Thus far I have managed to have 2 very successful challenges. I know that this system works for me so maybe it's time to start pushing myself a little harder and kick some serious ass. For this reason, I am making this challenge Buffy themed (and because everything is better if it's Buffy themed!)

tumblr_lfypymf2Oj1qgbabho1_500.gif

Main quest - to set a great example to my children

This hasn't changed and it probably never will because it is perfect for me. My boys are wonderful but being a parent is hard work. Being a healthy parent is even harder but it's so important to be a good role model to children. They are my motivation.

Goal 1 - Kick ass workouts 3 times a week (+3 STA, +2DEX)

508741_o.gif

I discovered last challenge that I need variety in my workouts. Doing the same old stuff 3 times a week meant I seriously lacked motivation. I also discovered that I love to get my sweat on and work hard (contrary to what I would've believed) so that is my focus for this challenge. I'm going to be following the fighter's codex program on darebee.com. This is varied, focused on kicking ass and should get me nice and sweaty.

Reward - being fitter

Goal 2 - Stop binge eating (+3CON)

Sarah-Michelle-Gellar-Eating-Popcorn-On-

I know I'm good at succeeding in challenges but I'm also very good at finding the loopholes to allow myself to be naughty. Initially I allowed myself a cheat day from my healthy eating plan but then I became a little ridiculous on that day. My focus for this goal is going to be on maintaining my current weight (10 stone 8). I will continue to count calories and I hope that now I'm allowed 2000 daily I won't feel the desire to binge and go way over.

Reward - not being bloated

Goal 3 - Complete 20 good form push ups (+4STR, +1STA)

buffy_biteme.gif

(I couldn't find a gif of Buffy doing push ups...wtf?!)

This is an insane goal as I can currently only manage about 5 but as I said earlier, I've had great success in past challenges so why not push hard and see what can be achieved?! My plan is to work on them during my sweaty workout sessions but also try 1 day a week (probably Mondays) to do some on the hour, every hour and see where that gets me. Then on a Sunday I will do as many as possible to measure progress. Could be interesting.

Reward - total bragging rights

Life Side Quest - Have a kick ass wardrobe (+2CHA)

BuffyBeerBad1.gif

With my recent weight loss, I treated myself to some new clothes but I still find myself wearing the same old hoodies every day. The sun is starting to shine (as much as it ever does in England) so I want to sort my wardrobe out and start wearing nicer clothes. The first step is to sort out which clothes are bloody awful (why do I even have these?) and get rid of them. Once that is done, I want to weed out the clothes that don't fit well and then I'll have easier access to all the nice things.

Reward - Looking great

Unfortunately I'm on holiday for the first week of the challenge so I'm intending to complete it in 5 weeks however I'm prepared to give myself an extra week to work on the push ups if needed.

Following for Buffy, push ups and new clothesss :] I need to do exactly the same thing... clear out, buy in... What specifically are you looking for? Pics!

I think I need to start dressing like a grown up. I tend to live in baggy jeans and hoodies. I have bought quite a few new tops but I'm going to struggle with jeans. I have a 36 inch inside leg so they're difficult to find and generally expensive. Maybe I should make it a reward for something?

I'm in!  The fighter's codex thing looks great for you!  It should be a good way to work your passion for TKD back into your workouts and to keep yourself ready to re-join TKD classes when your life has calmed down to a point that you can.

Also, good luck with the wardrobe overhaul.  I really can't give you any advice with that, since I'm as bad or worse than you are now.  I live in my workout pants or baggy jeans, hoodies, and a ponytail.

Last night reality gave me a slap - how on earth am I going to ever do 20 push ups?

This is not the kind of goal I can just leave and then catch up on in the last few weeks - it is going to take some serious hard work. Last night I decided to see how many I can do. My starting point is 2!

This weekend I'm going to squeeze in sets of 10 everywhere I can. The plan is to do as many full push ups as I can and then do the remainder as three quarters. I read somewhere that push ups can be greatly improved by this method - fingers crossed!

Oooh, new wardrobe on the horizon. .

