Tinessael
Hey!After a long pause of Nerdfitness challenges, I am back! And first time in Rangers, before I used to hang around adventurers and scouts...but since I never can choose between strength and endurance training, it maybe that I may be right here, to train in ranks of Rangers... So, I am 23 years old, weigh 152 pounds at 5"2, and Bodyfat of around 36%. My goal is to...have it all, but to reach a better version of myself - who is stronger, faster and hopefully as a result of that leaner. I sort of want to have it all, yesterday, and that is my largest problem - I already had a exhaustion fracture in my foot for example.I've joined the nerdfitness academy and am learning to go slow. Fitness goal 1: Sign up, pay and attend a barbell weightlifting class. I am terrified and in my horror dreams I will be the only one there under 6 foot und under 200 lbs and the only female and the only with bodyfat percentage > 10. But I will still go. I will try to get a place in archery class - something I've been wanting to do the entire 5 years I am at this university, and now during my last semester, i have to do it. But it only has 8 spots, so it is really difficult to get a place. Sign up for a climbing course - I am also terrified and keep thinking I am too weak to do it, but I will sign up for a course that starts on 10th of June so it will sort of be a goal to fit up until then. And attend a ballet course. This all will give me 5 points. Fitness goal 2: Do generally twice a week strength training and twice a week endurance training (running, swimming, hiking uphill, bicycling) and yoga on rest days. I have a run on May the 3rd (Wings for Life), I am aiming for 10K but since I haven't been training much, it might just stay at around 6-7K. So my perfect plan would be: Monday: YogaTuesday: Barbell & Archery classes. Wednesday: YogaThursday: BalletFriday: Endurance trainingSaturday: Bodyweight training. Sunday: Endurance trainingI will get a point for each day I filled my plan. 36 points= 100%, for 2 Points to Strength and 1 to Stamina and 1 to Dexterity. Diet goal: I need to change my mindset and treat my diet goal with respect it deserves. I am a paleo fan and am pretty good at having protein& veggies at each meal and am slowly reducing my dairy intake... but I can't say no to cake, chocolate, sweets, tortilla wraps and chips AND usually eat it in not so small amount. So, I will get a point for each day I didn't have any of them. To reduce my cravings I have upped my calories to 1750 and am allowing myself as much fruit as I want. Similary to fitness goal 2, this will give me 5 points, all of them to Constitution. Life goal: I am writing my thesis right now, so my goal is to write every day something new down. At least a word. 1 Point to Wisdom if I pull it through successfully. “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.†― J.R.R. Salivanth
I saw that Wings for Life run. It sounds fun; too bad the nearest one to me is about a 12-hour drive I struggle with wanting to have everything yesterday as well. I probably do too much as it is, but at least I can avoid adding any more strength/cardio work in.The Rangers seem good for you, since you don't have any particular focus between strength and endurance. And you do both weights and bodyweight exercise; you're definitely a jack of all trades! Quote Link to comment
Noname123
The have everything yesterday...yep, I think that's human nature. Having both endurance and strength goals I think you'll fit right in here, we do a little bit of everything. Also SUPER jealous of Archery, I totally would LOVE to learn!! Virago
Don't be nervous about the weightlifting class!! Barbells are what made me realize I didn't have to be good at sports to enjoy being active. I LOVE lifting. And I'm 5'3" for what it's worth. So even if you are the only one in your class under 6', go out there and represent for all of the other lady lifters out there Also, good luck with your thesis. What are you writing it on? Tinessael
