Apologies if this is not the place to post this, but I recently read Jon Kabat-Zinn's book Coming to Our Senses. It's a hefty book, and at times repetitive, but very much like a master class on mindfulness and meditation and how healing ourselves is the first step towards healing the world. I don't agree with everything Kabat-Zinn says necessarily, but it is a good book and makes some valid points.

“Genetically speaking, we are one people. The two most seemingly different people in the world are virtually identical from the point of their genes. At most, about one in a thousand nucleotides in our DNA are different between the blackest and the whitest, the tallest and the shortest of us. We are 99.9 percent the same. We are one tribe, one family, but have yet to recognize it. We humans are all intimately interconnected. How we treat each other matters to the health and well-being, perhaps even the survival, of us all as a species, not in some vague future, but in this very moment.” -- Jon Kabat-Zinn

I'd rather sing one wild song and burst my heart with it, than live a thousand years watching my digestion and being afraid of the wet.” -- Jack London

Headspace - Free meditation app, that comes with a course on how to meditate for complete beginners. They've moved a whole bunch of stuff outside of their paywall for COVID-19 reasons.

Calm - Another free meditation app that put their Calm Together in Quarantine content on their blog, so you don't even need to install the app to partake. Offers lovely music and soundscapes in addition to the meditations, and some stretching.

Insight Timer - Personal favorite because it has a meditation timer with soothing background/white noise. Most of their library was already free.

Book Riot Challenge 2021

“I've always believed that failure is non-existent. What is failure? You go to the end of the season, then you lose the Super Bowl. Is that failing? To most people, maybe. But when you're picking apart why you failed, and now you're learning from that, then is that really failing? I don't think so." - Kobe Bryant, 1978-2020. Rest in peace, great warrior.
