Hello all,

 

For my second challenge I am going to change some things up. My main goal is to get under 20% body fat right now I am at about 26.5%.  On this challenge I will be working on two areas for diet and one for fitness.

 

Quest 1

I will follow Autoimmune Protocol for the duration of the challenge.  This quest was kind of a give me since my doctor suggested I follow the diet for the 6 week minimum. (4 CON, since this is to help discover what is making me sick yay for resisting disease).

A=95% followed  B=90% followed C=85% followed D=80% followed

 

Quest 2

I will drink 2L of water a day. I noticed last challenge that I have a really bad problem of pouring water and forgetting about it or trying to solve my thirst problems with coffee or tea.  To help with this I have a 32oz water bottle at work that is marked for every hour starting at 8AM and ending at 4PM which is when I get off work.  If I follow my plan I should have 2 more ounces to go after work. (4 CON, since this is a health and diet quest).

A=18-15 days complete B=14-11 days complete C=10-7 days complete D=6-3 days complete

 

Quest 3

I will walk 10,000 steps minimum everyday.  Since my job is mostly sitting at a desk for 9 hours it is really easy for me to stay in that mind set for the rest of the day.  I want to make a conscious effort to move more.  If the weather is nice my office does go on a little half mile walk in the afternoon, but I have found as soon as I get home I still just sit like I do at work. (4 STA, I eventually want to build up the endurance to run a complete mile).

A=420,000-390,000 steps B=380,000-350,000 steps C=340,000-310,000 steps D=300,000-270,000 steps

 

Life Quest

I will complete at least two courses during the six weeks.  I have four classes left before I will have my accounting degree. The two that I will be working on for this challenge are Cost Accounting and Global Business. (3 WIS, since this will help me move on in my career).

A=Both courses passed D=1 or 0 courses passed

So a quick recap for the last couple of days.

 

Monday (Day 1)- This week started out terrible.  I went to go to work and my car battery was dead, which meant that I was an hour and a half late since I had to wait for a jump.  I also got to spend most of my evening at the car shop while they replaced the battery, but all is better now.  I was really glad that I spent the weekend making and portioning my meals out since all I had to do was warm up the protein and add the fruits and veggies.  I made my 10,000 step goal, water goal and started on managerial accounting.

 

Tuesday (Day 2)- I used up my wine for the week.  One of my coworkers is transferring so we had a going away party at a wine place.  I also accidentally ate something I wasn't suppose to on the protocol.  Generally in the afternoon everyone in the office is kind of brain dead and quite a few of us were staying past our normal hours, so we could go directly to the party.  Some people keep large bags of candy and when everyone is tired they pass out chocolate. They tossed it on my desk and it was mostly gone before I realized that I was not suppose to eat chocolate, processed foods, or refined sugar. :( Otherwise I did well today and hit my step goal, water and got some additional tutorials for my class.

Day 3 (Wednesday)- I accomplished the walking goal, water, and eating. I also worked on my managerial accounting and as always I am starting the term off really slowly, but since I have Friday off I will work on the course than.

 

Day 4 (Thursday)- I accomplished the walking goal, water, and eating.

 

Right now the AIP kind of sucks. I'm missing being able to have alcohol if I want, especially since I got handed a really difficult project at work. Luckily, the supervisor told me today that they will assign someone else to part of the project so I can concentrate on the part that is blowing up in our faces. Meals are feeling really bland right now since I can't have any pepper or seed based spices and I like my heat. Most of my go to foods like eggs and bell peppers are taken away right now so that makes it a little difficult to find things to eat.

Great goals! Sorry you're having a tough time at work though. Emotional drinking can be a slippery slope, though. I find endorphins from workouts give me a better boost than booze does. It's worth a shot, anyway.

Also, your goals sound really S.M.A.R.T.! Way to go.

 

I know what you mean about the candy. If I get handed something sweet, it's gone before I realize it was in my hand. Same thing with bread products! I just can't handle them!

So recap so far.  I have stuck to the AIP since I went in prepared with meals already made. Right now it is difficult since I'm going through carb withdrawals and have 4 major projects at work all due at the same time.  I have also hit my step goal everyday. Thanks AresPandora and salambander for mentioning the plant nanny app for water it has definitely kept me motivated and on track for my water goal.  I'm about half way done with managerial accounting I just wish this course was performance based instead of test based for passing. With everything at work I'm doing a lot of technical reading and I come home and do the same thing, so motivating myself to actually do the work instead of relaxing is difficult.

Ugh, I hated studying accounting at university. Ended up switching majors completely after I flunked out of acc 101,for Pete's sake. I feel your pain. Keep climbing that mountain, and it will be over before you know it. You've got this.

I have been doing fairly well.  

 

I should have my first course done by the end of next week.  

 

A couple of my projects at work are becoming messier and messier, plus the main manager intentionally or not essentially told everyone on the team if they want to advance in the organization they need to leave and go to another team/agency.  This is why I left my last job, but I'm going to stick everything out and see what happens in the next couple of months.  Needless to say morale is at a low and pretty much anyone who has time off banked is taking as much of it as they can. I'm finding that my walking is really helping me relieve the stress. I have also started doing the Batgirl workout every other day which is good.

 

I did break the diet for two meals which I was not planning. I found out about my grandmother's 75th birthday party 6 hours before it started and I live about 4 hours away and I found out while I was doing my meal prep so it took about an hour to get ready.  They held the party at a pub that is newer and still working on the menu, so no real healthy choices plus beer and cake. My sister and I spent the night in a friends camper, and we don't get to see each other often so we stayed up late, played cards, and drank some more.  Since I stayed the night I met my family at a restaurant for breakfast and it is really difficult to find food without eggs, grains, or dairy so I cheated on that meal as well.  I definitely know that one of the things I have eliminated causes problems because I felt terrible on the drive home.

 

My water intake has been super good. Plant Nanny has helped and I have myself into a nice routine of when I drink my water.

Well it has been crazy busy this week.  I got a new cat 

Alfred

which is helping me narrow my sleep time to a more consistent number, since he needs routine.

 

One of the people I work with is leaving next week and my manager is trying to give me his projects when my plate is full.  The bad part is all of our projects are due by the end of June and I know of four other people actively trying to leave the team, which means more work for all the rest of us. The morale level at work really sucks and is not helping stick with diets.

 

I'm feeling really restricted on the current diet and I am finding myself cheating a lot more. I also feel like I would have to eat constantly all day to get enough calories. Right now each meal takes me about an hour to eat and I am barely getting above 1000 calories, so I am not sure how long I will be able to hold out.

 

Water has gone really well and I find myself craving it more. 

 

I have missed a couple of days getting 10,000 steps, but now that the cat is settling in I can get the numbers easier while playing with him.
