I forgot my breakfast at home.   :moody:

 

However, I really want to get lunch at the deli at work.  They have a honey chipotle chicken that's new.  It sounds good.  They also have curly fries.  I love curly fries.  

 

So, I logged my anticipated food for the day and I can bump my afternoon snack to breakfast and hopefully skip an afternoon snack since lunch will be larger than normal.  And I am going for a walk this evening.  If I were doing something more strenuous I would be more inclined to include an afternoon snack but I think I can make it.  I do have just under 150 calories to play with even. . .

I am so ready to start the week.  I decided to jump on the batch cooking gravy train.   I've cooked and packaged scrambled eggs with cheese and turkey sausage for breakfasts and cooked honey teriyaki grilled chicken, barbeque chicken, and some turkey burgers for dinners with a huge batch of roasted veggies.  

 

And 5K training started early.  Week 1 mission 1 completed on Saturday.

 

Now I just have to get up on time tomorrow for a good start.

You can batch cook scrambled eggs? I'm intrigued!

 

Absolutely.  I make a big batch (this time I used 1/2 pound of turkey sausage, then 4 whole eggs and 8 egg whites, 1 oz cheese).  I browned the sausage, whisked the eggs and added to the pan, then added the cheese right at the end.  I divided this up in 4 containers and topped with a wee bit more of cheese.  It reheats really well.  Just make sure and eat it the same week that you make it.  I wouldn't let them sit too long.  

 

They work great for me because I just can't bring myself to eat breakfast before work.  I haven't been awake long enough yet.  I just grab it and go and reheat at work.

good work on the batch cooking, I think you will find it really helps!

 

I think so too.  I find it oddly exciting to have all my food ready to go for the whole week.  I even batch prepared after school snacks for the kids to ensure they are grabbing healthy snacks in the right proportions.

I entered all my prepared meals for today into MFP.  Everything fits together quite well.  

 

Calorie goal: 1390

Actual calories: 1313

A little over on fat (must be due to all the cheese)

Protein is at 99 grams.  Not at my goal but higher than my average.  

and carbs are at 90 which is under the goal.  

 

I'm not concerned about the additional fat.  I recently made a change in the goals to increase carbs a bit to be more realistic and I had to reduce fat.  But I preferred the goals I had before but I was having a hard time sticking to them.  

 

Now I just have to stick to the food I've prepared.   :playful:

Ugh.  Somewhere I got sidetracked.  For my first challenge I focused a lot on diet choices.  I found something that worked and I ate the same thing for dinner for at least a whole challenge, if not more.  I was successful with my goals and I didn't really get bored.  My family got bored.  Eventually, I started trying new things and rotating them into the regular menu rotation.  I used MFP religiously during that process to keep on track.  A lot of things didn't work but I a lot did.  Now I am not using MFP very often.  I am using some sort of gut feeling about where I am at and following general rules - less grains, grains earlier in the day rather than later, less processed, more veggies - but I now realize that I am just not ready to follow that gut feeling.  It does me wrong.  

 

 

I totally get this.  It was something I worked on for my last/first challenge and this time around I am taking the MFP away and hoping I have learned enough to make the right choices without the help of my pretty pie charts.  I'm close enough to my final goal weight that I felt ok with giving it a shot.  Of course, if the scale starts to creep I may have to make adjustments like tracking a couple of days a week to keep me honest.

That sounds like a great idea....  I do hate cleaning muffin tins though.  But cute little scrambled egg muffins with some cupcake liners sounds perfectly adorable.  :panda:

Day 1: Monday

 

Zombies Run: no run today, off day  1/3

Stay Alert: up on time but super tired.  I think I was in the middle of a dream cycle.

Forage for Food: 1319 calories (1390 goal). macros good.  105g protein!

 

Maintain

Hydration: 24 oz short

Sleep: about 15 minutes late to bed

Mobility: none, off day

Strength: off day

 

Mondays are always a little rough because I work all day at my regular job and then teach a 2-1/2 hour class in the evening.  There is no time in between for any fitness activity and I'm totally burnt out at the end of the day.  I just played Civ on the XBox when I got home.  But that's worked into my schedule so all is well.  I stayed under calories on food and was able to increase protein to new levels.  Score.

Dont have to clean muffin tins, use cupcake papers. (just be sure to spray the inside of the papers as well makes it way easier

Day One, and you're off to a great start! I forgot to add it into my challenge, but I too struggle with going to bed/getting up on time. Reading your posts convinced me to start working on better sleeping habits.

I think if you know where the challenges are going to come from, you are better equipped to deal with them so knowing Mondays are a killer, you can have contingency plans. It does sound like a really full schedule though so making Monday's a down time day is probably for the best. 

 

I love the version of Civ on the xbox!! It's so addictive! (Is Ghandi always a warmonger for you too? That man has some rage...!)

He sure can hold a grudge for someone who is supposed to be peaceful!   Caesar almost kicked my butt but I showed him who's boss.

Z5K: squeezed my run in during my daughter's dance class.  There's a nice trail close by.  2/3


Stay Alert: up on time

Mobility: minimal stretching after run.  I was in a hurry to pick daughter up on time. I know, it's no excuse.


Strength: off day


 


diet choices were the hardest yesterday.  I was so hangry in the morning and mid day.  But then my run got postponed and by the time I got home from that it was late and I wasn't really hungry.  I just had a banana and some peanut butter.  But I did a little snacking too.  And I suppose the 1379 calories noted about did not include some of the snacking.

In the original Civilisation, Gandhi was accidentally turned up to max aggression when nukes were unlocked. This was a bug, but the developers found it so hysterical that they kept it in, and have put it in every Civ game since then. Now it's common knowledge that you take care of him before nukes come out, or you're gonna have a bad time.
