Silmarilliane's Seventh Shallenge

Recommended Posts

Grüße aus London!

So my last challenge was ok, though I ran it over into the ‘spare’ week due to several over-calorie days that I wasn’t really allowed. I managed to stick to the other parts of it though and came out with a C+ and levelled up :)

I’ve also managed to lose a couple of lbs and a couple of cms off my belly, I think mainly from the walkings (243 total miles) and dumbbells rather than the excessive chocolate eating (you think?)

This challenge, which I’ll be doing for nearly eight weeks, up to the point I go to NEW YORK CITY BABY on 6th June, will have the following goals:

Eatings

Now that I’m within 15lb of my goal (can I get a huzzah?!) I’m switching up the cals to mfp ‘lose 0.5lb per week’ and still adding exercise calories.

I’m going to work this a bit differently this time, rather than allowing myself a certain number of days off for the challenge, I’m going to allow myself a day off if I’ve totted up over 1000 spare calories in consecutive days. So if Monday – Friday I’ve been at least 200 cals under goal, I can have an off-counting day on Saturday. I’m hoping this will stop me splurging with all the extra 240 calories per day mfp will give me!

Walkings

The walking challenge of at least 20 miles in any consecutive 7 days seems to be working well so I’m going to do that again.

I’ll get a bonus though if the average miles per day is above 5 (can you tell I’ll be monitoring this in excel again?!)

Dumbbells

I’m enjoying the dumbbells again, though my last challenge being 3 in any consecutive 7 days meant I HAD to do Monday, Wednesday, Friday every week (d’uh!) so I’m changing this to:

Three workouts a week (Mon-Sun) which can either be my dumbbell set of 3x10 bicep curls, military press and bench press (with 2x10kg dumbbells) followed by 1 min plank, OR the beginner bodyweight workout (particularly useful for when I don’t have the dumbbells)

Following this challenge I will then undo all my good work by spending a week eating my bodyweight in starch, dairy and alcohol products in NYC, huzzah!

Yours ever truly

Silmarilliane

Been to NYC a couple of times.  Anything specific you want to do there besides the whole 'stuffing' thing?

(Might I recommend going to Zoma?)

Trust me, it looks like piles of crap but it's REALLY good. I never had Ethiopian food before in my life and I scarfed down a ton of it.

And on the side note, you see the red pile that has two things in it? One is a hardboiled egg.  The other, which I assumed was another hardboiled egg and was going to put in my mouth whole...was actually a chicken wing.  Lesson learned

so this challenge is going well so far, as I have my spreadsheet all set up and calculations ready to go. yesterday I was heading to a friend's to watch game of thrones and had a few hours to kill so decided to walk to hers from work, a nice 8 mile stroll. This has given me a nice tidy 552 calories to start my calorie bank :D

I've also got plans Friday and Saturday which may involve needing both days off counting so may put in a sub-clause to my 'bank up 1000' that if I bank up 1800 consecutively I can have two days off. I was going to say 2000 but i think being down 2000 cals over 4 days is bordering on eating disorder...

yet to do weights though, so have to remember this evening!

All about the planning ahead!

I've just found that planning ahead has it's pitfalls in that I've been cancelled on for tonight's planned dinner/drinks/dancing evening. BOOOO!

On the plus, this means I've just eaten a lot less this week (1827 cals in the bank), don't have to splurge today (if I don't want to) and also won't be hungover for the birthday party tomorrow :)

How was the party?

The party was good fun, though three night buses home and the mother of all hangovers on Sunday (couldn't move until 5pm) makes me wonder if alcohol is really worth it...

I'm guessing good, since she's obviously still hungover :D

I'm surprisingly not. I managed to start feeling like a human bean again by about 10:30pm at which point it was time to go to bed!

so i should probably put like an update or something, right?

I'm really enjoying this 'save 1000 cals, have a day off' (exept the massive hangover - thank fekk for creepy government monitored apps like lifelog/oyster travel history that showed it DID really take me 2.5 hours to get home and i wasn't abducted by aliens or something)

obvs I'm going to show you a pic of my new excel spreadsheet - i know how y'all love to see them so have attached below!

walking has been very successful, and i've been attempting to do 1.5+ miles during my lunchbreaks too. and changing my dumbbells to just three times a week rather than three in consecutive seven days has been great, so i've been sticking to that. have completely chucked out the plank though. who wants to do planks, eh?

HERE'S MY EXCEL SPREADSHEET:

oops to my never updating this... as i said, life things causing ups and downs. so here's a mini update for the end of this:

- 5 of the 8 weeks i successfully did 3x dumbbells, and 2 of the fail weeks i still did 2x dumbbells so i'm not that dispirited by this.

- walking has been a success, with an average of 5.5 miles walked a day.

- calories did well until 4 weeks in where i had some off days. i've also sort of given up this week totes to prepare my stomach for all the NYC foods (TOTES)

i've done pretty well for the most part so am giving myself a grade C and levelling up. I'll be starting a brand spanking* new challenge on 15th when i'm back from NYC.

did i mention i was going to NYC?
