RedPandaOne
Time for some déjà vu:What do you do when your 2014 resolution was to lose 10 pounds and then you end up gaining 10 pounds instead? Pick yourself up and try again. So here I am, picking myself back up and continuing on my goal to get healthy. Overall, I want to be smaller. I know that my measurements will become smaller but the scale could go up. This is something I constantly struggle with. Since 8th grade I’ve been trying to get the scale to go down (yup, I was an 8th grader drinking SlimFast for breakfast). And with doctors constantly hounding me to lose weight, it is ingrained in my head that the scale needs to go down. So, yes, I want to lose weight, but I want/need to become stronger. My goal is to be 2-3 inches smaller in all my measurements (waist, arms, thighs, hips). If I lose weight in the process, yay! If not, well, you may need to talk some sense back into me. So here we go for Challenge Number 7: Main 3 goals:Track food 5 days a week This is to see if I’m actually eating healthy and the right portion sizes. Obviously something isn’t working. Strength Train 3x a week (MWF) Hey guys! Remember when I couldn’t even do it once a week? I’m now doing it 2x consistently! Go me! Now to add another day Swim at least 1x a week, 2x if body can handle it (TTH) If not swim, hoop! I really, really want to start hooping again, but being insecure at the gym I just haven’t. So, if I’m not swimming that week, I need to hoop! The weather is starting to get warmer so I can start doing it in the garage again. Scoring: Each Main Goal will be graded on a scale of A-F. Fully completed will get an A while never even attempted will get an F. Partially completed or half assed attempted will get somewhere in the B-D range. EDIT 4/10: Adding in a mini challenge!!!! I'm going to see how long I can go without peeling off a fingernail. When I get bored or stress I start picking at my fingernails and then end up just peeling them off. So, I bought nail polish last night when I was at CVS and my hope is that maybe it will curb this habit if I actually have pretty nails. Just going to take this one day at a time. No pass or fail. But I will reward myself with something if I can go all 6 weeks 3 Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars. It's a journey you'll have to take by looking inside yourself. I'm a little weakling and the heaviest thing I currently lift is a 12kg kettle bell...Heavy is about perspective. If ten pounds is heavy to you then it's heavy. That's what I mean by lifting heavy. If you're using a weight that doesn't challenge you at all then it should be more, in my opinion. I also don't mean something you can barely lift once. It has to be a balance. Just don't worry about what others are lifting/doing 3 Quote LEVEL: 7 Furyan Ranger - Battle Log - in lieu of this challenge don't look back, we aren't going that way: Rebirth - Wrestlemania Dark Raider vs KZacher From Tartarus with Love - Wrath of the Furyan - it's a secret! - FIGHT! - You can go your own way - The Rational Gaze - Rise from Death to Knife this Beast(part 3-the agony) - Demonized(part 2) - By Demons Be Driven(part 1) - Link to comment
RedPandaOne
Okay, good! Yea, it currently does challenge me. By the time my last set is almost done, I'm usually really starting to struggle. One day, I'm going to be able to put my carry on suitcase in the overhead bin by myself!! It's so embarrassing needing my 65 year-old moms help when we travel together (otherwise I just use a larger suitcase and just check that sucker!) 1 Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars. Korranation
You've got some pretty solid goals there. Losing weight and slimming down is great but building healthy habits is better (since they'll get you there anyways.)I've been struggling with weight since I was a kid too. It's tough, but I've just now started slimming down after being on this forum a while. RedPandaOne
I always need a form of motivation. So here are three of my motivations: 1. Getting my second holes and cartilage pierced when I can fit back into my fat pants (the ones that make me feel fat, not the ones I wear while 'fat')2. This Dalek dress for Boston Comic Con3. This cool pirate dress for King Richard's Faire this year (my one outfit is too small, I don't think I'll ever fit into it again. It was 30 pounds ago. And my other one is falling apart after only 2 seasons, grr) I will attain one of these!!! 2 Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars. RedPandaOne
I bought some vanilla protein powder yesterday off Amazon. Now I need to go buy some ingredients to use in my shakes. I've been doing peanut butter and milk with chocolate protein, but I don't want to get tired of it. I found a recipe for a pumpkin protein shake, but it calls for splenda, and I don't want to use artificial sweetener. Here is the recipe: 6 ice cubes1/3 cup canned pumpkin puree 1/3 cup 2% evaporated milk 1 cup vanilla-flavored soy milk2 packets Splenda Cinnamon (to taste)Nutmeg (to taste)1 scoop vanilla protein powder I'm wondering what it would taste like without it... 1 Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars. RedPandaOne
I wish I could too. I hate wearing dresses, but for some reason, I have no issue putting on these outfits and walking around the faire. I just can't decide if I should buy it at the end of the challenge or wait. I may not make it to the faire this year (if all goes according to plan, *knocks on wood*). But since it says closeout, I don't want to miss out on having it. I guess that's what alternations are for? Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars. It's a journey you'll have to take by looking inside yourself. You must write your destiny..." It'll probably be sweet enough without it, or a dab of real maple syrup would go well with pumpkin flavors. 3 Quote Level: 4 - Backhand Specialist Halfling AdventurerStats: STR: 3.5 DEX: 3 STA: 4 CON: 10 WIS: 8.5 CHA: 5.5Challenges and other threds: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Current | Presea's RecipesLong-Term Weight Loss Goal: 35 Pounds 0%0% Link to comment

RedPandaOne
You got this! I'm happy to see the strength training habit taking hold Thanks! I'm glad too. Working with the personal trainer really helped. It gets me to the gym and having a routine that I am comfortable doing (and actually know how to do) was the key. I've come to realize that working out at home just doesn't work for me. It's just way too easy not to. I tend to buy different flavors to not get bored. Have vanilla camel and gram cracker right now. Both sound good. My goal is to have two or three that I can rotate. I have a tendency to stick with one thing and then get bored/sick of it and never want to touch it again. So, hopefully just having the two right now will fight that. I also came up with a mini challenge for myself yesterday. I'm going to edit my original post and add it. But here it is:See how long I can go without peeling off a fingernail. When I get bored or stress I start picking at my fingernails and then end up just peeling them off. So, I bought nail polish last night when I was at CVS and my hope is that maybe it will curb this habit if I actually have pretty nails. Just going to take this one day at a time. No pass or fail. RedPandaOne
Okay, I'm ready for this!!! Last night I painted my nails so I hopefully won't peel them. Did a horrible job, but hey, it's been 10 years since I put on nail polish, I think I did good for such a long time. I also made my pumpkin protein shake. It's um... okay. I haven't added the protein yet, so I'm hoping it will taste better after I add that. I decided to make three days worth, and still had a little extra pumpkin and evaporated milk, so I put it in. Yea, I shouldn't have. It's a good thing I had my hand firmly placed on the lid while blending because I think it would have exploded everywhere! It was a little full. It oozed a lot! Tomorrow is the day I get to fully taste it. Here's hoping it tastes good! If not, I did buy frozen strawberries, pineapple, and mango. I hate dumping food, but if it's horrid I won't suffer for two more days and just dump it and go for the frozen smoothie protein shake instead. 2 Quote "You won't find your answers by looking to the stars.
