If you can do many lunges now, it might be time to move on to either weights or harder exercises :). Have you ever tried bulgarian split squats? They are similar to lunges, but harder. I find they work my legs very well ;).

Push-ups and pull-ups are awesome, keep up with the hard work :). Is an over-the-door pull-up bar an option for you? Does things work very well for me, from stretching my shoulders to actually doing some pull-ups.

I started out strong this week, but then my menstrual cycle made an attempt on my life.  Seriously.  I felt as though it was going to succeed in my ultimate death and demise. I haven't felt so horrible during "that time of month" since I was a teenager.  I was literally curled up into a tiny little ball under all the covers and couldn't bring myself to move an inch.  From debilitating migraines to other graphic and not appropriate symptoms to share…I really thought it might be the end of me.  I even missed an afternoon of work because of the pain.  And I NEVER miss time from work.  

 

So, I'm sitting here feeling pretty awful about the bad choices I made this week.  I used my miser-a-biliality as an excuse to not exercise and eat like garbage.  Meh.  Double Meh.

I'll have to look up these bulgarian split squats.  Just the name sounds intimidating!  The over-the-door pull-up bar probably wouldn't work in our home because we have lath and plaster walls.  I'm sure it would make the door come down.  :lol:

 

Wow, sounds like you are making great progress on both the exercise and sugar fronts. Great to see.

It feels like I was making some great progress, but then this week kinda set me back.  I need to refocus!  :frog:

Sounds like a horrible week, so not exercising and eating comfort food seems a completely understandable response.

Good news is that there's nothing stopping you getting back into the swing of things again now. I know you'll do great.

I'm feeling VERY down and frustrated. I tried to do some yoga tonight and only made it about 10 minutes before I started crying. I don't know what the hell is going on with me, but my "mysterious lady parts" (to quote my boyfriend) are all outta whack. I'm still in a considerable amount of pain and my emotions are pretty intense. I'm feeling ALL the feels. Meh. I feel like I need a time out.

I set up an appointment on Thursday to see an OB-Gyn to see if something is amiss with the "mysterious lady parts".  I'm going to try to give yoga another shot this evening, but if the pain is as unbearable as last night, I'm giving it a rest until the test results come back.  I've cleaned up my diet tremendously in the meantime.  

 

Sorry to hear you're feeling so bad. Hang in there, you've made awsome progress already (even though it might not feel like it right now) :)

I had my doctor appointment last week.  I have an infection, so she put me on some meds to clear that up and then she did a lab test and some blood work.  I got a call from the office today and they let me know that EVERYTHING came back all clear!  I am so relieved!

 

The meds that I've been taking seem to have finally kicked in.  I don't feel 100% yet, but I feel much better that I did last week.

 

BONUS!  The doctor prescribed a new birth control that restricts my menstrual cycle to 1 every 3 months!  SCORE!

 

She also highly recommended that I read a book called "Grain Brain" (as something to think about when dealing with migraines, depression, and chronic pain), so I ordered that off Amazon and it should be here on Wednesday.

 

I just read Steve's latest article, and decided to take heed.  I am declaring today Respawn Day!

 

New goals for Respawn Day:

Goal weight between 130 - 135 pounds

Last weigh in on 05/09/15 @ 146.2 pounds

Goal body fat between 20 - 25%

Last body fat % reading on 01/05/15 @ 29% (with a 3-5% margin of error)

 

Steps to achieve goals:

Diet = Paleo (allow minimal dairy, whey protein shakes, and wild rice)

Exercise = 4 days/week

Water = 64 ounces daily

Sleep = In bed by 11:00 pm on work nights

 

And above all else: I need to work on being kinder to myself.  I'm too critical, too negative, and I let my anger get the better of me.  If I'm going to be serious about my body, then I need to also work on my mind and soul.  (Goals for that are forthcoming...)

 

Today is a great day to start over!   :frog:

If you find something that works, please let me know ;). I struggle with exactly this a lot, sometimes it seems impossible to me to stay positive. Looking forward to your approach :).

I'm thinking of doing something relating the the Five Senses for my mind/soul improvement goal.  Each day, I will take a moment to appreciate something about each of the five senses: sight, sound, taste, touch, smell.

 

For instance, when I'm really super stressed out, I like to step outside and inhale through my nose as deeply as I can to smell as much of nature as I can; catching whiffs of fresh cut grass, or the earth after a rain, or the hint of a nearby BBQ helps clear my head, then slowly exhale through my pursed lips. It's amazing how it just relaxes me to the core.

 

I think it would also be a great exercise to become more appreciative of the things in life that I take for granted.  Not everyone has the ability to enjoy a beautiful sunset or listen to the robin's song in the early morning hours before the sun rises.  

 

I think this also works well for being a Druid in general.  :frog:

How is your respawn going?

Respawn is great until the weekends come.  I need to get a handle on the weekends.  I tend to binge eat on nothing but shit and then start from square one on Mondays.  It's a terrible cycle that needs to be broken.  That being said; I think I've just figured out my new challenge!  Thank you, Sunmage!

 

Also, thank you for finding the link to the Senses Mini-Challenge.  I really enjoyed it (if I do say so myself) and am looking forward to doing it again!

Good Lord!  The threads for the next challenge are already up and I haven't even posted my current challenge wrap up! 

 

FINAL GRADE = B

But here's the thing:  The grade is a "B" based on the spreadsheet numbers, however, in my mind - I would probably give myself a "C-" because I did minimal to attain the "B" grade.  I had a total of 21 points for exercise, however I don't really think that I challenged myself in any way that would justify a "B" grade, thus why I dislike any grading system.  When I use a grading system, I only do what is barely required to get that shiny, pretty grade at the end, but throughout the six weeks, I'm not really doing anything outstanding.  Minimum efforts yield minimum results.

 

Some things I've learned:

1 - Weekends are my nemesis as far as food goes.  I do GREAT Monday - Friday, and then all hell breaks loose.  The reason, I've discovered, is because I don't have any kind of schedule on non-work days, so I don't remember to eat until it's too late and then feel the need to eat all the food NOW!  I must make sure to have healthy foods planned and prepped on Saturdays and Sundays as well as the work week.

2 - I have an all or nothing mindset when it comes to exercise.  I feel that if I'm not going to run all the miles or do all the lunges, then working out isn't worth it.  That's just stupid.  Even if I take a nice relaxed walk, it's so much better than napping on the couch.

3 - I want to look good naked, and eating doughnuts on the weekend isn't helping.  Seriously, LittleTurtle, calories still count on the frickin' weekends, so stop with the bullshit!

4 - My stats from the beginning of the year are almost identical to now.  That's just sad.  Six months of challenges and no improvement.  On the plus side, I've maintained, so I guess that's something!   :frog:

This looks great. The numbers on the scale and measurements are not everything. How do you feel in comparison?

Are the bad days less dark and the good ones more often and more bright?

At least for me thats more important ;)
