[4/6-4/19] LoEN hosts a Walk-a-thon (26 miles in 2 weeks!)

I took a running/walking route with my girlfriend around my neighborhood after work yesterday. Google Maps said the distance was 3.7 miles. That puts me at 88% done.

 

It was terrible, though. I'm not a superb runner, but I was struggling at maybe 5 mph like I'd normally struggle at 8. I felt so weak I couldn't go on! Just ... had to switch to walking. I think i figured it out though. If I'm dramatically weaker than I normally am, and am expending much more energy than I was before, I'm both over-training and under-eating. No glycogen left for exercise, and my muscles haven't been recovering. I'm still only eating 1760 calories a day, and the exhaustion just never lifts.

 

I'm looking forward to finishing this little challenge so I can go back to feeling healthy and mobile. Not like I've been feeling the last week.

Do you know how much your daily deficit is on average (maintenance + exercise calories - your 1760 food calores)? 

 

And sorry, no idea on the TV show :/

I've got a 20% deficit, which means my maintenance is about 2200 calories. But ... if I'm burning an additional 200-400 calories a day through an abundance of cardio, that turns into a 30% deficit. Yikes. No wonder my energy feels zapped.

It's up to you, but I'd stick with the 1760 on rest days (if you have any), but bump it up to closer to 2000 on days your burning that extra 200-400 via exercise of some form.  Or, since you've already been at it for a number of months and have lost a significant amount of weight, maybe eat at maintenance for a few weeks to give yourself a mental and physical break from dieting.

Day 13: 6.36 miles - went for a walk + grocery shopping + trip to IKEA to check out some desks.  My boyfriend became enamored with a stand-up desk.  Only like $500 (sarcasm on the "only").  *sigh*, we can't ever seem to come close to our budget.

3.26 miles tonight, puts me in at 26.23 miles total!

Now I'm going to crawl into a hole and die...

Yay, Milo!!!  I knew you could do it!

 

 

Thanks for hosting this challenge, Jenn!  It really pushed me to get more walking in the past two weeks.  Now I just have to keep it up despite the weather taking a definite turn for the worse this week :/

Congratulations to everyone who crossed the finish line! Lightning! Marvel! Hollies! Presea! The mileage some of you guys put in was nuts.

Nottingham and Jenn, just remember that you can reach your goals next time. And you traveled further than you would have if you didn't start the challenge. That's still something to celebrate.
