Hey guys felt like joining the warriors this time around since my goals revolve around lifting heavy things and gaining muscle.

This challenge and hopefully the ones following it will have a supervillian theme.  Specifically Bane. Now I've done bane themed stuff before bit this time I'm starting at the beginning. At Peña Dura....

Goal 1: Building the body. 

While people often credit venum for banes size and  strength in the comics he's a freak of nature even off it. This goal is to build an intimidating physique. With a goal of gaining around a half pound a week to minimise fat gain. 

I will pass if I've added visible muscle or some lean body mass over the 6 weeks I'll keep track of weight throughout adjusting kcals if and when needed.(diet and training info in post below)

Goal 2. Fearsome strength. 

As well as size bane is know for insane physical power. 

For this goal I will be aiming for at least 8pr's this challenge. These can be rep pr's(which should be easy based on my gslp style strength movements and that i will have just reset going into this challenge) while 8 may sound like a lot I think I can get more.

Goal 3 Banes truely terrifying attribute is his intellect, it's how he broke Bruce Wayne. .. well aside from his knee slamming into batmans spine. 

I'm going to work on some personnal skills and generally bettering myself, whether by cooling new dishes or learning new information.  

Side goal: be more active on here and in other peoples threads.

Reward: assuming all passes? I have yet to decide, perhaps preordering the game of my nemesis, arkham knight?

My training schedule starting from next week will be a 5 day split. 

Mon: back

Tue: chest

Wed: legs

Thurs: rest

Fri: shoulders and lats

Sat: Legs/arms

Sun: rest

Every session will be ended with a long or short arms circuit, 3x30 calve raises and core work. 

My diet will be a slow/lean bulk. I will be doing a slow bulk for 4-6 weeks then cutting for 2 weeks to add around 2-4lbs of lean body mass and hopefully minimising fat. 

I'll be at 250kcals over maintenance during the bulk and 500kcals under at the deficit. 

All strength work done with gslp protocol, last set is 5+, 2.5 kg added each session until I can't hit 5 then reset. 

(The actual lifts, rep ranges may change on the day)

Back workout

2*5, 1*5+ deadlift (starting very light to work on form)

5*6-10 chest supported rows

5*5-8 weighted chins. 

Lat pulldowns, pyramid reps up to stack and back down 

Cable rows 5*10-15

Arms/calves/core

Chest

2*5, 1*5+ bench press

Bench press dropsets to bar

5*8-10 incline dumbbell press

Dips 3-5*F

Cables: crossovers

3*10 high

3*10 medium

3*10 low

Arms/calves/core

Legs

2*5, 1*5+ squat

5*8-10 hack squat

Glute ham  raises 5*F

Single leg leg press 5*8-10

Arms/calves/core 

Shoulders

2*5, 1*5+ ohp

Seated machine press, pyramid to stack. 

Shrugs 5*10-15

Lat pulldowns 5*10

Lat flye 3*10

Arms/calves/core. 

Legs/arms

2*5, 1*5+ squat

Glute ham raises 5*F

Hack squat 5*5

Gym session already done for today, it didn't go too well but I set a or in weighted chinups :-) 15kg added for 3 sets of 5.

Now to eat dinner and watch marvels agents of shield and maybe powers.

 

So you're DEFINITELY team Heavy :P You chin ups are miles beyond what I can do (assisted pull ups still over here :P)

Haha yeah confirmed team heavy. And it takes time, I only just started adding weight recently, plus the bodyweight I've dropped makes them easier. But keep working, you'll get there :-).

After being at 2000 kcals for so long I forgot how much food 2600kcals is. Holy craps I had a light breakfast and have a light tea planned so just had one he'll of a dinner. Feel I may collapse lol.

2900-3000 next week may kill me lol.

I think that's a given haha. It's going to be weird training at full power. Should be interested to see if it makes a big difference.

But the reason you can and I can't is because you've paid your cutting dues and I haven't, but still I am going to be eating/living vicariously through you for a while!

JEEBAS thats a lot of food. I barely know on how to get 1600 into me. Good luck.

 

If you need recipe ideas, hit me up. My husband is in the muscle packing stage too so I have a ton of recipes to get him full but as nutriciously as possible. It's a lot of freaking food. Seriously.

BTW, the Chicken Stroganoff from The Shredded Chef is very nice, easy to make, and tastes just as good after reheating.  Worth trying.

BTW, the Chicken Stroganoff from The Shredded Chef is very nice, easy to make, and tastes just as good after reheating. Worth trying.

I'll give it a look tonight. Need to expand my culinary horizons this challenge.
