Day 21 Report - Moros fights an old enemy - pt 4

 

Still fighting with my kidney stone. Was a little better today

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Did walk for 20 minutes
  • Did do my stretches
  • Did keep track of my food
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster

  • Finished the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day for five days!!! +1 CON!
  • Started on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week - Day 7 is complete.  So, I actually finished this quest! + 1 CON!
  • Haven't started level 4 yet, which is swapped out grains completely at breakfast for a high protein breakfast for two weeks straight.

Quest 3. Bodyweight Workouts - do fewer exercise days, but have much higher intensity

  • Not today

Quest 4. Challenges

  • Did do one of the push-up challenges so that was good.

Days 22 - 25 - Report - Moros climbs out the cellar

 

Still fighting with my kidney stone. It's been a hard couple of days, but finally saw the doctor, got better medication, and am doing well. 

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Did walk for 20 minutes 3 days out of 4
  • Did do my stretches - 1 day out of 4
  • Did keep track of my food - 1 day out of four
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes - 3days out of four

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster

  • Finished the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day for five days!!! +1 CON!
  • Started on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week - Day 7 is complete.  So, I actually finished this quest! + 1 CON!
  • Haven't started level 4 yet, which is swapped out grains completely at breakfast for a high protein breakfast for two weeks straight.

It looks like my kidney stone has passed.  Yay.  Still really tired

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Did not do my stretches - 0 days out of 3
  • Did not keep track of my food - 0 days out of 3
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes - 1 day out of 3

Day 29 Report - Getting Back on the Path

 

First decent day in a long while.  In addition to my exercises, I did physical therapy, so that was fun.

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Walked outside for 20 minutes in the morning.
  • Did my stretches
  • Did keep track of my food
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster

  • Finished the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day for five days!!! +1 CON!
  • Started on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week - Day 7 is complete.  So, I actually finished this quest! + 1 CON!
  • Have started level 4 yet, which is swapped out grains completely at breakfast for a high protein breakfast for two weeks straight - Day 1 - had pork scramble from NF recipes

Second decent day in a long while.

Day 31 Report - Moros gets some new armor.

 

Third decent day in a long while. I got my inserts from my podiatrist, and I think they will do a lot better than the old ones.

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Walked outside for 20 minutes in the morning.
  • Did my stretches
  • Did keep track of my food - started doing +, 0, - for food again.  Clearly as the day goes on, my food choices get worse.
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster

  • Finished the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day for five days!!! +1 CON!
  • Started on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week - Day 7 is complete.  So, I actually finished this quest! + 1 CON!
  • Have started level 4 yet, which is swapped out grains completely at breakfast for a high protein breakfast for two weeks straight - Day 3 - had pork scramble from NF recipes (have one more day of this)

Days 32-33 Report - Moros gets back into a groove

 

Two more good days...

Days 34-35 Report - Moros has a somewhat normal weekend

 

Two more good days...

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Did keep track of my food - started doing +, 0, - for food again.  Clearly as the day goes on, my food choices get worse.
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes

I continue to climb out of the hole

Days 37 - 42 Report - Moros limps to the finish

 

Been very tired, but now almost done.  Did almost everything this week, but did fall down a bit about daily posting.

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training

  • Walked outside for 20 minutes in the morning - all days
  • Did my stretches - every day but Saturday - we had a tornado warning that made things a little hairy
  • Did keep track of my food - started doing +, 0, - for food again.  - did this every day
  • Did meditate for 5 minutes - every day

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster

  • Finished the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters of water a day for five days!!! +1 CON!
  • Started on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week - Day 7 is complete.  So, I actually finished this quest! + 1 CON!
  • Have completed level 4, which is swapped out grains completely at breakfast for a high protein breakfast for two weeks straight - Day 14 - finished this quest!

