I took photos last week. I'm trying to force myself to publish them in six weeks, along with new ones. It's hard though, isn't it!

I like this idea. It might make me more brave to post before photos if its at the same time as after photos hmmm...

Uweeeee new challenge is almost here!

Right now I'm settling in for the final writeup of my lifting log... grouping all of my auxiliary lifts into different days.  I'll post my finished work here on Day 1.  A little nervous about protein goals but I think I at least have a solid start on things, just need to research snacks a little more and I should be good.

Not sure how you feel about protein bars, but I'm absolutely hooked on Quest bars. 

 

Esp. if I'm craving something sweet after dinner, 160-190 calories for flavors like brownie, choc chunk, white choc. raspberry, cookies and cream, choc. peanutbutter and strawberry cheesecake with 20g of protein isn't bad w/around 5g of fat, around 20g of fiber and 25 grams of carbs (a lot of them say only 3/5 net carbs. I don't understand the difference between straight carbs and net carbs though)

I always love making paleo pancakes with exta protein powder if I want something sweet with a lot of protein.  Top if off with almond butter and yum :D

Not sure how you feel about protein bars, but I'm absolutely hooked on Quest bars.

Wow that's a chunk of protein! Right now I've been bringing the Luna protein bars to the gym with me on lifting days... they are usually like 12-14. I like them but I'm sure they're more sugary than others. :( My gym actually sells Quest bars in a vending machine up front, I'm gonna try one!

My right side is always historically stronger than my left, so I'm not surprised at the difference... plus boots always fit my left better than my right ^_^;

Uggghhh the photos took a lot of gumption.  But I think I needed to see them, especially the ones from the back. I've made great progress and feel fit and fantastic in clothes, but the photos make me really want to up the ante and work harder...

Oh my gosh don't get me started on quest bars. I freaking love quest bars.

Also, net carbs are simply the amount total carbs minus the fiber. 

Fiber is a form of carbohydrate that isn't broken down by the body, so it isn't utilized as glucose (because it isn't digested), and therefore doesn't impact your blood sugar.

 

So when you quest bar has 25g of carbs and 22g of fiber, it only leaves 3 grams of digestible carbs (sugar/starches). Makes sense?

(Sorry I'm a total nerd about this kind of stuff :P)

DAY -01

 

IT IS ALMOST CHALLENGE TIME

I am ridiculously prepared.

 

I re-wrote my gym notebook yesterday with days for 1. Legs, 2. Chest & Back, and 3. Shoulders & Arms.

 

I just returned from the grocery store with loads of the following:

 

Chicken breast

Eggs for hard boiling

Cottage cheese

Greek yogurt (I am gently going to try to re-introduce this to my diet and see how my body feels)

Protein bars (I picked up a Quest bar to try!!  It's white chocolate raspberry, I think?  YUM)

TOFU (for dinner one night)

 

Among other exciting things.  

 

I AM SO PREPARED!  See you tomorrow rebels!!!

Awesome- I'm wondering for macros if I count the 25 or 3? Although I guess it already takes fiber into account too so hitting my fiber and carb intake kind of play off each other.

And that looks like my weekly shopping list. Throw in some bananas for preworkout carbs and that's pretty much my entire diet with green beans/mushrooms/peppers added in.

A word of caution about tofu as a major source of protein in the diet, soy protein isn't the best for building muscle due to the type of protein in its makeup and can actually work against you there, I have read. Check it out for yourself and see if you don't agree. I'd hate to see it sabotage you. 

 

Brave of you to experiment and see what works for your protein sources, hope the yogurt and eggs agree with you.

I like tofu as a once in a while thing, so I figured I'd throw it into this week's rotation. :) (Better than chicken nuggets, right?? Heheh) I'm still kind of experimenting with cooking it too... we will see how this goes. I was unaware 9f the difference in makeup though, I am glad I know now!!!
