AresPandora
The hashes were great! I had a great time. This week finds me almost at my first goal weight. Seriously close now. AresPandora
Yeah, shin splints are no fun. Plus this weekend at the hash I ran with people who set a good pace for me. Sometimes I tend to go a little to fast, which can really hamper progress by injuring myself! I'm getting a lot of good information from strengthrunning.com, which Steve recommended to me during the last Academy Q&A. Already some good lessons. Unfortunately, I've been lazy the last two days. I skipped my workout yesterday, and I have no excuse, actually. I meant to do it, but I spent all day in bed. Today, I've been trying to concentrate on getting work done and being prepared for classes this week, but I've spent all day procrastinating. Ugh. Unexpected days off of work affect me so badly....sleeping in and skipping alarms! No no no! Tomorrow is a new day, though, and another opportunity presents itself to me to get back to it. And, perhaps unfortunately for me, I'm starting a new workout log. This new workout log involves dumbbells, as well as the bodyweight exercises I've been doing. I feel like I'll be able to do this new routine because I am finding the bodyweight exercises easier and easier. So, I think instead of just increasing reps, adding new exercises is a good idea. Anyway, we'll see. 2 Quote Ares Pandora, level 4 Mutant ScoutSTR: 7 | DEX 2 | STA 8 | CON 9 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 Challenges:1 | 2 | 2.1 | 3 | 4 Link to comment

AresPandora
Last night's new workout was a success. Learned I have no problem with 6kg dumbbells. Or, at least for that workout I had no problem with it. Went on a run last night, too. That felt awesome. I love running so much, and I'm so happy that I'm getting better at it. I can now run for two straight minutes without being too winded, and I think my current personal record is 5 minutes straight. Plus, last night was "run while avoiding manure" time. Since so many of the places around where I live is farmland, it's the time of year for fertilizing! ...I wonder who was the first to realize that poop is useful in farming....must have been an interesting story. This morning I realize I have no food in my fridge other than some carrots and cucumber. Must go shopping! So, I guess I'm doing an unplanned fast for the morning, so I can have that stuff during the day so I don't get all hangry with my students. Anyway, I'm meeting a friend later for dinner. I'm pretty excited, but also don't want to go through the hassle of trying to order something paleo when I could just be cooking alone at home. AresPandora
So, friend cancelled on me. Boo. And then I decided for some reason that it'd be fine to have a bowl full of rice cakes for dinner. ACK! It was so delicious, but definitely not paleo, loaded with hidden sugar, and all-around not an awesome choice. But it was delicious, and I was hangry. I added some spinach for greens, though! Not that it cancels out all the bad stuff, but it makes it a bit better??? Eh?? I think I'm going to go ahead and schedule myself for a workout in the morning while fasted to make up for that one. Sounds like a good idea, Ares. Why, thank you, Ares. On the good end, I'm scheduled for two hashes this weekend, which I'm psyched for. Get to see Salambander again, too! Woot! Hopefully I don't over-stay my welcome in her presence. Overall, looking forward to the fast-approaching weekend. 1 Quote Ares Pandora, level 4 Mutant ScoutSTR: 7 | DEX 2 | STA 8 | CON 9 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 Challenges:1 | 2 | 2.1 | 3 | 4 Link to comment

