I have a backpack from Osprey - it's a bit bigger than what you'd want, as it's for travel, but they've got some smaller ones (here and here) that might suit - this one is 16" tall. Some of the ones on the second page I linked are actually listed as being suitable for adventure racing. For reference, I'm 5'3" and my backpack has a great fit.

@Maegs: That Tempest 9 looks like just the size I need - I wonder if it would hold up to 2 bricks + a 10-pound weight for 6 hours, though. 

 

I really like the weight of the Tempest, too - all that ballistic stuff weighs a freaking ton. A MOLLE style strap system inside would be awesome to prevent my bricks from bopping around. 

 

So many logistical craps to think of!

Week 2 Day 3

 

Workout 

 

I made myself do my 5k. I wasn't fast, but I PR'd in distance.

 

Time: 40:46

Avg Pace: 13:07

 

But in that, I ran 1.5 miles straight at a 5.0 (around 12 minute) pace, and then did 3 0.25 mile run splits at 5.0, with the last 0.25 miles at 6.2 (more my "natural" pace - my body seems to think a 10-minute mile is "running").

Breakfast: Raw mixed nuts + green seedless grapes + more nuts because I was starving to death + coffee with cashew milk

^forgot to add: Fuck my stomach. The dog selfie was taken riiiiight before my post-workout nausea kicked in. I rested a minute and then limped my unhappy ass to the kitchen to make dinner. Luckily, the hubbs got called away last night, so I didn't have to put forth the effort to make something he'd like.

Thanks! Picking 9 selfies, only 9 selfies, and 9 non fat face selfies, was freaking hard. We take a lot of vacation selfies. 

 

 

My stomach needs to get back in line. I've been alternately starving and nauseous all this week, was varying degrees of hungry/carsick during vacation, and think I was hitting a fairly nauseous patch pre-vacation. 

 

I don't know wtf is going on, but it needs to stop. I've always been prone to nausea (at least as a teenager & adult), and it's tiresome. 

 

I'm doing yoga tonight anyways, even if it kicks up again. (thus far this afternoon, I'm more hungry than anything). Speaking of, I finished lunch 45 minutes ago, just had a snack, and am hungry again. Vacations really throw off my game.

Week 2 Day 4

Yoga day. My balance was terrible, and I killed my thigh trying to get into wheel. But, my hip wasn't so bad during class - especially seeing as I did a 5k the day before. (today, friday, I feel like an old person - my back is tired/lightly hurts, my calves are tight, my hips are tight, and my thigh still twinges). 

 

I need to not skip yoga days any more.

Breakfast: I FINALLY HAD A SMOOTHIE + coffee with cashew milk

Lunch: More of that salad from yesterday + rotisserie chicken

Yes, (hopefully) yes, it is. 

 

Sidebar: I bought the wrong cashew milk and I kind of hate it. Apparently, the "original" flavor has cane sugar in it and it's gross. I guess I was getting an unsweetened version - that was waaaay better. This crap is making my mouth gross.

If nothing else, at least one of the people there I ended up talking to for a long while and could see myself talking to further.

Yes! I think the almond milk in the coffee I bought this morning also had sugar in it - my mouth feels icky again. Booooooooooo convenience sugar. 

 

In other news: I've made up my own damn program and am kind of looking forward to starting that tonight. I can't decide the duration, but I think I need to stick to it at least through the rest of this challenge ....

Week 3 Day 1

 

Workout

 

I started that pull-up program I posted yesterday and threw in a bit extra. 

 

Flex hang: 4x4 10 secs -- I did 4 rounds of 2 hangs per side (pull-up/chin-up) per rep and had to balance on my tippy toes

Negatives: 4x4 5 secs -- I did 4 rounds of 2 negatives per side (pull-up/chin-up) per rep and averaged 3 seconds per negative

Lat pull down: 3x8-12 @ 75lbs. -- I did 3 rounds of 66lbs. and 6 reps 

 

And I added:

2 rounds of a good hip stretching yoga sequence

2 rounds of 10 russian twists on a ball with an 8-lb. medicine ball

2 rounds of 10 sit-ups on the ball with an 8-lb. medicine ball held overhead

3 rounds of 10 reverse sit-ups on the hangy machine 

 

Metrics

 

Breakfast: Smoothie with hemp protein + coffee with almond milk

Lunch: Seared grape & bacon salad

Snack: 1/4 cup Kahuna crunch trail mix

Snack: The last of my salt & vinegar pork rinds (less than half an ounce)

If you do HabitRPG let me know.  There are some tricks and stuff that you need an active Party to make it really fun and get the accountability with others that is really motivational.  I'm in a small group but we are almost always doing Quests (and if you miss out on your daily habits it hurts everyone in the Quest!)  Overall I've enjoyed playing with it!

MELODRAMATIC WHINE ABOUT SUGAR AND HOW ITS RUINING MY LIFE 

 

My DH brought me home unsweetened almond milk. I can totally get rid of the last quarter of the Kahuna Crunch trail mix I have - it won't actually kill me to throw food out. 

 

I need to start a Whole5 or something tomorrow - this over-sugared feeling I've been having for the past 3 days is icky. 

 

And I'm puffy.

You make it what you want (that quote is pretty silly, so ignore!)  There are three types of tasks Habits (you can do them anytime, as many times a day as needed), Dailies (task you do every day or on certain days of the week) and To-Dos (bigger one time type of activities)  I have simple things in the Habits like drink 8 oz of water, one flight of stairs or hug a kiddo.  Dailies include my weekly workout schedule (T, Th and Sat) and getting to sleep by 11pm.  To-Dos are those large projects that I really need to do like clean my craft space or finish making that table runner.   I get experience points, gold and magic mana for the tasks as well as other random gifts.    I find that I look at it 3-4 times a day and log what I have done in clumps!