Weirdly, I have never watched Buffy, for all that I love seeing kick-ass women in media.

You must watch buffy! I think it's quite a nostalgic thing for me now but I like how every series has a slightly different feel. The earlier series definitely feel simpler and lighter which was perfect for teen me but the later series were sufficiently deeper and darker.

This is exactly why I've chosen it for my challenge. It should interest me as well as keeping my TKD skills ticking over ready for my grand return!

I love your challenges, they're very straightforward. Congrats on succeeding on the last two challenges as well! Looking forward to seeing your progress. :)

Thanks. Sometimes I think the reason I'm so successful is that I make them too easy which is why I'm pushing harder with the push ups this challenge. Should be interesting!

Tried to do push ups regularly throughout the day yesterday but had quite a few visitors so probably managed 4 sets of 10 spread throughout the day.

I usually managed the first 3 as full push ups and then the rest as three quarters. I still definitely had my strain face on for all of them so I was still working hard. Going to do the same today and then going on holiday in the morning!

Going to try and do push ups while on holiday but I know it won't be quite as structured.

I love Buffy. The dark willow / Dawn arc kept me sane during a hepatitis that got me bed-ridden for almost 6 months ages ago. Of course I approve of this challenge and will follow.

Glad to have you on board. I plan to re-watch Buffy, particularly the later seasons as I left home when those aired and never got fully on-board.

Thanks. I generally have great will power and if I say I'll do something, I will. The difficulty is the 20 push ups as it's not as simple as just doing.

New clothes are awesome.  There's no feeling quite like trying on something and suddenly realizing you need a smaller size.

I wore some of the new tops on holiday and felt totally feminine and skinny - lovely!

Subbing for kick ass woman doing kick ass things.

Its a shame you don't live over here (Not that I'd wish the air on anyone). You can get tailor made clothes for cheaper than regular western lowish-end brand name clothes.

Where do you live?! I'm tempted to move there just for the clothes that fit and don't cost a fortune! I wear shorts A LOT as soon as the sun shines because they're much easier to find but sometimes a little too short...

I hath returned...

Holiday was amazing. The sun shone (highly unexpected, thank you British weather!) and my family are wonderful.

I didn't do any workouts but then, realistically, I knew I wouldn't. Did a ton of walking and things like that so don't feel lazy guilt. I generally ate well too. Over indulged a little but it just doesn't have the same appeal as it used to. As soon as I eat too much, my belly hurts and I hate the feeling. Weird because that feeling used to just mean I'd finished a meal! Shows how far I've come in learning not to over-feed my body.

Anyway, it's late (not really but given how little sleep I've had on holiday it is!) so nothing to report today. Tomorrow morning I'll be starting the day with some push ups!

I so feel you on this!! I went out for dinner the other night, got about 1/3 of the way into my meal and tapped out. I surely would've kept going in the old days (it was very tasty :) ), but that tight belly feeling was just way too uncomfortable now. The added bonus of not overeating is now I have lots of leftovers!

Hope your holiday was good... I can tell you're ready to get to work though, and I'm excited to follow along!

Shanghai. Been here almost five years... moving back to the UK soon though.

Brand name clothes are generally more expensive here though. So there's defiantly a trade off.

But! If you really want to go somewhere for good affordable tailor made clothes, the best place I know is Hoi An in Vietnam. Beautiful town. Spent a week there a couple years back enjoying the beach while waiting for suits to be made. May have to go back if the bulking program is as successful as I hope. Its a tough life.

It's almost worth a trip to Shanghai but I think the plane ticket would stop it being such a bargain! Fingers crossed that your bulking means you get lovely new tailor-made clothes soon.

Good luck on the challenge! You'll rock out those push ups. :D And yay new clothes! I hope you're not like me - I hate clothes shopping.

Following for awesomeness and to be supportive. :D

I actually mostly hate clothes shopping. It's because I'm so ridiculously tall that I have to try on everything! I can't just look at something and think 'that looks nice' - I have to browse racks looking for things that look long and then decide if I like them enough to wear them. I have to set aside a day with shopping as my goal and go for it!
