Well done on blasting through your goals, all of those achievements since the beginning of the year and the lessons learned in this challenge. It's been a pleasure to have made you acquaintance and although I'm sad to see you graduate from the Adventurers, it's great that you've found your niche in the fitness world now and I still plan to stalk you for your epic gainz.

Yeah, that was the first post I saw this morning, and I had to stifle a belly laugh.  Well played, Scotty.

He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of

you but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Hey all, thought I'd give an interim update:

First off, thanks for all of the compliments.  I feel fantastic and I love my new shirt!

Vacation to this point has gone super smoothly.  Some of my eating has been a bit, um, enthusiastic ;) but nothing has gone off the rails.  Some days were high and some were low--all were good!  I cooked up a storm at the MIL's house and I gotta say, I was in the zone.  Everything came out delicious and on-time (that's a first!) and was nutritious to boot.  Some of my preparations:

- Rosemary-smoked chicken thighs with pan-braised Brussel sprouts and mashed red potatoes

- Caldillo (New Mexican green-chile stew with pork and potatoes)

- Cheeseburger wraps

- Coq au vin over noodles made from spiralized crook-neck squash

When we ate out (which was rare) I was absolutely able to stick to my disciplines--I even ate only one Krispy Kreme donut, and that was after the counter guy threw in a free dozen because it was closing time.  I put the rest on top of the fridge and let the kids and in-laws slow play them for the next couple of days.

I managed to fit in three separate workouts while in Albuquerque.  First was a good BBWW circuit and then a 2-mile run with the dogs.  Then I sneaked off to the Air Force base gym and put in a heavy session with free weights (I'm not saying I overdid it, but it was hard to move for a couple of days).  Finally, I escorted MrsFeelgood on a four-mile hike through the foothills of the Sandia Mountains.  We followed established trails for most of it, but we got a little more adventurous around Three-Gun Spring.  It felt great to be outdoors and moving.  I haven't felt that in-shape since I was in the military--I could've gone ten miles easy.  The Mrs is still coming along with her fitness, but she loved it (hiking is Her Thing).

Even though I wasn't on a strict bedtime, I slept fairly well and only stayed up super late once.  So far I've been pleased with my choices.  It looked at first like I might just be losing my grip on discipline, but after the weekend I was able to pull everything back together.  We got out clothes shopping and I picked up a pair of jeans in a size 32 because they almost fit when I tried them on!  How fantastic is that?  I haven't worn a 32 since 1997--long before I separated from active duty.

Now we're in San Diego (my hometown) getting geared up for my sister's wedding, and even though today's road eats were all fast-food I still came in under 1900 calories and got plenty of balanced nutrition.  Naturally my very first stop in CA was at In n Out, where I enjoyed a 3x3 w/ grilled onions protein-style (lettuce instead of a bun).  I also snagged all the lettuce and tomatoes out of my kids' burgers and made a not-so-little side salad.  I may or may not have sampled my son's fries three times, though. :D

In the morning I'll knock out a nice bodyweight workout at the house.  It's going to be another good week. B)