Quest 3. Bodyweight Workouts - do fewer exercise days, but have much higher intensity

  • Did do this, but cycles were still pretty low - felt really lousy on Friday

  • walked with my wife on Saturday, and completed 4

Moros End Report:

 

The title of my challenge was more prophetic than I knew at the time.  Between friends visiting, some outside stuff, and a kidney stone, it was really hard - but I kept going.  Next quest name will be "Moros will easily get fit, and there will be bunnies and rainbows"

 

Note - for those who are just joining us, I did only a five week challenge, with the first week being a bonus round.  So, the numbers only include the five weeks, though I did do stuff in the week off (bonus round). 

 

Quest 1: Daily Legion Training - Final Grade A,B,B,A

 

        A = 6x a week, 5 weeks
        B = 5x a week, 5 weeks
        C = 4x a week, 5 weeks

        Stat gains:
        Walking - did this 32 times (A = +1 STA, B = +0.5 STA, C = 0)
        Stretching  - did this 25 times (A = +1 DEX, B = +0.5 DEX, C = 0)
        Meditation - did this 26 times (including once in the ER) (A = +2 WIS, B = +1 WIS, C = 0)
        Food tracking - did this 32 times  (A = +1 WIS, B = +0.5 WIS, C = 0)

        Total Stat points are +1 STA, +0.5 DEX, +1 WIS, +1 WIS

Quest 2. Moros Tackles the Food Monster - Final Grade A

I thought this would be the hardest quest, but ironically, I did all of these.  I had some false starts on the H2O challenge, but after that, it was smooth sailing.

  • First, do the H2O challenge, which is: Drink a minimum of 3 liters (13 cups) of water during a day for at least 5 days in a given 7 day stretch.
  • Next, work on NF nutrition level 3 - drink water, and diet tea only for one week
  • Finally, work on NF nutrition level 4 - swap out grains for breakfast for a high protein meal at breakfast for two weeks straight

           (+1 CON for doing the H2O challenge)    - 5  days
           (+2 CON once Level 3 achieved on food)  - 7  days
           (+2 CON once Level 4 achieved for food) - 14 days
           
Total Stat Points are +5 CON

Quest 3. Bodyweight Workouts - do fewer exercise days, but have much higher intensity - Final Grade - B

  • 3 NF Recruit workouts, modified, per week

    A = 3x a week, 5 weeks - 15 times
    B = 3x a week, 4 weeks - 12 times
    
Stat Gains (A = +2 STR, B= +1 STR)
    

- I did make progress on this, but did not get up to a full workout - I worked out 12 times

Quest 4. Challenges: Final Grade - A

 

- I did do challenges in all 5 weeks, but I didn't really assign stat points, and I don't want to put these back in now.

 

What I learned this time:

 

- I had two moments that I am especially proud of.  The first was doing my meditation challenge while lying in the ER, and having my wife time me, so I could keep going.  I was pleased with that.  The second was doing a 15s plank, while I still had the kidney stone inside of me.  My kidney said "What the %*^%* are you doing?"

But I did it anyway.  The stone passed later that day, so I actually think the plank may have helped

 

- If I focus, I can improve my diet.  I can drink more water, drink less sugary drinks, and have high protein breakfasts.  This will help in the long run.

 

- My strength workouts right now are limited by my split-level squats (lunges).  I'll have to keep hammering on this in the next challenge. 

 

- Meditation is helpful, and it was generally ok to do it for 5 minutes.  I will increase this to 10 in the next challenge.

 

- Visiting with friends is awesome, but does mess up my routine.  I need to find a way to do this better.

 

- Kidney stones really mess up my routine.

 

- Sadly (for me), my body hasn't really changed it's shape yet.  Although I am a lot more fit than I was when I started NF in October 2014, my measurements have stayed the same.  I still look like I have swallowed a beach ball.  I know what I need to do (keep focused on my food, and work on strength exercises), I wish there was some visible changes.  This is kind of a downer, but I need to keep honest.

 

All in all, though I am tired, and a little beaten up, I am still here.  I look forward to the next challenge to be a little less in my face (or in my kidney).
