Terah: new adventures!

Terah

Recommended Posts

Last challenge I joined the Druids to find my peace with food and my body. I've come a long way and learned a lot.
This challenge will be about Intermittent Fasting (IF)

I'm not sure yet which version of IF I want to do, so I will probably change it around a bit before I found my perfect fit.

My motivation to be healthy and feel great

Main quest: Find an eating schedule I can stick to

Quest 1: Stick to the IF version I chose for the week

I'm starting with 14/10 (a daily 14 hour fast and a 10 hour eating window)

Next is 16/8, followed by 18/6 and maybe even 20/4. And if none of these are a match I will try 2 24 hour fasts a week.

Measurement: A = 37-42 days of successful IF, B = 31-36 days of successful IF, C = 24-30 days of successful IF

Reward: A = +3 CON, B = +2 CON, C = +1 CON

Quest 2: Eat more fruit and vegetables (freggies)

One portion is about the size of a cup

Measurement: A = 108-126 portions, B = 90-108 portions, C = 72-89 portions

Reward: A = +3 CON +2 WIS, B = +2 CON +1 WIS, C = +1 CON

Quest 3: Workout at least 2 times each week for a minimum of 30 minutes

I love zumba so that will be my main workout. My backups are yoga and body weight workouts.

Measurement: A = 12+ workouts, B = 10-11 workouts, C = 8-9 workouts

Reward: A = +3 STA +2 STR, B = +2 STA +1 STR, C = +1 STA

Live quest:

Last challenge I started with the konmari way of organizing my home. I've made a lot of progress last challenge and I'm hoping after this challenge my home will look even better :)

Measurement: A = 12 category's done, B = 9 category's done, C = 6 category's done

Reward: A = +2 CHA, B = +1 CHA, C = +0.5 CHA

Konmari sounds very interesting- is it difficult to do?? I think I would be going through my things and end up keeping them all!

I also love "freggies" :D

Actually it is really really simple! I've battled clutter my whole life and I'm finally making progress :)

You should really read the entire book before you begin, after that it just comes natural. Never thought I would say discarding/organizing would come natural to me  :highly_amused:

There's a book?? What's the book? I find it very hard to let go of things, I attach to things emotionally too easily! Does the book help with that?

There is a book, an e-book and an audio book :)

Yes it does. It is hard to explain. Basically you thank the object for what it has done for you and send it on it's way to give someone else joy. But again: you should really read the whole book first, than you will get the concept.

I've considered it myself - but I really REALLY like food.

me too, and i can eat it all within my window. No calorie counting, no food restriction, I love it :)

So far I've been on a 14/10 IF schedule for 4 days. I know the challenge hasn't officially begun, but I like to get a head start :). I will go to 15/9 on Monday because it is going great!

Freggies are going to need more attention though :P

When do you place your IF windows? My days are generally:

9am: wake up + breakfast + go to work

12.30pm: lunch at work

6.30pm: leave work and do some sport

later: eat dinner

12.30am: sleep

I'm not sure whether to fast from 9.30pm - 12.30pm (15 hours, skipping breakfast) or 6pm - 9am (15 hours, skipping dinner) - any advice?

Dinner is the biggest meal of my day and feggies are always a part of that meal, so I wouldn't skip it. Besides that: it is the time the whole family is sitting down together. You should look to how your life is now and adjust your IF schedule around it. It should make your life easier, not more difficult :)

My schedule is now:

7:00 wake up, dressing and feeding my kids, do some work in the home (like laundry, unloading the dishwasher, all that kind of stuff you don't need a toddler to "help" you with)

8:00 breakfast (will be 9 am as of tomorrow)

12:15 lunch (when my eldest son comes home from school to eat)

17:30 dinner (ends at 18:00, so my fast is from 18:00 till 08:00)

21:30/22:00 sleep

My plan is to push breakfast forward to extend the fasting period, until I can skip it completely.

Hey Terah! Subbed!

Welcome again :)

I've done fasted workouts before and it is not really a big deal. But I'm dependent on the schedule of my gym. I love zumba and they teach it Tuesday at 19:00 and Thursday at 10:00. So eventually my Thursday workout will be in a fasted state.

Alright, teammate--let's do this!

Welcome!

First fast went very well :) I've fasted from 18:00 sunday till 09:00 monday (15 hours)

When my sons were eating their breakfasts I took a shower and I could drop them off at school and kindergarden on time. I was home at 09:00 and made myself some bacon and eggs and a bowl of grapes. So I've had one serving of freggies today.

Have a great challenge everyone!

Hey.  Following along.  I am dabbling with IF.  On some days it just seems natural to skip my breakfast.  Then this allows me another snack later on (usually the breakfast I already had prepared) or a larger meal somewhere.  Some days I am just too hungry and I eat breakfast.

and now I'm off to research konmari.  Intrigued.

Second fast was a fail. I managed 14 hours, but felt that if I didn't eat something I would binch-eat later.

So I will go back to 14 hour fasts, and if I can manage longer I will eat later.
