you're doing with weightlifting, though. :) Good luck with the competition!

I love Skyrim, which I play on xBox 360, but my spouse has it on PC, and all the mods are AMAZING. (Especially the one that lets you summon your horse. I don't even know how many horses I've lost in that game.) If you have a computer that can handle it, it might be worth doing that instead.

I recently moved to Austin too. There's a Facebook group you can join (https://www.facebook.com/groups/638181146259274/?ref=br_tf). I think Stacy is planning meetups this year. And yes, that is growing up. That is exactly growing up. And it keeps happening as you get older. I'm 30 now and I find myself caring about not just my health, but things like 401ks. It gets worse when you have kids.

Best multiplayer games in my opinion are fighting games or side scrolling shooters like Metal Slug. But that's just me - never really a sports guy.