AresPandora
Today I woke up (after hitting snooze three times), and forced myself to get dressed for a workout. I woke up incredibly hungry since rice cakes don't really last long. But I got dressed and told myself, "You can eat, but you gotta do some work first!" So I did it. The small changes in my routine seem easy, but I think I'll be hurting tomorrow. I was going to go on a run, but decided that since I'm doing two proper hashes this weekend, I can take a day off. I'll be running for the next three days anyway. haha. Story time!!! So today I was doing dumbbell lunges with a 6kg weight. I decided to only do the one, as I'm not great at lunges in the first place (read as: I hate lunges). As I was getting to the end of my first set, it was getting really difficult to keep form and get back to place. Then I thought to myself, "You know, it wasn't too long ago you were doing lunges with this weight on your body." Also, On Wednesday I managed 3 sets of 10 full pushups, and today managed 3 sets of 10 close-grip full pushups. No knees no more. My form kind of suffers a little there at the end of the sets, but I can do them, damnit.I'm feeling pretty good today. The weight is, of course, not coming off as fast as I want, but I can feel myself getting stronger, pushing myself more and more. Now, to get ready to meet my friend for a reschedule, and head to my two hashes this weekend. My goal this weekend is to be better about drinking water! I always seem to forget to log it on the weekends with the hash craziness. AresPandora
So, this week hasn't gone according to plan so far....or rather, went about exactly as I figured it would.... This weekend was awesome. Did a couple hashes, got to spend some time with a good friend playing video games and watching girly movies. Fell down a mountain, scrapped my knee pretty bad, and finished the hike like a BAMF, still bleeding. Boom. Caught a train after and went to my "hometown" to surprise a couple friends. It worked, and we got really drunk. Woot. So far the week has been the opposite of paleo, but that changed today. Woke up, worked out while fasted, took a shower, then cooked some good stuff that's super-paleo. Now I'm fixin' to do some laundry, clean the house, and set an appointment for getting a blood test done tomorrow. I've been putting it off for about.........four months. So, time to get that done. The worst part about visiting old friends is falling into old habits, like smoking. I'm starting the count over again (again), and am going to be taking a bit of time off of drinking. Drinking lowers inhibitions, which makes it that much easier for me to say, "Eh, one cigarette isn't so bad...." which of course starts the thought train to conclusion town that I've already screwed up so why not keep going? Quitting is something I really want to do, and totally underestimated that even after a while, it's still difficult every single day. So goes addiction. On again! The rest of this week will be much better. Quote Ares Pandora, level 4 Mutant ScoutSTR: 7 | DEX 2 | STA 8 | CON 9 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 Challenges:1 | 2 | 2.1 | 3 | 4 Link to comment

AresPandora
Nope, that pack was finished. Then I bough another. Threw that one away though, half-finished. It was an awesome weekend! Terinatum
Glad you were able to shed the pack. It made me feel strong when I did it. I slipped by casually holding a cigarette fro someone. Best of luck with it. 2 Quote The Way Better Now than Back Then Better Now than Later On Link to comment
AresPandora
Back on track, 4 days so far. Tomorrow will be a pretty big test for me, as I'm going running with (ironically) a bunch of smokers. But I think I can do it. I have 54 days to get into the best shape ever before I go back to the States. Today I took the first big step, and managed to get under 80kgs. Actually, all the way to 79.9. haha. Anyways, it counts. While I know the scale lies, and it shouldn't be my basis for feeling good about myself, it helps. Especially after the few days I've been completely off track, and going through nicotine withdrawal(again), it helps. Today I woke up and did a workout fasted. That was awesome, and incredibly difficult. I hate lunges. Then I ate a massive omelet and did laundry. Cleaned the house a little and then went for a run once the day cooled off a bit. It's not even really hot yet, but hot enough that a run during the middle of the day is awful. Had a personal record of running 8 minutes straight. I wish I could calculate the distance a bit better, but I hate looking at my phone all the time while running. I also hate my stupid earbud cord. Bounces all over and makes a total wreck of everything! So distracting. So now I'm typing this, going to go take a shower, and then cook some dinner. Tomorrow is another hash day! Pretty excited. It's something to look forward to throughout the week. Exercise is awesome, and I still think it's weird to say that. It's strange to think that my body is getting smaller. I still can't see any improvement myself, but other people have said so, which is helpful. I just don't know that my body can get any smaller. It's weird. I've had this one for so long, it doesn't seem like it'll ever change. However, I know I'm getting stronger. I can tell that from my workouts. Plus I've gained a half-inch on my biceps. Anyway, I'll leave you with that for now. Time to shower. I smell. 2 Quote Ares Pandora, level 4 Mutant ScoutSTR: 7 | DEX 2 | STA 8 | CON 9 | WIS 5 | CHA 4 Challenges:1 | 2 | 2.1 | 3 | 4 Link to comment

AresPandora
I still have moments of weakness with sugar. I'm not perfect, but nearly there. I can't resist ketchup! haha. Anyone else get phantom smells??? I swear, last night I suddenly had the smell of McDonald's fries permeating my apartment. I have no idea where it came from. I haven't had any of that stuff in a long, long time. It made me really hungry, but it was bedtime so I just went to bed and tried not to think about it. Ugh. It smelled so amazing.... Anyways, I planned to get up early, work out, and go for a walk to the post office to send some letters, but I apparently needed some sleep since I only got three hours yesterday, so I unconsciously turned off my alarm and rolled over. Then I planned on going for a run, but I really didn't want to after the workout. But I did anyway. I'm so glad I forced myself out! It was a beautiful sunset, and I set a personal record of 15 minutes straight running. I'm not fast, but I'm getting more of my stamina back day after day, and I'm pumped. I love running. Alright then. This weekend I'm dogsitting for a coworker, so I'm hoping to get outside more with him. Nothing like a "pee break" to force you outside.