hey, yay, people in my thread! Salivanth that's a shame! it is about an hour of trainride from me, and I took part last time and really liked the atmosphere. (And the free red bull..won't lie about it ^^) I have my phases where I give everything, and then don'd do anything for weeks, and I am just trying to balance it out, because I usually lose all of the progress I've done. Slates I just really hope I will get a place. The course only has 8 places and until now has been booked in a couple of hours, but the online registration is early on Sunday and I plan to be there from the start.Dark raider - I love archery... I have a wooden bow and some arrows at my parents' and practiced on my own, but it's been years. Snowfox, I will get out there and do my best ^^. I think I will like it...I think actually that crossfit is something that is perfect for me, but I can't allow it financially to sign up in the box here. No way. My thesis is on lung cell physiology! The experiments are ready, and now I "just" have to write it all together, it's a bit difficult with school classes at the same time. Separatist, I...did needed to hear that. Since I probably can't even lift the bar right now. So, I slowly started with the schedule I posted (with some changes due to the weather ^^). My thesis has 4791 words and is beginning to look sciency and stuff. ^^ Food is still a challenge...there is definitely the effect of "eating everything while I still can" until Monday, and I just am trying to get over that mentality but it is difficult. 1 Quote A Hobbit who wants to become an Elf - Scout - Level 3STR: 2,75 | DEX: 4 | CON: 5,5 | STA: 2,5 | WIS: 3 | CHA: 2,75The journey of Tinessael 1The journey of Tinessael 2Tinessael's Challenge (ongoing) Link to comment

It's okay if you can't lift the bar yet - I couldn't either when I started. I still consider myself a beginner, but I can deadlift more than I weigh and squat my own weight now, thanks to both garage and box crossfit workouts. Hang in there - weightlifting, more than anything, makes me feel fierce. You'll get there too! This, I relate to completely. I actually do most of my CrossFit workouts on my own, often at home. Haha it's all good, but I imagine my lifts are somewhat less impressive now Funny you should say that, I'm about to go live in a tent in the desert, but only for a little over a week. I like to go heavy on deadlifts (5x1, 5x3, or 5x5) once a week. I basically go as heavy as I can without failing. I also might do a WOD involving lighter deadlifts at higher reps during that week as well. Then I'll also have other movements that work the same muscle groups in different ways. For deadlift, you're obviously looking at a great deal of posterior chain, so a lot of hamstrings and lower back. Olympic lifts, squats, and even sprints and hip extensions work those (though for deadlift performance, oly lifting is going to have a greater benefit than 100m repeats). I use the same principles for my other power lifts as well.Tinessael, hope I'm not hijacking your thread 2 Quote Long Term Goals: Spoiler 200# 245# Snatch 300# Clean and Jerk 380# 465# Back Squat 450# 500# Deadlift Planche Human Flag Front Lever 285# Log Clean and Press 1k Row under 3:20 Back Flip Bodyweight Turkish Get-up For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for the present life and the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:8 Never compromise. I mean this is harder that getting tickets for Wacken -.- But I did get the climbing course and the barbell class. And I got my sleep rhytmus set for tomorrow - I had two weeks off from classes and got into a rhythm of going to bed at 2 and waking at 11 ^^ And right now I am just trying to stay awake with green tea and music because it is too early for me. In other news, my passion planner finally came (sent it to my parents because I was travelling, my mum misspelled my address, so after four weeks in the post it got send back to her..etc. But now I have it and I am filling it out right now! Tinessael
Soooo...*drumroll* *squeeeeeeee* First, I went to archery class and I really loved it. The first time we had almost only theory. We are a small group of 8 people, so we had a introduction, and then we learned what a recurved bow is, what parts it has, then we spent a while trying to assembly it and finding all the protection stuff and safety so we only got to shoot three arrows at the end but it is really exciting and well taught. Mental note to self: Do not wear yoga pants to archery - because we have to hang the quiver over the pants, and well...my yoga pants don't hold it under it all that well ^^ I almost lost them a couple of times. And then and then and then and then...I went to the barbell class and it was so awesome and I loved it so so so much! There were lots of women (40%?), most of them petite, but returners, so they rocked everything. The coach is great and it is a great atmosphere. We practised with plastic sticks and then with the bar (there was also the 7 kg bar, which I used) for squats, presses, deadlifts and clean-and-jerks. For deadlifts I also could put 5 kg on the bar, so I did them with 12 kg. And I found it so awesome, I had so much fun and am still ( as you may have noticed) slightly hyper. Totally going back!
