Gainsdalf the Whey
Wow, you ladies have some tiny little weight classes. Yay for being old!! I don't care about doing well at this point. I just wanna play. The NJ State Open is on Aug 1 in New Brunswick. I assume "Open" means you don't have to qualify to get in, yes? Open means open to all. It's what everyone who doesn't fit master's or teen age requirements lifts in. You do need to qualify. Rooks
I'd just like to add that even if I qualify for Nationals, I'm not sure I'd be able to get out to PA for the event yet. That's still very much up in the air. Plus I actually have to QUALIFY! Quote Link to comment

SpecialSundae
Clearly there are at least two of us Nerds going to the GBPF British Women's Classic. Are there any other Nerds going? Not sure of the timetables yet, but it's likely to be up to 63kg on the Saturday and 72kg upwards on the Sunday. Any takers (or any guys going to the Men's Classic or Men's Junior Classic)? Worth coming out to play in a sanctioned meet at some point, we only bite if you're really nice. My goal for next year is to get to Nationals, so I'll definitely be coming to play in a few sanctioned meets. But twice now (April '14 and Feb '15) I've had my training go to pot after a meet, so my focus for the rest of this year is to get 6 months of solid training in. I figure a 540kg total by year end should be achievable, with my current best in a meet being 470kg (I've added 10kg to my best in-meet squat since), which then gives me the option of adding another 30kg in the first half of next year in order to qualify for Nationals in the 105 class, or just dropping a few kg of body fat to go in the 93 class Quote Level 0 WarriorAmateur Powerlifter, Cricket nerd, Geek.Battle logCurrent 6 week challenge Link to comment

Silverbolt
Why did your training go to pot after the meets? The one last year was a real hit to my confidence, I came away 2/9 on that one having been super confident in the buildup, and being too aggressive with my openers on squat & bench, and many of my lifting "friends" were pretty condescending about it, which ultimately led to me losing my enthusiasm for it, and it taking quite a while to get going again. Occasional sessions, starting programs and falling off the wagon after a week or 2, things like that. I went back for another meet in November and did fairly well. This year was very different. I had almost the perfect meet in February, 9/9 and felt good about all the lifts, but shortly afterwards I developed a ganglion on my wrist, which made both working and lifting painful. I got it removed, but inflammation in my wrist as a result then led to a couple of weeks off work to rest it, then another meet in April, and just everything had been very stop-start until recently, when I decided to get back on 531, as that's where I'd had good results running up to the February meet. Gainsdalf the Whey
Yeah, sign up now if it's not already closed. All the July-August meets up that area were full already when I was looking a few months back. The only reason I got into mine was because they were late announcing it and the state chair told me about it when I e-mailed him about my plight of not being able to find anything.
