Nnimn
Helloooo....I'm Nnimn and this is my first Rebellion Challenge -I've done stuff like this before with friends but since I've moved about 150 miles away from my support group I'm in need of support for my fitness endeavors. I've got an autoimmune disease that prevents me from eating most foods and causes lots of pain when I work out but I love it so I do it anyway. Consistency has never been my thing and my office has been way too busy these last few months so I'm doing this challenge to establish a routine that I can stick with so I don't have to keep starting over. Main Quest: Be physically and mentally anti-fragile because of consistent good habits. Physical: Be able to do 10 pull-ups at 19-20% body fat. (that's a 4-5% drop) Mental: Be able to interpret with depth (ie idioms, poetry, etc) as well as accuracy (ASL and Spanish). Quest 1: 20-50 mins of exercise 5 days a week minimum. Can be soccer, tennis, rock climbing, weights -anything as long as it is at least somewhat intense. Walking Azha (my dog) doesn't count.... Quest 2: Be more strict about eating for my disease and to support my workouts (ie protein 3xDay, no grains but rice, no fodmaps, nightshades, eggs, dairy, nuts, etc) Quest 3: Make 3 of my workout days strength focused (body weight or weighted). Life Quest: spend 80 mins a week on ASL/Spanish (could be reading Spanish poetry -or asl poetry for that matter- or plain 'ol studying) Motivation: I'm hopefully going to be back in S. America volunteering with the deaf community there next winter so I can't be sick or weak or ignorant (especially since that's a good way to get taken advantage of). I want to go for a year this time so I need to get in shape mentally and physically now -especially if I end up in a rural village in the mountains! Rock climbing anyone? 4 Quote 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - Current ChallengeNinja AssassinNo one believes our excuses but us... so let's stop making them and go accomplish something! Link to comment

Mustn't let their awesomeness derail progress)had lots of protein 3xdaydid weights for 30 mins + 30 mins hiking with Azha Quote 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - Current ChallengeNinja AssassinNo one believes our excuses but us... so let's stop making them and go accomplish something! Nnimn
The weekend: Hiked Saturday and Sunday 5 miles overall. Worked on upper body strength with rows, planks and push-ups. Ate lots of protein blahblahblah....Rolled my ankle with soccer and made it worse by sprinting stairs after (*facepalm*). Now i'm gonna have to do a lot more upper body focused stuff and weights until I can get back to full use of my left leg. Life quest: spent 60 mins this week on ASL. I'll do an exta 20 this week to make up the lack so 100 mins altogether this week is the goal. Nnimn
Okay so I have only been able to pop on here during work randomly or a few mins in the evening so here is an update: Wednesday through Friday: Eating -been doing pretty good, just need to balance out proportions. It's either too much or not much at all. I'm thinking some more forethought needs to go into my meals to prevent this problem. Workouts -have been consistent but not much in the way of weight training and I know that's what I really need to do to be in the shape I want. I think my brain is feeling lazy and somehow running or soccer or jungle gyms just seem easier and less boring. So, with renewed determination I WILL do 30 mins of weights today. I'm throwing it out there so I'll have to hold myself to it. (the lazy part of brain is telling me I shouldn't post this cause it soooo doesn't want to do anything want to do anything that involves reps). For ASL and Spanish - I've had quite a bit of interpreting to do for ASL so that's been my focus but I am determined to check out some good novels or poems in Spanish (and I will definitely be deferring to Ladygazza's expertise here). To everyone who's posted thanks mucho. Knowing someone else is looking at this helps LOADS. Thus I am WAAAYY more accountable... 1 Quote 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - Current ChallengeNinja AssassinNo one believes our excuses but us... so let's stop making them and go accomplish something! I mean, running instead of weights is faaaar better then ending up doing nothing, right? Now that you now that reps are not quite your thing, you can focus on something more funny (therefore more doable especially in the long term) for the next challenge! Stay strong and focus on the bigger prize for these 6 weeks For ASL and Spanish - I've had quite a bit of interpreting to do for ASL so that's been my focus but I am determined to check out some good novels or poems in Spanish (and I will definitely be deferring to Ladygazza's expertise here). At your disposal, m'lady. Endor
What lifting are you doing and where? If you're finding it boring you're not going to do it. I got started with bodyweight stuff that was progressive, very easy to track how i was doing day by day. It's a great motivator. Have a look at the Angry Birds NF workout, it's free, progressive, can be done anywhere and is very easily tracked and progressed. 1 Quote Endor, LVL 45 Half-Elf Ranger PR and Motivation Log | Current Battle Log Feb-March 2022 Challenge Link to comment

And sadly I am good at running that's why it's not so much on my challenge, lol. Cause otherwise I feel like I'm just giving myself a pat on the back for staying the same ya know? And then there's no challenge to it cause I didn't really DO anything extraordinary to earn leveling up. Tho I guess if I'm honest I do love strength training I just get a bit lazy when I haven't done it in a while. So I should focus on the fun part of it, as you say, instead of my feeling Lazy and I'll conquer this What lifting are you doing and where? I'd love to do some more stuff once I get a gym membership cause I love the idea of lifting heavy even tho I have no clue how to go about it Until then I will do everything I can with what I've got. Thanks so much for the reminder about the AB workout tho! I had forgotten it. I just did it and wow -my butt's been kicked. But I feel great so I guess I'll do this till I level out on everything. I love how easy it is to track. I have one more set of planks to do real quick so I'll post my workout in a few. Nnimn
Okay - moving is mostly done so here's an update on progress so far. Since my last update I've done about 10 miles and eating has been mostly good (tho I did have popcorn and sorbet yesterday -I was panicking a bit and did perhaps give in to emotional eating a bit But I've been good today so take that, lol.). I am thinking of starting a food journal to keep myself motivated and on track and if I do I will post it bi-weekly but we might leave that for another challenge. I'll see how everything goes with just focusing on eating clean first. Moving on - workout today: Angry BirdsSquats - did 100+ overhead squats so I guess I move on to level 6 jump squats. (god, I hate them )Push ups - did 50 so I move on to level 4Back Exercises - did 60 bent over rows @ 20lbs so I move on to level 3 for that tho I will have to try to do 10 assisted pull-ups first (with one leg on something) -this will be the hardest one for me to level up on so I'm prepared for slow going here.Plank - did 4 min plank so I move on level 5 here. (I need to find a good song for this cause 5-6 minute plank is gonna be sooooooooo boring - note to self, STOP whining ) The plan is to try to do this every other day. 1 Quote 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - Current ChallengeNinja AssassinNo one believes our excuses but us... so let's stop making them and go accomplish something!
